askeladd did not have a character dev neither did he need one and he never really cared for him, he only cared for him as a useful tool coz all he needed to do was u get me his head, ull get urself a duel. Askeladd was only concerned about wales, the character dev happened for canute. But in the end when he said "become a true warrior", what he wanted thorfinn was to grow up. Askeladd cared for bjorn, u think he'd care the same way for thorfinn?

i enjoyed every freaking seconds of this season my only complain is that sometimes it's too slow the scenes are there more than the time they should be in the screen still mappa adapt the manga beautifully hats off to the director and the whole team for giving peakland saga the adaptation it deserve
I think the animation in season one was great. It delivered the scenes perfectly where it needed to. That combined with the outstanding action animation plus some of my favourite background music. I think season one was perfectly animated.
Season 2 adapted the best redemption arc of all time..... Kingdom because better with season 3.....which adapted one of THE BEST war arcs of all time...

It's probably the best anime this season and even the best anime to come in recent years. I have already been caught up with the manga and still feel like a breath of fresh air. It is a genuine and beautiful adaptation that definitely captures the essence of the manga and adds more to it. **Have stopped watching anime for about 2 years, but I just couldn't skip this as I was waiting for it after reading the manga**

The reason we fail to notice the real meaning of stories like this is because of side characters, moments (funny/cute etc.) that people think are intended to lighten up the mood, but in reality most of the times they drag out the real meaning and understanding of the scene that was meant to be taken and throw that somewhere else (intentionally or un-intentionally). And this exactly is the area where Vinland Saga succeeds, it is absolutely delivering the real meaning that is meant to be taken from the story.
VINLAND SAGA Season 2 is Absolutely Peak, in the latest episode when *Thorfinn* declared that he's going to run away basically proves that he's a better person than *Canute* but again both characters are written extremely well & their ideologies are definitely something you can understand but *Vinland* is the story that tells you how to become a better person & it slowly shows you that God has given us all the essentials to have a perfect life but we're the ones who don't know how to claim that that's why people are built with different perspectives & for Thorfinn even "Righteous Violence" is something that shouldn't exist 🛐

Hmm, I am always bad at expressing my feelings but as an anime only I just enjoyed S2 more than S1 & appreciated the time I spent observing Thorfinn grow & rest of the characters on farm move & interact. The weekly experience was magical.
Really didn't care about season 2 ... Didn't even watched it... I read manga back in 2019 and really loved it... Story is damn good... Each phase of thorfin's life shapes him into a better character (from warrior to slave then wanderer)
Other anime tells the audience to fight for honor and fight for freedom. but this anime teaches to endure, forgive yourself so that you can forgive others. And Thorfin's every words touch my heart ❤️.

At first i missed that action of season 1 in season two but. it became way better in further episodes. episode 22 and 23 were the best. and also some moments like the misery that happened to Arnheid was heart wrenching and somewhat disturbing. but over all it was a good watch. probably the best Seinen Manga adaptation of the last 2 decades for me. Man Thorfin was a badass But season 2 thorfin is on a another level.
It saddens me when people compare this work of art to some shonen animes. It's not like I don't like the shonen genre but after reading Berserk and Vinland Saga I understood what peak fiction means.

Before my break up i was hating this anime. I had my breakup and fir jab i continued watching, i realised the meaning of season 2. Violence doesn't always help us out. Sometimes we just need to let go of grudges and hate.

SPOILERS!!! Thorfinn can see Canute has a vision too and wants him to chase his utopia(paradise) his way. He partially likes his vision and both of them if they fight and die then and there hinders the long process. Thorfinn values his life for his own dream and allowing Canute to do the same. If it was someone else other than Canute's vision he would've fought him. In episode named "Pain" he remembered that Canute talked about his utopia(paradise) which Canute discussed to Thorfinn in episode 20 of season 1, he had those words ringing in his head when Thorfinn was on Arnheild's grave just after she died. He went to meet Canute to know if he still wants to chase that dream of utopia and if Canute is not chasing that dream then he would fight with him, but after talking to Canute he realised that Canute still has that same idea in mind like he did 4 years ago. So, fighting a man who is chasing paradise on earth like Thorfinn was pointless. Masterclass in writing. This show if it was made as TV series it would've got all the recognition in the world. Anime kids are not mature enough.
I really love vinland saga but I also think there's a pretty huge problem with the message it caries... Violence is a big requirement in life ( in their time period especially). To protect others, land, territory, kingdom. In that respect, the way thorfinn was ready to call off the peace talk when it seemed that Canute will simly not comply with him was pretty stupid. And Canute's goal about "saving the vikings" Sounded almost like gibberish logic or some kind of fault in translation. Farmland arc had great character developments but the end which is brought... didn't made a lot of sense. Yeah I know pride, glory,respect < living... But giving up all of yourself and running away doesn't seem like a realistic solution to any kind of problem...
Vinland Saga s2 is the perfect sequel for S1. In S1 we only see the ruthlessness of war. A whole village is destroyed and killed but there was a bare minimum of emotion as the story was told from the perspective of warriors. S2 tells the story of those who suffered it provides the much-needed peace and emotions experienced by the oppressed. Yes, the first few episodes could seem boring but it has meaning and pays off in the last part of S2. The author of the Vinland saga is a genius. He treated the grave topic of war as it should have been.
As a manga reader, I can say Vinland Saga is a masterpiece, character development, story continuation & world building + philosophies or ideologies are all so much better (as I expect from a seinen genre like vagabond & berserk) and those who got bored of S2 are no more than idiots. Vinland Saga is not about violence but about not to endure it, also bored butts will get it in S3 what they wanted in S2. Ill say it again "Vinland Saga is a masterpiece"

The reason we fail to notice the real meaning of stories like this is because of side characters, moments (funny/cute etc.) that people think are intended to lighten up the mood, but in reality most of the times they drag out the real meaning and understanding of the scene that was meant to be taken and throw that somewhere else (intentionally or un-intentionally). And this exactly is the area where Vinland Saga succeeds, it is absolutely delivering the real meaning that is meant to be taken from the story.

What a great review, really loved the way you did it, for me its the best of all reviews you have done.
At first i missed that action of season 1 in season two but. it became way better in further episodes. episode 22 and 23 were the best. and also some moments like the misery that happened to Arnheid was heart wrenching and somewhat disturbing. but over all it was a good watch. probably the best Seinen Manga adaptation of the last 2 decades for me.
Man Thorfin was a badass But season 2 thorfin is on a another level.
It saddens me when people compare this work of art to some shonen animes. It's not like I don't like the shonen genre but after reading Berserk and Vinland Saga I understood what peak fiction means.

Thorfinn can see Canute has a vision too and wants him to chase his utopia(paradise) his way. He partially likes his vision and both of them if they fight and die then and there hinders the long process. Thorfinn values his life for his own dream and allowing Canute to do the same. If it was someone else other than Canute's vision he would've fought him. In episode named "Pain" he remembered that Canute talked about his utopia(paradise) which Canute discussed to Thorfinn in episode 20 of season 1, he had those words ringing in his head when Thorfinn was on Arnheild's grave just after she died. He went to meet Canute to know if he still wants to chase that dream of utopia and if Canute is not chasing that dream then he would fight with him, but after talking to Canute he realised that Canute still has that same idea in mind like he did 4 years ago. So, fighting a man who is chasing paradise on earth like Thorfinn was pointless.
Masterclass in writing. This show if it was made as TV series it would've got all the recognition in the world. Anime kids are not mature enough.

I really love vinland saga but I also think there's a pretty huge problem with the message it caries...
Violence is a big requirement in life ( in their time period especially). To protect others, land, territory, kingdom. In that respect, the way thorfinn was ready to call off the peace talk when it seemed that Canute will simly not comply with him was pretty stupid. And Canute's goal about "saving the vikings" Sounded almost like gibberish logic or some kind of fault in translation. Farmland arc had great character developments but the end which is brought... didn't made a lot of sense.
Yeah I know pride, glory,respect < living... But giving up all of yourself and running away doesn't seem like a realistic solution to any kind of problem...

It was the first manga I read, and it was amazing!
Vinland Saga s2 is the perfect sequel for S1. In S1 we only see the ruthlessness of war. A whole village is destroyed and killed but there was a bare minimum of emotion as the story was told from the perspective of warriors. S2 tells the story of those who suffered it provides the much-needed peace and emotions experienced by the oppressed. Yes, the first few episodes could seem boring but it has meaning and pays off in the last part of S2. The author of the Vinland saga is a genius. He treated the grave topic of war as it should have been.
As a manga reader, I can say Vinland Saga is a masterpiece, character development, story continuation & world building + philosophies or ideologies are all so much better (as I expect from a seinen genre like vagabond & berserk) and those who got bored of S2 are no more than idiots. Vinland Saga is not about violence but about not to endure it, also bored butts will get it in S3 what they wanted in S2. Ill say it again "Vinland Saga is a masterpiece"
