This film is one of the best Crime thrillers in India.I would say it's a must watch,mainly for Ilayaraja's amazing songs and unbelievable background score,Kamal Hassan.
The teen aged young girls are preparing for pageant contest..
But its a thriller film - based on how they are manipulated and exploited for smuggling diamonds ..
This film came in 1981 way before miss congeniality which came in 2000 which was also based on pageant contest.
And about the song..
Listen to it again please, the singer S - Janaki's modulations and emotion packed travel through outbtge song.. Superb composition indeed..
Ilayaraja shifts like a King from light music to classic and again jumps to light music.. ❤ these gems were composed by him in seconds.. That time 80's he was like an ocean and other music directors were like rock salt particles into that ocean.. he would finish song recording with in 6 - 7 hours.. after having lunch he would finish another song.. per day he did 2 songs.. thats why He finished 1300+ movies several albums, symphonies.. 48 years of ruling and still that 81 years man running like an youngster.. giving chartbusters.. Musical God.. ❤
Its very difficult to understand for you guys. But for us its a fusion when it comes to the music itself. This song is a proper western with proper classical Indian mixed so authenticcally. And in the making of the visuals you need to see the movie then you will be able to relate. These girls were used for smuggling of diamonds. Cult thriller movie. Kamal is too good with these kind of genre.

Even though it is an old (80s) one it doesn't look old. It can be heard multiple times. Beautiful composition by maestro Ilayaraja. I recommend poo malarnthida song from this movie.

It is an utterly flopped Kamala Hasan movie by Bharathi Raja. But it is one of the greatest Hits of Ilayaraja. Even his Music did not save the film from box office failure. At that period we all expected a big Hit just like their (Ilayaraja, Bharathi Raja, Kamalahasan combo) 1978 big hit crime movie 'Sigappu Rojakkal'. It is a nostalgic memory to me to get the ticket for this movie by luck on the second day, which is offered to me by an unknown person as I was returning home on failing to get a ticket, telling me he knows me and he wanted to help me. It is a great Hit song by Ilayaraja. But you watch his real melodies too. I recommended a few songs earlier. Please try to watch. Now I give another song "Yennullil Yengo" from 1978 Actor Sivakumar's 100th Hit movie "Rosappo Ravikkaikari". It is one the greatest songs of Ilayaraja, particularly for women as the song is composed for a women character in a confused state of mind.
