Yes, he has too much potential. Two time Copa America winner, World Cup winner -- he needs to go to a team that makes him a primary option.
Does Rodygo need to leave Real Madrid also?

Eventually
@naqeebayodamolaraji5718 I only ask that because when comes to Man City Players... Everybody has an opinion that what they should and go. I just want people to keep that energy when it comes to PSG, Bayern, Arsenal, Liverpool ,Barca and Real Madrid star players when they don't start
Arsenal 😂
@@Ro20_ maybe not Arsenal
I don’t think he’s asking to be first choice, when halland was having a bad game against Real Madrid there was no reason for him not to come in
I think atletico madrid would be the perfect fit. Familiar language with an argentine coach and many argentine teammates there plus atletico needs a good striker. Also julian isn't your typical box striker who just sits in the box waiting for a pass like haaland, lewandowski or ronaldo. He does a lot of extra work which is why scaloni prefers him to play alongside messi. I wish he could've gone to barca but the environment rn is not conducive
I dnt want any player that is happy to sit on the bench at 24. Sit fine. Happy no
Because haaland was marked by multiple defenders. Alvarez has never done well in such situations and isn’t nearly decisive enough.
Sorry is football bro in as much as we watch out side and see things like you Saud but football is not just like that some times names play for it self you couldn't never as to drop messi or cr7 never bad or good games that's how Haaland is important to man city
@@uguarte606sure, but going from City to Atleti is such a downgrade ..
Grealish had what 2 maybe 3 good months in how many years with City? And by good I don't mean amazing. I mean good as in he wasn't terrible.
Grealish don't fit in man city style
Grealish is only there cause they need some token english players. If Man city only got the best players they could, no englishmen would be playing there
@@JohnDoe-dn9ez that hurts 🤕 considering how skillful grealish is
@@seyioyetade For me his best feature is how great of a person he is. As a footballer he is obviously way above average but not Man City level. Nowhere near tbh
Grealish is a free flowing player who has been drilled to death by Pep to the point where his effectiveness is spotty at best.
If Argentina wins the Olympics he will have won everything there is before the age of 25. Man City will have to renegotiate his contract and they'll never pay a bench player 300K a week to be the back-up to Haaland, as for when he is used as a starter it takes quite some time to get back into the groove when your manager is playing you as a winger or extra midfielder.
When as halaad delivered in a big match? ... Alvarez is better especially in a big game.
Exactly. I've seen Alvarez show up in bigger games than Haaland

@@own1997 that is objectively false but ok lol

Haaland has 15 goals and 8 assists in 22 career matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle. Not to mention scoring against the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Sevilla, Besiktas, Lazio, and Napoli. You’re talking about Real Madrid. Actually be specific. Because Haaland has scored against virtually every other top opposition he has ever faced in his career. This whole myth that he doesn’t show up against top teams is nonsense and based on a ridiculously small sample size that people have run with.
There’s a reason why teams don’t use real strikers now. There’s a reason why they are rare. Few teams use them, and tactics have evolved to take care of a single striker. That is why it’s hard for defenses to take care of two strikers. If it were as simple as having a big boy up there and just giving it to him then yeah but a big man can’t be as fast. Alvarez today is perfect as a winger or a false 9 who runs rampant (Argentina). If haaland gets bullied by those defenses you think my Julian Alvarez is going to body and run past them?? Defenders are fast today not just big.. athleticism is it in soccer, thats why all these creative players don’t make it in the premier league, they get tackled and say screw that I’m going to Spain.. even though i believe Alvarez is in my opinion better and more effective, essentially both haaland and Alvarez would have just about the same impact in this Manchester city team. Until guardiola leaves, then maybe attack will be prioritized over defense. That means four people up front with hope that they will outscore and conceed less. Pep is as perfect as it gets with tactics. (Saying that Madrid is as close to gods in this sport as possible)
Williams,Alvarez, and Yamal front three. 😮💨
Barca can't afford 50 million in 10 year installments🤣
Wish we’d go for Nico and Alvarez instead of Nico and olmo
I've been shouting this for months....Barca please get him
Álvarez or Lautaro would be PERFECT for Barca. They need some Latin American flair up top
Lautaro for that Latin feel Alvarez is more of a class precision player @@randalljr17
It’s crazy to think that you feel bad for a player who has won a lot of trophies in almost every competition for club and country at the age of 24 and that’s the reality of Julian Alvarez’s situation at Manchester City. For the sake of his footballing career, it’s a no brainer for him to leave that club this summer because a player of his caliber is too good to a be a backup player and has to play on a team where he’s guaranteed first team football. I know there’s a stat that says that “Alvarez played the most minutes out of any player on Manchester City last season, it makes no sense for him to want to leave the club”, if you’re a person who just looks at statistics to try and make a point and push an agenda about a player’s situation, you’re absolutely delusional because yes he had a great season where he had 19 goals and 13 assists 32 G/A in all competitions and he played a lot of games, but context is the most important thing here.
People need to realize that from August to February, they were without Kevin De Bruyne their most influential player for the first half of the season, Erling Haaland missed a month of football due to injuries and this meant that Alvarez was playing every game and most of the time when he was on the pitch, are we forgetting that he was playing out of position and as soon as both of them were fully fit, he was relegated to the bench. If you’re watching the games with your eyes week in week out, you would know that as long as Haaland is at Manchester City, he won’t be their first choice striker over him because as terrible as his linkup play can be, at the end of the day, he’s guaranteed to score goals and this puts him in a situation where he’s on the bench and playing in a position that doesn’t suit him. Assuming this team has everyone fully healthy there isn’t any room for him in their best starting lineup. If the stat was accurate about him playing more minutes than any other player on the team, we wouldn’t be talking about him leaving the club, what I’m saying is that whether Alvarez goes to Atletico Madrid or another club, he deserves to be a starter elsewhere.

Great signing for Chelsea
Julian & Cole together would be class
After everything he’s won with Argentina you can understand why he feels he should be getting far more game time, but with Harland ahead of him a move away is probably his best option. There will be plenty of clubs willing to give him what he wants. Plenty of players would be happy picking up a big salary and getting a winners medal for something you’ve played only a bit part in winning.
Se nota que preferís a un tronco 🪵 que al que te dió el parche de campeón en la camiseta.

Sin Julián Álvarez el Manchester City es solo otro equipo chico
Clearly, you don't understand Argentinean players' mindset. There's no pride in picking up trophies and earning a big salary for something you weren't a big part of. Alvarez wants to play, and for all the right reasons.
If he wants guaranteed consistent playing as a forward. What a lot of people are misconstruing about his playing time last season is that De Bruyne’s long absence with a hamstring injury and Haaland being out for several months created substantial playing time for Alvarez that won’t exist this season unless injuries happen again. Which could very well happen again and then open up another big opportunity to play again. But if he wants to be the out-and-out number 9 at a club, it’s not happening for him so long as Haaland is there.
No it didn't. He started 31 games. Haaland only missed like 6 games.
@@russellward4624 Haaland missed 12 matches last season due to injury. 3 FA Cup matches, 6 Premier League matches, 2 Club World Cup matches, and 1 Champions League match. Haaland was out through injury for over two months of last season.

Julian was a critical part of every trophy he’s won. It took him being a starter to even elevate Martinez game in the national team. The guy is a winner
50 goal contributions in 100 games and ESPNs verdict is not good enough? Wow.

When KDB got back he went back to the bench he should’ve played against Real Madrid

@valdofranc3470 So you are judging Pep with with 1 game? That's crazy
Julian is not a role player Kay!!! Top 3 in goal scoring on Man City?? Doesn't sound like a role play to me!!!!
Thats the thing with Pep, right or wrong, Alvarez can win whatever he wants and have them trophies on the shelf, but its down to Pep's management not him as a player. We aint talking about Suarez at Liverpool or Zidane for France who have taken their team to another level. Alvarez is a good player who is part of something bigger. If you ask me, thats the way it should be everywhere, but not everybody is ready to melt into something bigger than them in the long term. Especially with Pep, whereas Ancelotti follow the same state of mind when it comes to a player but give them a lot more freedom so everybody feels like they still heavily are in the center of the project rather than just being part of it.
If he wants to leave put in a transfer request and find team who's going to pay bare cash...
Of course the guy feels that way and Pep's response was very arrogant. The only reason he played that much was because of his teammates' injuries, he doesn't know if he will have minutes this season. That inconsistency and doubts are not good for him. He has to go, it's very clear Pep doesn't trust him
Pep has ruined many very good players before. Alvarez is kind of stuck and not developing to his full potencial under pep. The teams where haaland has been were playing for him so obviously he is going to score more but he doesn't play as much as Alvarez has for the team as a whole, he has been used in different positions and he was willing to try to adapt but it's hard when his position keeps on changing . I think he make a mistake when he got to MC to extend his contract right away he should have waited longer so it would habeen easier for him to move on if things didn't work out as he hopped. He would be at the last year of his original contract now and he could have just walk away to a different club much easier
Savio is gonna take that place from Grealish and Doku, a much better player than both
savio is a better when he is on the right, killing it with brazil with the limited time he got. i watch 4 - 5 games of savio in laliga where he played on the left , was the towards the end of Gironas season...from the games i watch he was bang average, was prob tired from a heavy work load.
if a team want to shell out 80m then he can leave. if not he stays put, shuts up and fulfills his contract.
Acquiring Haaland and Alvarez in the same transfer window is a mindblowing manuver from Man City. Other teams require to resort everything they got yet Man City got 2 worldclass talents for less than 70 million. 🤯
I just felt Grealish has failed to evolve his game. His predictability in keeping the ball is necessary in certain matches albeit very few since city more likely than not will control most games... You need grealish now as a bench role player to hold unto leads by drawing fouls and holding the ball... But as a starter where you need to be proactive then he's not that guy.
Atlético de Madrid could be a great option 👍🏽

Alvarez should go to arsenal
alvarez always pulls opponent shirts but a hard worker just like jesus
Alvarez is a pure striker, endowed with the versatility to operate anywhere along the front line. Regrettably, this versatility has worked to his detriment, as he has often been deployed in positions other than his natural role as a striker. This has dulled his instincts and diminished his effectiveness in his preferred position. Should he fail to advocate for his career, he risks being remembered merely as a versatile player within a talented team.
Let's say Haaland gets injured.....who will play the role of Alvarez??
For now he plays that role. If he's sold, a back will most likely be purchased
Alvarez played such a lot because Haaland was out for quite a long time. Grealish has been brilliant in the past 2 games in the US against Barca and Chelsea. Taking lots of people on and turning defenders inside out and scoring. He is also good at defending whereas Doku can't.
ESPN full of bricks
I’m in complete agreement with Robboo on his evaluation of Grelish, coming from a MC fan since Tevez joined the team.
Me encantó la opinion sobre Julian de los dos ex jugadores de futbol. Ellos entienden perfectamente lo que siente
Congratulations to Kay for the way she says "Julián"
He’s already won it all at City and with Argentina. Makes sense to leave and focus on personal milestones
When Kevin de bruyne leaves, pep will switch the lineup to a 4-2-3-1 and he’ll plug him as a CAM with Rodri with Kovacic. Silva and foden on the wings and Håland up front would be my guess if they value and nurture him to become a better player. Perhaps this is the solution. Or if Håland goes instead at some point 🤷🏻♂️
I think Grealish would play better as a #10 than a winger.
Yeah in pre season he played inside a bit more and looked a lot better then on the wing
As much as I’d like City to keep him, I don’t think anyone can begrudge him a move. They bought him for £10m and will sell him for over £75m, got two great years from him and several trophies. Not a bad bit of business. Fans get too attached to players. Not every player needs to stay for 10+ years.

Getting most minutes and still crying about playtime. Maybe shoot some goals in important matches to be considered next time. Its a team game . First half of the season he was great and then was mediocre in 2nd half. Rivals want every player to leave city bcoz they are tired of losing every year.
He should indeed leave, imo, he deserves to play for a club where he know he is a starter. He knows this as well, I hope he push the trigger. What a player!
I totally agree with the commentators in the studio
He won World Cup and Copa America+ same trophies that Haaland won. He deserve to be main man and first player on the sheet in a club that guarantees him to start every game.
And the club is?
Different national teams
Interesting discussion, but also funny in terms of the fact that ESPN commentators also play their roles in the debate: one of the studio ones, whether it's Craig, or Robson in this case, has to be the 'bad cop' and be incisive on stuff, while the others tone it down and perform the 'good cop' roles. As for the Grealish vs Doku and Haaland vs Alvarez debate, at their best, they simply have different roles: Grealish and Alvarez are better team players in terms of effort and combinative playing with minimal risks, while Doku and Haaland are better at destabilizing the opposition and produce the unexpected in key / tight games.
I'm sure that for Pep, it's both a matter of roles in different games, but also a matter of the form these players are in. Other than that, let's admit it, bar Argentina where Lautaro fits that role perfectly, at City Alvarez fits better coming on as a subtitute, while Grealish' dip of form last season made Doku the obvious choice for Pep. Individually, if any of these think of leaving, they should take into account that they will not be as good or important as they are in this team - even if they would play as regulars. Atleti is a great team, but they were always figting against the current in Spain.
Athletic Madrid does not win as many trophies as Man City. Julian Alvarez will have to decide, trophies or play time?

@@akirasuzuki8378 he got 17 minutes in last month of PL season and was relegated to bench in all important games especially the UCL where he played less than 5 minutes in knockout games. Nobody wants that

Julian Alvarez is one of those excellent players that is allured to a team with big promises and then when he get there things change....in this case the arrival of Halland. Juli needs to be in a stable team with regular minutes and he'll be back to his best self.
Maybe the real question that needs to be asked here is why is ManCity not made to abide by financial fair play rules? How is it that a club can spend endless amounts of money to have world-class players sitting on the bench? And the FA, UEFA, and FIFA are all looking the other way? Granted, they're not the only club in that situation. But it's time to either force clubs to abide by the rules or scrap the rules altogether. What's the point of having them if they're not going to be obeyed?
As for Alvarez, his track record speaks for itself. Robson's simplistic conclusion sounds very silly. The bloke is a WC Champion with 4 goals to his name. And he wasn't even a starter at the beginning of the tournament. He didn't do that by just running around. He's entering the prime of his career. Why should he sit around for another year at City? His lack of playing consistently in his position is affecting his performance with the national team, and in any Argentinean player's head, that is bummer. Football careers are very short. A player of his talent and stature should not be wasting time at a club that doesn't appreciate him. He needs to leave.
Oh, and BTW, in the important games, Haaland was nowhere to be seen. He's a one-trick pony, and sometimes he can't even pull that trick off.
he's a more complete footballer than haaland, he's won everything there is to win for the teams he's played for, he should 100% be starting for city
He's a poacher and he can manufacture goals. But he won't be much use in people systems. He would do well in more free systems
Alvarez is charm to any team at age 24 he has already won every trophy in football career
Alvarez is never going to be THAT guy, he has been fortunate to be in good company so far in his career. Asking for too much will get him exposed for the average but very lucky player he is.
There's a misconception that Grielish does or should play like Doku or a Saka. He is fast and a great dribbler, but doesn't have the explosive acceleration toward the touchline like Doku. At Villa, he was always more dangerous at the top of the box, right on the top left corner, and then driving right or passing. Pep is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole if he wants Grielish to play like a touchline sprinter. Pep could try overloading the left when Grielish is there but he uses that left as a diversion. Maybe Doku is a better fit if Pep wants his left wing to play like that, and maybe Grielish should find a coach who plays a system that suits him.
The issue with Grealish is that he failed to evolve... When city started playing a double 6...in Rodri and Kova... Grealish needed to up his attacking game as his control wasn't needed alot... Risk was needed... We needed goalscorer and assist makers...
He won't ghost into the box and get lucky bounces to score. His game became so predictable...
Against Milan... He was pointing out to young Hamilton to pass back as he would normally do... Hamilton was brave took the risk... Beat his man with pace and made a cross for a goal...
For him to take up the same position at the corner of the 18, I would have hoped he had produced more far post cross/shots
This is this type of player Liverpool is meant to sign as a striker not the.....[sighs]🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Thank you!
Alvarez would have to leave because he would continue to be a back up player when everyone is fit and he will be playing out of position most times, he can move to one of the big clubs in Europe and would be first choice in everywhere else except in city. He would have been a fit for Barca but actually they are not in any position to make that happen.
Barca would love to have him and he would be a perfect fit for them as Leesndowski is 35 and its probably his last season with Barca. He wasn’t as prolific last season and maybe his age is now catching up with him.
I have to feel he's a little ungrateful to want to go. He's had extra time off after the World Cup and now for the Olympics, played as many games as anyone last season, he did miss some time later in the season because at the squeaky end Pep tends to stick with his preferred 13 to 14
He has won it all now it’s time to start regularly
I just dont understand the hate on Grealish. He was one eleventh of the reason why they won the treble. As an individual, he may not be a shining star but as a team roleplayer he does his job and wins games.
Oh Stewart Robin, I don’t think you are a Grealish hater but you are failing to see what he brings to the team, in terms of control and free kicks. Yes, he has not had a good season but he was integral to the treble winning season and he has already scored against Barca in the preseason. If he has another poor season than you will have a point, let’s see.
Sorry but what did he honestly expect? He was signed alongside Haaland. Alveraz and his agent should’ve always known that Alveraz was going to be Haaland’s bench warmer
They have sign Savio so i don't think grelish will start
yes
That why we will miss Julian Alvares if he is not playing regularly bcos he is the only player who who won many trophy not another he is a all rounder player as one of any positions ,brilliance and talented ,a key of many trophy he is is magic but if mancity left, surely mancity willbe a great lost
I wonder why we moan about alvarez? Halland stays on the pitch and most likely gets a goal inside 60mins alvarez has to better that stat when he is given the chance. He is not a better goal scorer than halland he needs to grab that position and challenge halland.
Didn’t sound unhappy to me, he just need to be more consistent and he will be more consistent
He is definitely better potential and hardworking than Halaand and Grelish

Why cant Alvarez play as a Left Forward..? Man City can easily play him ahead of Graelish who has been garbage.. 2-3 good months after 2 seasons.. is it because Graelish is English thats why he has to play..?
