I started CPAP last night for the first time. I chose this mask and I'm very happy with it. I didn't feel claustrophobic at all. I have it on a table behind my bed and there was no hose obstruction at all. I'm a side sleeper and toss and turn a lot. Not sure if I did that last night, but I definitely felt better when I woke up today even though it was a short night of sleep. I'm a night owl in a morning person's world.

Ugh I almost cried last night I was so frustrated. It was night 2 with this mask and for the life of me I could NOT get a leak to stop from the nasal cushion area. The first night took a min but I tightened it really tight. After watching this video and resizing myself with the chart I think a smallwide would greatly improve things. I wish I had been “fitted” before they gave me my supplies and just assumed. Thank you for the video, I have some hope again this will work with the right supplies.

This video and all your others have helped me out so much, This mask in your demo is the one I just picked up yesterday, I have never had a CPAP machine before, But I chuckled when you said some people try to put it over their nose, That was me last night I was up all night cursing this hose assy air was shooting up into my eyes driving me nuts. So now I will try it the right way tonight. Awesome Videos I subscribed and liked all your videos. Chris from Canada.

Last night was my first night with this new mask - and i hated it! But before I decided to get a different one I googled for a video on how to properly put it on and found your video. I did not even realize there were holes at the top of the cushion for my nose... and giving the details of where each part should sit on my head was very helpful. Hoping tonight is a better night.

Thank you so much for telling us there is supposed to be a constant flow of air out the front AND top! I was sure the top had a leak. And with the resmed nasal pillows I use to have the flow of air was only when I was breathing out. Such a simple thing was huge to find out as a new mask user! 🤩

@@CPAPmyway I found your video looking for information on this mask "leaking". I understand it now, but still have a question. Won't cpap's like the airsense 11 register this as a leak and tell you to adjust your mask?

The first pillow I have had the best experience with a full face mask is "My Pillow" pillow and this particular mask, but because I am a very small female, it is difficult to find a mask that actually fits me. Kids size is too small, the XS in adult is supposed to fit but in the Quattro it leaked air all the time, but this new one seems to be better, and once I get the right pressures I need, and the fit that works, I am good to go. I have had, in my opinion, three great nights since beginning keeping track with "MyAir" at ResMed. One really terrible night with a score of 44, and then I scored a 99, a 75, and an 85. Not so bad for being on four days straight.

Nostril fitting is crucial for proper airflow. I was using large pillows and getting 10 to 20 episodes per hour. Changed to medium. Reduced that to 1-3. This mask looks like it could be a problem with getting a good seal with no leaks. I'm waiting for one now. I'm using the N30i now. It works great. We'll see if the F model is better or worse.

Replace the cushion every 30-45 days?? I get about 8-12 months. This cushion is not the F20 memory foam cushion that does need replacing every 30 days, that has 3 in a pack. The F30i cushion is about $80 for one cushion, that's nuts to replace it every 30 days.
Edit: ResMed is recommending replacing the F30i cushion every 6 months.

Is air supposed to come out where the tubes connect to the plastic front? There is
an open vent on each plastic area where it clips on. Plus there are the 2 lines of holes on the front where air comes out. It seems like a lot of air coming out of the plastic part of the mask. Is this correct? 3 open areas of front of masks where air is coming out makes this masks very noisy.

You know it is really tough to say what would be best for you, because every face is so different. Side sleepers typically do well with a mask that connects at the top of the head. You get more side to side movement. I have a couple links to those style CPAP Masks below. You may also want to look in to new FaceMapper fitting service we have. It will map your face and tell you the best CPAP Mask for you.

I would ask two questions. What keeps the mask sealed 'upwards' with no adjustment on the headgear hose? And, how does one find comfort laying your head on the pillow with that rubber hose against your face?

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1) As you tighten the top strap the frame is pulled back on the head which tightens the seal up against the nose.
      2) It is thicker than headgear straps for sure, but getting the tubing away from the body does give a lot more freedom of movement. The tube/frame on the side of the head does provide some negative feedback from users, but not too often. It flattens out pretty well when you lay on the side and the air redirects to the other side.

We always discourage "Mcgivering" your CPAP parts. They are designed to function to pretty specific standards to ensure that CO2 is properly flushed ect. So unfortunately there isn't much you can do on that one to get it bigger. You should checkout the Amara View though. Similar fit with a large size. Link below.

I have the Amara View and I cut the divider between the nose and mouth and it did not collapse and felt much better than before. I tried it on an old cushion I was ready to throw away. I ended up getting a couple more weeks out of it. This worked for the Amara I don't know about the F30, try it with a cushion you are ready to trash.

there's the flaps inside the mask near the pressure inlet. what are their function? When pressure is constantly on, those flaps never move, so the holes near it never function as an outlet

    • @CPAPmyway

It should be below your noise, and it is pretty quiet. So loud air noise would indicate a leak that needs to be corrected in most cases.

I restarted the machine and the air stopped completely after 30 mins again. There are no leaks and it is professionally fitted. The clinician in person, checked all of my equipment and could not come up with a reason why it’s happening. Please help if possible . This mask is so much more comfortable then my full face mask. I am sorry that you are having so much trouble. The only reason that the CPAP should be shutting off is during really high leaks. The machine will "think" that you have disconnected the mask and then turn itself off. If you are not having any leaks then there may be an issue with the CPAP.

I have had that happen to me a couple of times, and I just adjusted the mask until it stopped. One thing I have noticed since beginning treatment with this mask, is as long as you get a good fit and no leaks, it seems to be clearing up my dry eye condition. I have to do a new sleep study, since I haven't had one done since 2006 and so I have no idea what my pressures should be now. I quit using the old machine a few years back because the Mirage Full Face Quattro was killing my nose and forehead, and I could very rarely get it to stop leaking.

Yea like the tube off the top wont get between your pillow and the headrest and get hung up. The friction of the long tube hanging over the bed and back up to the machine will greatly effect how the top of that at headband reacts since there are NO straps near that tube attachment to offset that friction. NOW you have the whole headband twisting sideways enough to break the sensitive seal at the nose and or. The nosepiece pressure changes and stress one side of the soft tip of your nose. Like I said this designs is shitty all the way around. People MOVE their heads NOT just side to side; they also move their head up and down. I use a ResMed Mirage Quattro Full Face CPAP Mask which you can tweak the pressure of the upper nose part of your face fantastic design yet my supplier says that mask is being discontinued. Also its going on a year me using the same face soft seal and hard mask and its still looks like new and I dont use one of those CPAP cleaners or a SO Clean The soft seal never lost its integrity as well as the check valve.
