In this episode, Spoon entrusted me with their FK7 Civic demo car while I was having my new transmission installed, so I did what I'm sure any of you guys would do immediately. I sent it on the C1 Expressway under the premise that I was making a review video hehe.
In all seriousness, super huge thanks to Spoon for letting me take out their FK7. It's an awesome car that approaches the performance of the FK8 Type R for less money, and a lot more scene points.

I like their FK7. I think it's a beautifully modded car that's not overstated.
I owned a 10th gen Si before my FK8. Both tuned. Stepping from the 1.5 in the FK7/FC2/3 to the 2.0 in the FK8 is an insane difference. The suspension setup in the R is crazy too, I'm sure a Spoon setup FK8 would be absolutely incredible.

Even though I love my JDM cars like the GTR, Supra, RX7, NSX, etc. In my heart, there's always a special place for the Civic.

I totally get your first impression! On one of my early test drives, I noted the same issue as you where the hood/bonnet sides were blocking my view. Like two mountain ridges or brow lines. Now with the stock seat pumped high enough, it’s perfectly comfortable and a non-issue, both visually and for driving
I can’t wait to get my spoon turbo for my FK7 I just purchased it but now I need to upgrade the rest thermostat, radiator, intake etc
I just got my spoon turbo. And overall I haven’t installed it but I heard that you can get the same exact turbo from MHI. Apparently MHI makes the turbo and spoon just puts the “spoon” badge on it. I got the turbo for a little bit cheaper since a friend sent it from Japan and I just zelle him money but even tho I got it cheaper from him in Japan it’s $1900 buying it from MHI themselves. Regardless I’m just happy to have a bigger turbo.
Incase anyone was wondering my friend got it for me for $2500 not including shipping, and to buy it in America it’s $3085.

@@1Neoblast1 I never put it on. I have it in my closet and its sat in my closet for over a year now. I did however upgrade other things like clutch (since the stock clutch couldn't handle power after i tuned it) Koyorad radiator, spoon thermostat, spoon clutch line, stainless steel brake lines. I just haven't put on the turbo simply because I don't really care about it yet. My civic is tuned on hondata while still having a lot of stock components just bolt ons. I haven't put anything on just because I'm satisfied with how its running right now and how much power im pushing. I also didn't put it on because if i did i would be put into higher classes brackets at races for time attack and i know that my civic wouldn't be able to compete against other cars like boosted k20s in a civic ek chassis. currently the car is making 215hp and 176 torque. It has a really good high end now but one thing that the FK7 needs is an LSD. lmk if you have any questions or anything ill be more than happy to reply
@@Jakupdoesnt yes the LSD completely changes the FK7. I installed the mfactory helical one. One of the best handling mods I got in the car.
@@1Neoblast1 is it a night and day difference? I’m looking to either install a Mfactory Helical LSD or hopefully finding a SI transmission for a decent price

I may have missed it, but have you shown the cost of having a shop like Spoon do work on your car? It's be a really good way to see what quality work costs overseas here in the US. Seems many people don't know that Japanese people are also willing to spend mad $$$ for the things they want as well!
I did in a previous video, but its essentially the same cost as having work done at any random Honda dealership!
Now that the new Civic is out and looking better than ever I can't wait to see what Spoon does with the new Civic!

That's pretty cool that the fk7 can be made fast and fun too! My fiance has a 2019 fk7 and I always thought they were kinda boring and you had to have the fk8 type r to have fun in the 10th gen civic but I'm proven wrong!

Are the connecting rods the same as the SI? The non-SI rods are thinner, so I wonder about reliability @ 275 HP...

Your spidey senses do not deceive you. The FK7 is a big car. It was the first thing I noticed driving home from the dealer and further confirmed when I tried parking it in my one car garage. My other car is a 2006 Mazda Tribute which fits easily in the same garage so I looked up the measurements and sure enough FK7 is longer than the Tribute 😂

No it’s a civic hatchback non type r model

@@afiqrizal9949 in North America we have civic hatchbacks they come in different trims. You have LX, EX, Sport, Sport touring. The sport model and sport touring come in Manual and or automatic with a bit more power than the regular LX and EX model that have less horsepower (10-15 hp less). Japan has these too obviously (this TH-cam video)

@@Jakupdoesnt I drive the 2016 EX trim model which has K20 engine from factory, and it has almost the same internal engine parts as the Type-R's engine
