No joke... My first name is Rae and I live in Stacy! Roflmao! My store was destroyed by 2 in one storm in 2010... I became a trained spotter to help with the PTSD anxiety I get with storms now... Plus it helps other people... Our sirens failed that day so the only warning people got was media and when they say trained spotters confirm it makes it very real... Seems more people respond to that... Something good came out of it at least!

This is incredible camera work and awesome discipline to keep from freaking out and saying pointless words that would cover the sound of that beast, moving over those southern Indiana Hills.

You could tell that thing was going so slow and just stronger with every turn it took. As if it was deciding what it wanted to do, which path to take. I swear those things seem like they have some kind of an intelligence to them.

Christy Dunlap It wasn't slow at all. It's the fastest recorded tornado in terms of forward motion(50-75 MPH). It doesn't appear to be moving because it's heading straight towards the person recording.

I was in this tornado. It sucked bad. They had my kids facing the lockers in hernryville. We are from Wv so we've never dealt with twisters. It was horrible. The sirens were the worst part for me.

Awesome camera work Ed ! Some of the best tornado close up video I've ever seen and I've seen many. So smooth with the pans and no shaking. Looks like it's coming right at you there. Very scary.
Thanks for sharing this and I'm glad you guys came out unscathed.

Hello, I'm currently working on a video on the March 2, 2012 Tornado Outbreak and I was wondering if I could use this video in my documentary that I am currently working on with proper attribution and credit?
Let me know if you have any questions, and my business email is on my TH-cam channel if you need to discuss with me on this topic further.

Wow! You said it turned, and if that's the case, you were EXTREMELY lucky. It appeared to me you stopped filming at the right time to seek shelter. It appears from the film, it was on a path right for your location, and I would've been scrambling to gather things like photos and other sentimental objects (pets too). Telling you.....God must love you if it didn't hit your property. You stopped filming while it was less than a minute from hitting your location. Trust me...I've seen a few of these.

It's so amazing to watch a tornado "breath", is what I call it. You can see the suction up the sides of the condensation funnel -- something like the videos of May 20,2013, these tornadoes were pure evil. I can always tell what Fujita scale Tornado they are, just by watching the sides of that condensation funnel and seeing how wide the funnel is at that time. The most attractive, artful, or evil looking tornado was April 22, 2011 -- the Tuscaloosa EF-4, that looked freaking evil over all of them -- watch the videos. It had horizontal vortex' coming out from everywhere, like snakes. When that happens so crisp, you can tell that there is a lot of humidity in the air. Humidity to a tornado, is like gasoline to a fire.

    • @mpk6664

Size of the condensation funnel means nothing, the funnel could be a few feet wide, but the actual tornado could be a mile.
The only true way to tell by looks, is by looking for multiple vortices or satellites. That means it's EF3 or above.
