Who is the bad Valentine? Every good story is about development of the characters, preferably with a twist or realization on the way. While in the beginning it sounds like Angelina as the protagonist is cold and bad, we find out as we listen that it is not the case. She wants passion, fire and honesty. He is insincere, dispassionate and somewhat self absorbed - sees/hears only what he wants to see and hear, therefore will never really know her. If all passion is lost on his world, who is the bad Valentine?
Angelina is an outstanding story teller. Don't expect to get the whole story from the first verse. I always essume an unfolding tale and allow myself to be taken on her journey.

The instrumentation was just beautiful, and I really love those strings. There are so many supers to this pre-release, a jazzy song and production that was meant for Angelina. Her voice, as usual, just amazing, finally letting 'er rip. Her belting here was otherworldly! Bodes well for the year, for her fans, for anyone who loves good music. This one will surely make the charts.

Yes a great song . I wonder how many of Tobys hit songs , were breakout songs for the artist . Or were they all established artists. If this is to be a chart hit for Angelina it will have to promoted heavily .
Fergie, Demi Lovato, John Legend and Beyonce were established artists. Also remember that he helped cowrite the songs. They aren’t just his songs and from what Ive read, If I Were a Boy seemed to be primarily BC Jean. In fact she wasn’t really happy at first when she found out Beyoncé was recording the songs. Her original intent was not to give away the songs they wrote together.

At least she is learning from the experience. In real life, the guy would see himself as a victim, feel sorry for himself, and totally fail to learn anything, repeating the pattern with every girl he meets.

understand your love for Amy. It's just that I have seen MANY live performances of Amy where she is singing off key, or flat, usually drunk or wasted.
