Normally, this SA-X has 64000 health. If you reduce the health to a feasible amount and make the SA-X vulnerable to all types of weapon fire, you get this result................... - เกม

Even if you somehow use the fully upgraded beam it still doesn't deal any damage to any of the SA-X in their chase sequences, they are immune to everything until the part you are meant to fight them.
So super missles and wave beam only?
Encountering SA-X when underpowered was terrifying, it kills you in 3 shots...
even if you're 100%-ing the game it kills you in just a few shots
@@Meowmaritus Yeah, the only way you could realistically kill it without a TAS bot is with some kind of sequence break, and even then I don't know if you *can* sequence break this game. Compared to other 2D Metroid games this one is on the more solid end of the spectrum.
@@mickkelley3776 Sequence breaking is literally impossible. Just about any non-tank upgrade is tied to plot flags, and triggering any plot flag out of sequence just gives the message for level 1 doors opening and doesn't do anything else. It's only possible to change your equipment or flags using ACE. It is possible to have different equipment than the plot flag state would theoretically allow you to have, through altering the plot flag state via an out of bounds glitch that lets you directly alter the memory... but as mentioned before, the version of the SA-X that pursues you is flagged as being immune to all types of damage. Even if you enabled the fully powered suit, IIRC it would be impossible to damage them even with the powered up Ice Beam.
The version you fight at the end of the game is a different entity entirely.

In fact I've never actually beaten Fusion before (or any Metroid game apart from the original, for that matter, if you don't count Super Metroid's final escape sequence that is), so I genuinely have no idea how heavily the equipment relies on the plot.

This works pretty well lore wise. Afterall, the SA-X in the game multiplied several times over right? There's a built-in plot reason why they show up again once killed.
Yeah, Adam says there’s at least 10 of them after one dies in the metroid lab but you only ever see 2. After Dread I wanna see them remake Fusion now more than ever

I would love to see a Fusion remake released in a similar fashion to Xenoblade 2’s Torna expansion. You can either get it as DLC for Dread or get it standalone.

I know I'm not the only one, but I don't think very many other people look at SA-X, think "SAX!", and proceed to conjur up a mental image of the Samus knock-off pulling out a saxaphone to destroy the real Samus with smooth jazz.

Reminds me of getting a game over in MGS3 for killing Ocelot.
After my first playthrough, I tried to kill them with perfected movement. If it wasn't invincible, it would be a fun "boss you can actually kill if you're good enough".

Like Guardians in BOTW. To a new player, battling them is almost unthinkable, but to late-game and shield pros, they’re a fun easy mini-boss.

Considering that in the original game, the pursuit version of SA-X was completely invulnerable and could only be briefly frozen, this is an interesting hack.
According to the description, it typically has 64000 health.

This is pretty neat. The developers gave the SA-X a huge health bar instead of being invincible. Plus, since you're never meant to actually kill one until the end, it was never programmed to drop any normal X, so it just freezes up without any code to handle this properly.
A lot of games do this, its easier to make the health gigantically large and give it fast healing than it is to program an entirely separate invincibility is my guess
@@deadair32101 Yeah, that's the reason. Everything in the game is already set up by default to have a max value of health, and 0 or below during damage calculation means death, so it wouldn't have made sense to set up a unique enemy that never takes damage when you can't even kill the SA-X without hacks.
It's IS invincible actually. Anything without the Plasma Beam's flag does 0 damage. There is no more chases scenes after Plasma is acquired, so the huge HP bar doesn't even matter. He hacked the missiles to work here.
It really would have been cool if there was something special if you managed to somehow kill one, even though it’s impossible before the very end of the game. Like if it transforms into its frog… form thing, and then dies (maybe not absorb its core, although that’d be really cool).
there could have been a special conversation with Adam, having it being incredibly confused with it hinting you must have rushed hacks or cheats to kill it. Since it is normally impossible to even damage it.

Hmm it seems that the SAX can reproduce asexually as can the X themselves. Either way the SAX is still a threat so get back on task. Also I highly recommend you depower yourself and wait for HQ to send you the appropriate data when they’re ready. Now head for sector 5 and uplink me from the terminal there. Is your objective clear? (Select yes) Good now get going and hope that HQ doesn’t find out about this stunt you pulled.

There is actually an existing cheat code that let's you do what you've mentioned. I'll have to do some showcase tutorial video to prove it.

I love how you can still get hurt by touching it after stunning it and the getting caught music doesn’t stop adding to the tension.
My guess is the game gets stuck trying to call the code to handle the enemy dying but since there is none for the pursuit SA-X it just stops. Since the enemy isn't technically dead yet you can still get hurt by touching it but the room reload code doesn't respawn the half-dead SA-X since its not part of the normal room spawn
She's like, "Fine, you can go. I'll just hang around here." And she just stands there knowing none of your weapons at that point can ever truly kill her.

Ahh, such good memories, this game was cool. I have good memories of defeating the SA-X (when you're supposed to) without taking a hit. If you timed your jumps and your shoot button presses right, you'd fire, jump, and start charging within a few frames of each other so you could land after it screw attacks in your direction (you jump over it) and then you land, turn, fire, start charging and jump to repeat the process over and over again without getting hit.
You can't kill what was never alive to gin with.

How do you get your collectible progress to display on the map screen ? I just beat the game thinking I did well only to get 64 percent.

In the game itself it mentions later on after the first SA-X dies in the Metroid lab that there’s at most 7 SA-Xs on the station. It would be interesting if you hunted the others down first before activating the propulsion systems

The devs didn't make it invulnerable, just gave it an unreasonably high amount of health. Nothing you would be able to take down without hacking though.
@@redwidow1358 Yeah that's my point ! Making an enemy actually invulnerable is usually fairly easy (depending on the language it's usually just a matter of creating a new type of entity that's identical to enemies but have no concept of health and damage or just overriding the damage function so it does nothing) but here not only is it not invulnerable (though it's not humanly kill able without cheats) but it also actually triggers an effect that's still in the code of the game (probably part of the reason why they didn't bother redoing SA-X's whole code since that meant maintaining a lot of code vs giving it an obscene amount of health which is changing a single number). That tells me it was likely meant to be kill able at one point in the development. I have since confirmed the multiple SA-X story-wise so maybe you were supposed to annihilate them earlier on (or at least be forced to fight a couple of them).
@@DevilBlackDeath You were never supposed to be able to kill them. You can't kill them. They just keep sharing that information and merging with each other, creating infinite more. The best way to take them all out was always going to be blowing up the station, while the best way to handle encounters was always running instead of trying to fight something way stronger than you.

not really, no. they have a shit ton of health normally, and iirc only one type of attack actually hurts them. given that they can drain your health in a matter of seconds as well, and fighting them normally is pretty likely impossible to win.
even lore wise, by the time Samus can actually hurt them they've multiplied beyond an amount to stop with any sort of 1 on 1 fighting, which would be the only fights she would have a chance of not dying in

First off, the "10 SA-X" is just lore. Even including cutscene, the SA-X is only ever on screen 5 unique times.
During non-hacked gameplay, while you can freeze the SA-X with Ice Missiles, you cannot deal HP damage without the Plasma Beam. Once you get Plasma, you never see another SA-X until the final battle.

If i were to do a mobile port, it will pretty much end the chase, giving you 2 red x parasites, via a epic Death Animation.
