You look at the solo works of Thom, Jonny, Phil and now Ed and you can see why Radiohead is one of the greatest bands on the planet. Each member is a brilliant songwriter in their own right!
@@spacebubble5070 I think Colin is not a songwriter, in fact, he learned to play bass because Radiohead needed a Bass Player... But here is Colin Greenwood playing for Tamino. Just magic! th-cam.com/video/lhkaTegZcQ0/w-d-xo.html
Might partially be due to Omar Hakim being the drummer, he was the same guy who played on "Serious Moonlight". The man is amazing, check out his discography.
The guitar in this is insane, really good song. Oh yeah and also this song has what was originally the title lyric: "On this pale blue dot" So that's cool I guess
This entire sequence is pure magic up there with some of Radiohead’s greatest moments…the shining moments on this album where the parts where the textures were just allowed to roam free, like the end of Shangri-La and Brazil and this of course
Well done, Mr. Edward John O'Brien. I am glad that there are some excellent musicians who rely on other great influential musicians without having to point how or why. ‘Achtung Baby’ / ‘Zooropa’ / ‘Pop’ were the trilogy peak of exploration and daring new soundscapes from one of the greatest bands ever.
@Dave Hughes … your insight is absolutely welcome. As a matter of fact, it is one of my all time favourite recordings, though highly influenced by the mastery of Brian Eno, falling apart from the mentioned trilogy. Just a trivia note: www.u2.com/news/title/blue-room
that part at 3:00 minute THAT GOES WELL DEEP INTO 5 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW THAT i feel it and i love it! so much, it's like a reflexion on the guitar sound era of well, from "in rainbows" to "a moon shaped pool" but there is....OH THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE TO HERE SO STONE ROSSESY soooooo hypnotic and beautiful and aaaaah
Ed..i will buy your Album...not only because this is great Music...also because you are such a humble and nice person..you or the official reflection of you or both...^^
I absolutely can't wait for this album. I heard all but one track at one of his first solo shows and I know it's going to be amazing, now it's just a matter of hearing everything as crisply as this track. So glad Ed finally did a solo project!
Wow! This sounds so beautiful in studio, amazing! Now I feel like dancing and dancing and dancing... I really enjoyed this song, it's like a beautiful party of sounds. Great job from all of you! Thanks for Olympik! 🙌🏼 ♥️
thanks ed thanks fanta-san kinda forgot about your album since nicole atkins kinda put her album in queue for june and it was coming the same way as yours but this friday i'm really just waiting for the strokes because "at the door" is
Don't know if Ed was planning it, but here's what it does to me at about 5:00. I'm frolicking on the beach, all's good, I'm wading in the water, the kids are playing...and I look up and a big wave is coming, and oh crap, it might be a tsunami! It's coming. You can't stop it. It keeps coming, and finally crashes over you. But almost immediately you realize it was just a big wave, and you are standing firm on the sand, and you look immediately over and the kids are still building their sand castles.
Good song, but does anyone feel like it borrows a little too much from In Rainbows? I hear "Weird Fishes" right around 3:42; ironically, the same refrain happens at nearly the exact same second in Weird Fishes...
Who is still lstening to this master piece!? ❤
I listen to it all the time!

@@AlSeg Maaaan!!! Totally... 15 Step, I Might be wrong, My iron lung, Airbag, Morning bell and many others are proof of it!
@@spacebubble5070 I told ya!
spacebubble In an interview I just read with Ed, apparently Colin is “working on stuff”.
I got a lot of Achtung Baby vibes from this song and I'm totally digging it
th-cam.com/video/jxckC1idOMo/w-d-xo.html
Just thought the same from the very first moment. Good song!
a lot of Konklins plesiosaur album too
Yes, and Zooropa too
nah This is u2 Europa -popmart tour ( having been to both shows ) .
the baseline is pure Live Pop ( lemon )
guitar "do you feel loved"
That soundscape is a worldscape. The album gotta be a universescape of sounds.
I actually went to a record store and bought this album. My car is really old so only plays cds. Great album for travelling
U2 ❤️
3:23 until 5:00 is amazing! Spike Stent, insert that part at the end of the official version!
It sounds like part of the live version of Cymbal Rush by Thom when he was on the Henry Rollins show.
that part kills me
エドさんは声が綺麗。
やはりギター中心に音が心地良い。
マイルド。
I feel some massive 90's Bowie vibes here. Awesome work, Ed!!
Might partially be due to Omar Hakim being the drummer, he was the same guy who played on "Serious Moonlight".
The man is amazing, check out his discography.
I thought I was listening to INXS until I checked.
Cannot handle the drums from 5:00 onwards. The groove is infectious.
I think this would fit perfectly on U2's Pop album with Discotheque and Mofo.
I can't stop dancing to this.
Yeah, keep dancing....
I can visualise "The Fly" or Mr. Macphisto singing and dancing to this song whilst The Edge is doing backing vocals.
The guitar in this is insane, really good song.
Oh yeah and also this song has what was originally the title lyric: "On this pale blue dot" So that's cool I guess
You guess?
I’m the only one who think that Ed is singing here like Bono/The edge ?
Pop Films yep, reminiscences of Zooropa and Passengers too
Love the bass, thicc
To me that’s the worst part of the song. It drowns out everything around it. Other than that it gets pretty hypnotizing during the halfway point
The bass meshes so well with the beat and soundscape.
The fantastic Nathan East on bass! :D
@@theaziz2001 it's your headphones or speakers that make the bass sound louder than it's
Dedar Q I realized that recently. It’s now one of my favorite songs of the year lol
3:23 This moment is when my soul perked up. I still have goosebumps listening to it now.
This entire sequence is pure magic up there with some of Radiohead’s greatest moments…the shining moments on this album where the parts where the textures were just allowed to roam free, like the end of Shangri-La and Brazil and this of course
Ed sure likes making long songs, this could have lasted 20 minutes and I wouldn't have minded one bit! great track
Love all the textures and layers of this song, brilliant.
Amazing....in a different time, with people in the industry who cared about music this would be a number 1 single
For everyone who was wondering he posted a few days ago saying he’s feeling fine now!
2:50 the closed captions say the lyric is "I want this paradise," but he actually says is "On this pale blue dot"
ikr

Reminds me being a kid and dancing to INXS ...feels sweet ...thanxs ...this is all so awesome...
you can really hear the Flood influence here
That bass line is dope
Im pretty sure Colin Greenwood did it so it adds up why its so good
Loving this. Wasn’t expecting Ed’s music to be this good or have so much groove so I can’t wait to hear the album.
How could you not expect it??? Hes always been a bad ass leader ♡

Awesome ! This sounds like a combination of Radiohead and U2
The intro is one of the most powerfull things I've heard in years
3:23 what a strong feeling
New music from EOB = instant stress relief
Completely surprised with this production!
"Lift(ing) us up on the highest high" is definitely what this song does. Those guitar parts, wow!
are unlisted The edge samples
Get well soon Ed! Can't wait for this album.
love this
Getting serious U2 vibes... "You're the real thing! Even better than the real thing!!"
The album was produced by Flood who also produced U2's Achtung Baby
What a fantastic groove❤
I got chills, fucking amazing.
I'm so looking forward to this album! 🖤
Digging the new LP. And Flood, as usual, is amazing. Nice work Ed. "Brasil", "Shangri-La" and "Olympik" are great tracks.

Great song! It sounds like a TKOL song that we could actually dance to 🕺🕺
Implying that you can't dance to Lotus Flower
Implying that you can´t dance to Little by Little or Separator
Idk bout you but I dance to Codex on a daily basis
I really like TKOL guys, it's my second favorite record of theirs (IR being the first), but dancing to jittery polyrhythms is just not my style 🙏
