Ok thank you. I just asked this question on another one of your videos. I was confused about the categories but you once again did a great job explaining. Thank you.
Thanks for the awesome video! I am about to embark on my first journey as an indie author and your videos have really opened my eyes to the possibilities and different avenues. Keep it up!
I was pretty annoyed when I saw the different categories Amazon put my book in worldwide, even though I had chosen the ones I wanted during the publishing process. I contacted Amazon immediately and they advised me to contact EVERY single locale and ask them to change the category, which is complicated, because only .com allows you to contact them for their KDP service.
@@DaleLRoberts I hope they will equalize the groups. I understand that every locale is translated in its own language, but apparently, they have different groups altogether, which basically means, every locale is kind of a separate website of its own with its own rules and decisions.
Thanks for the excellent info again, there's something that's confusing me a little. Do the ten categories overwrite the BISAC ones? or are they totally different? I'm confused as I've seen other youtubers say that you should just add 8 additional ones.
The BISAC is only for internal use and not for marketplace use. It's how Amazon determines where to fit your book (based on the BISAC and keyword choice). However, you do get 2-3 categories once you launch. If you want to replace those, then tell them to replace them.
@@DaleLRoberts Now your sounding like Cyrus from The Warriors "Caaaan youuuu diiiig iiiiit" LOL!! (if you can remember that one, or did i go to far back ?lol)...but yes, did dig it a lot:)
HI Dale, Thank you for all the great Videos! They help tremendously. My question is - I was hoping to find a video of yours that explains how to bid for Ebooks since they are much less expensive to purchase. Do you have any videos specifically on AMS ads and Ebooks/word bids etc? Thanks so much in advance.
Are the ebook and paperback browse paths independent? I mean, Do I have the option of 10 categories for the ebook and another 10 for the paperback (20 in total)? Thanks a lot for your content!
You’re correct in the latter. You get 10 browse paths each. And, the types of browse paths are different for the product type. So, make sure you’re researching in the right categories according to the product type. Good question!
@@DaleLRoberts One more question Dale: How can I ask the KDP support team to add my book to some categories but WITHOUT removing the current categories? (Because I'm really happy with the 2 categories I've chosen in my KDP Dashboard)
Hi Dave. Got a question on book category selection. My book whilst fictitious in its content, nonetheless engages real world events, affairs, history etc. I was wondering if it was possible to select a category option from the Fiction section of the Amazon KDP and another option from the Non Fiction list? Is it advisable to do this, or will it mess things up? Best

Thanks!
I needed this today. Thank you.
Wonderful! I've been getting a ton of requests and questions about categories, so this couldn't have come at a better time.
Good stuff. This is one of the first things you taught me.
Did you like the new resource?
@@DaleLRoberts It looks interesting. I should be testing it out soon.
Very useful Dale, as usual!
You changed your intro slogan, hasn´t you?
Thanks and kudos to you!
Cheers
Haha 🍌you’re the first person to pick it out. I dropped it to one line and now intro as just Dale.

That is pretty wonky how they have that set up. I’m sure in due time, they’ll centralize all these types of things.

Sorry Dale, 10 categories for ebook + 10 for paperback? Or a total of 10? Thanks!
Ten each 😎🔥💪
