Great website! I was wondering if you could do a video or just a brief description on how to put fonts onto an iPad. I do most of my presentations from my iPad but keynote is quite limited on it's font selection. Thanks so much.
Update: I haven't tested it myself but apparently there are apps out there that allow you to add fonts to be used within some other apps. I can't recommend any because I haven't checked them out, but you can Google it.
+Oskar Wieczorek Sorry you're having trouble. We can't provide individual tech support. Your best bet is to contact your local Apple Store or dealer for assistance.
Great tip, Thanks! Could you cover the best way to manage a font collection on a Mac? Every time I try to manage all my fonts, it devolves into a miserable exercise of font family chaos. I've learned to just say no, and install no new fonts.
Hmmm. I downloaded 4 fonts to my mac. Installed all of them. Closed and reopened the app I was working on. The fonts aren't there. Then I found another site that told me to change the preference of the folder where newly installed fonts are stored (the default was the "User" folder). Changed that to "Computer". Installed the fonts again. Now in "Font Book" all 4 of my new fonts are in the "All Fonts" folder, the "Computer" folder, and the "User" folder. Good, huh? I closed my app again. Reopened the app. The fonts still aren't there! Now I'm on the phone with Apple to find out what is going on.....
Hi David, first of all I want to thank you for all your amazing tutorials they are really helpful. But for some reason I am having a problem openings up the fonts after I down loaded them. I am on my iPad so I am not sure if that makes a difference. As you can see by this I am not a computer whiz. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?

Hello, thanks for the tutorial, it's really helpful. But I somehow cannot change to installed font in Keynote or Layout or Powerpoint... What could be the issue? Thank you for the response ;) you're awsome!
+MrkoTheBeat Haven't heard of that issue before. Only suggestions I can think of are 1. Close those programs and reopen and try again. 2. Be sure you've actually installed the fonts in question. (Open FontBook on your Mac to see if they are listed there).
+Mark Collier Could the issue be, that fonts I installed aren't TTF or OTF? I installed font on Windows, but the same font doesn't want to install on my iMac
hi david. when i open the zip file, it doesn't say install. just a licence file and a jpeg of the font. i use irfan as my default graphics opener. can u advise please?
If i choose one of these TTF and use that font in my email or my docs and send it to others won't it convert that chosen font to only what they have installed on their computer?
That is correct. The end-user has to have that specific font on their computer or it will choose another font. That's why using special fonts is most helpful in things like graphic design and not so much in things like Microsoft Word. If you want the end-user to be able to view it in the way that you originally created it, simply save it as a PDF and then it will retain all of the design that you originally created.
If you get that error, don't download that font. There's something wrong with the file, so either search for the font somewhere else or just pass on it.
+Volronalex Yes its possible data can be recovered if its been deleted but not always guaranteed, especially if more data has been written to the hard drive.
+Volronalex if the Data is super important to you its best you send your drive to a professional data recovery lab to recover the files as you only get a few goes to get it right then your data is gone for good depending on the health of your drive.
David I just want to say that I use you tube a lot to find "how tos" and when it comes to things about my Mac, you are the best!!

This is only for Mac or PC
Just to follow up - you can't install fonts on an iPad.
Update: I haven't tested it myself but apparently there are apps out there that allow you to add fonts to be used within some other apps. I can't recommend any because I haven't checked them out, but you can Google it.
Thanks sir David. :)
thanks dave!!
Hey, David, how did you do the subscribe button animation at the end?
Will the fonts also appear for use in Final Cut Pro and iMovie? Thank you for such a helpful video xx
Yes they will.

+MrkoTheBeat Most likely. I'm not familiar with formats other than those two. What format are you using and where did they come from?
I think Dafont is a good website for this as well. I use it all the time! :)
+ThinkCleverAndSmart / Yes I agree, been using dafont for years.Very well organized. / • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
David, once I've installed a font . . . what then? How do I access it from my apps?

If you install a font, it will automatically be available on programs next time you open them.

The fonts on your computer should be available in the app. Are they not?
hi david. when i open the zip file, it doesn't say install. just a licence file and a jpeg of the font. i use irfan as my default graphics opener. can u advise please?
whats the font in the thumbnail
I'm sorry if this is obvious... but where are these fonts downloaded to for use? your desktop? Photoshop?
You can use them in a variety of applications including design, documents, videos, etc.
+Mark Collier Thank You!!! Please keep up the great work!!!!!
+AJ ATL Go to finder and go down to downloads it will be in that folder.
Hey David, just a heads up, your website is currently offline :(
can i use thes on youtube
can i delete the file after i download it?
If i choose one of these TTF and use that font in my email or my docs and send it to others won't it convert that chosen font to only what they have installed on their computer?

+Big Blue Designs thank you for the PDF suggestion I did not know that.
No problem! Glad I could help. Keep in mind also that many people don't have Word, so that's another good reason to save as PDF.
I get an error message "1 serious error was found. Do not use this font" .. what should I do? How can I fix this?
If you get that error, don't download that font. There's something wrong with the file, so either search for the font somewhere else or just pass on it.
can you recover deleted files? is it truth that there is programs that can do that? (files, images, videos, etc) ?
+Volronalex Yes its possible data can be recovered if its been deleted but not always guaranteed, especially if more data has been written to the hard drive.
do you know a good tutoríal ?

*HOW DO I DOWNLOAD SAN FRANCISCO FONT FOR PC?* @DAVID
