Please don’t take this as nothing more than constructive criticism. I have been an avid listener of the podcast since the start and have enjoyed every bit of it. Normally I don’t care about you guys talking over each other at all, however, this episode was the only one where I wanted to jump through my screen and ask you all to let Krystal speak her complete thoughts instead of interjecting every time she was in the middle of her testimony. At first, i was able to tune you guys out and just focus on her, but as the episode progressed it got worse. I understand that you all are friends and she probably saw nothing wrong with this, but as a listener it really rubbed me the wrong way. It almost felt like you all wanted to get your opinions out no matter what. everyone was progressively getting louder to talk over each other and be heard, even over her. Not to mention Krystal was interrupted by one of you asking a question that she had literally just answered/talked about. It comes across like everyone wanted to talk more than listen.
I’m sure you all get a pass on this one because she’s your best friend, however any other guest would have probably been annoyed at all the unnecessary interruptions. I’m a firm believer that when talking about heavy trauma with people who aren’t your friends requires a bit more self awareness and intrapersonal skills to know when to talk, when to hush, and how to say things. This was not it, sorry. I hope to truly listen to Krystal’s story without the background noise in the futures because her testimony resonated with me.

To add to your comment as just constructive criticism because I love this podcast!, I am halfway through her story and I agree that I wish some of them wouldn’t interrupt or try to fill in the story because it puts it out of order or she has to answer questions she would eventually get to, and it’s now like trying to put the puzzle pieces together. Like you said they’re friends so it’s okay and like a conversation (which I usually love) but with a difficult and traumatic story, where the purpose is to resonate or present a testimony with listeners who don’t know what happened, it doesn’t work well.

I see a lot of negative comments about Eliza and Karina interrupting a lot but I don’t think it was anything out of the ordinary. You have to remember this is a group of friends who supported Krystal through this difficult time in her life.
Mayra was quiet per usual so nothing out of the ordinary there either.
Respectfully they could all work on not talking over each other but they recognize that. Great episode overall, thanks for sharing and spreading awareness ❤

This is the real life shit that we can relate to or learn from! If you’re not a mom yet and you wish to become one keep in mind that once you have a baby you will exceed your own limitation ! You will be pushed to do the unimaginable and you will learn more about yourself than you ever thought possible. Moms have this supernatural strength when it comes down to the babies.

Crystal, if your sister in law really did get your case. If she's the supervisor signing off on these cases she first shouldn't have gotten your case, that's bias you cannot under any circumstance be involved in cases as a family member. I've worked for a county that did absolutely amazing work and this is something that should not have occurred. Called your county and report her. Speak to the director not the supervisor. Collect your evidence and fill out a report. That is definitely a reason for her to get a case open under her and for her to be reviewed.
Unfortunately, I understand them still opening a case and wanting to take custody of her. There's no solid evidence of you not being involved. Although, I trust your word in the eyes of the court system it's "your word against his," there's no way they would have not been able to leave her with you and not have gotten backlash. I feel for your situation as as a social work student who had interned with CPS I would have 100% worked hard to have your case closed because this clearly was neglect on his end not yours. I'm glad you stood tall and confident in your case, I can assure you that helped built credibility. Someone who cares that much and shows up emotion and confidence would not have been able do this to their baby. The system attempts to keep children within the family and if grandma has no cases against her and was not involved in the case not present in the home then yes she would be next of kin, however, the sticky part with that is "grandmas don't always view the wrong," meaning they could be allowing the perpetrators to see baby behind CPS knowledge. If the case is still undergoing and no one has found wrong then grandma is able to have custody. If she's letting him have contact with her then That's wrong. Send in that evidence that grandma was letting him see your baby, this way it'll be in the system if they ever try to clap back. The system unfortunately cares for the child's safety not if grandma is teasing you, not if grandma is arguing with you only is she is safely caring for baby which sounds like she did . Were your family members able to petition for custody? Anyone involved in the immediate home cannot have custody. I would even go as far as having a no contact order against him, not sure how that works since he isn't present in the country. As far as issues with grandmas, CPS won't get involved with that, that's straight to a family court. However, unfortunately every county works differently. Give your caseworker all of this information, girl I would have recorded convos, saved texts all of this. It sounds like grandma beat you to it a lot of it at times and told SW before you were able to which is unfortunate. I think it actually works in your favor that you have supervised visits, you can show them how you can interact with baby and not have grandma intervene.
It sounds like the new one you got is going great! I hope she continues to hold your case. I'm glad your case is moving forward, keep working with your case worker.
Take cara of Maya had private CPS, money comes in when cases are taken. That's a whole other conversation that I don't agree with.

This story is mind boggling, all my love and strength to Kyrstal. The fact that his sister is a CPS worker is horrible, the first rule is to protect children and see what's best for that child. And the fact that she and his entire family are behind him??! Honestly couldn't even expect much from a mexican mother always babying thier sons. Honestly Krystal is god sent because the patience she had could not be me.

I WENT THRU THIS FOR 20 YEARS! I was 17 when i got together with the father of my four daughters. He beat me, lied to me, cheated on me, put a knife to my throat twice, the last straw was him pushing me against the wall when i was two weeks away from giving birth to my youngest daughter. My chord snapped i bled he dropped me off at ER and left. I went into emergency CSection he walked in after i was put under anesthesia. I had my baby then three years later left. This is a very hard life to live. Speaking up is hard. Thank you for this episode!

Omg I’m so sorry you went through this! Your baby doesn’t deserve that, and you either! The fact that you can still thank the grandma after all she did to you makes you a saint! I hope your baby continues to hit her milestones and can flourish in therapy, es una hermosa! Seeing her made me 😢 and made me think of my baby, and I’m so thankful she has a good father. I wish you the best Krystal. This conversation was good, and I love the support the girls give Krystal by being mad for her. Keep it up girls, I love the chat between friends, and I don’t mind you all talking over each other 🤓.
