I have 55 years of owning and shooting shotguns so I think I know a little bit about them but I am also always willing to learn. Here is what I learned recently. I had the chance to do a detailed exterior and interior side by side comparison between the XLR and a Beretta 391 & A400. In my opinion, if anyone gets the opportunity to do this, you will arrive at the same conclusion I did, I.e. the XLR is FAR better and higher quality gun. Internals are all polished or plated, more robust in all critical areas, no plastic like the Beretta, MUCH simpler and easier gas system to maintain, and much more. Also a no questions asked 5 year warranty. Try that with Beretta! The only area that I can see that the Berretta was superior was in availability. The FR version is also not pricier than the Beretta but you have to go find one, unlike the Beretta that are everywhere.
