It was mentioned at least once in this comments section, but Ross Chastain (a NASCAR driver) used the wall ride in real life as a "hail Mary" move at the end of a race to gain enough positions to keep himself in contention for the winning of the series. Now, it DID destroy the car, so it is NOT something that can be done over and over, and it truly can only be used in certain circumstances, but it IS a viable move in real life (provided the rules allow it). It must be said that it shocked a lot of people and even the driver wasn't sure it would work, but he had 1 shot and nothing to lose by doing it. The one radio comment summed it up: "That was the coolest thing I've ever seen!"

It boggles my mind that wall riding results in basically no speed loss in this day and age hope they fix that in the next game that i wont be able to play
Unless the wall is made of greased-up smooth ice, wallriding into a curve should cause at least some serious speed loss and most likely a spin-out.
Racing games don't have proper physics and damage models, this is the result.
I do think that GT shouldn't have these things as it is a fun arcady game more than a sim.

@@ChicaneMedia open wheel cars in gta cars is way worse. There’s usually only one other person than me that knows how to race and nobody brakes into the first corner. I can start in last, peel off to the outside around turn 1, wait, and move up into a podium position every time lol.
I've witnessed more car-related chaos in Wreckfest then in GTA V.

and at the end of the race at 24:12 it seems like guy who's second to last has caught on and tried it as well

That second race was fantastic driving, little human errors, heaps of respect, no one being salty over small contact. I loved it. Thats that one special race for me, it's only half way done so I don't know if it gets shitty lmao but so far so good!

I want to create a style of car and track where wallriding can actually be done in reality. Seems like it would require some pretty heavy duty space age materials, but the cars don't need to turn anyway the walls will do it for them so they can just be missiles made of lead.
best idea ever. havnt had new type o racing in decades. this is it, have rollers off factory production lines on the walls. even give them motors to spin up and give cars a boost as the side touchs the rollers

I'm usually a pretty respectful and careful driver when racing, yet if I was in his position on the long straight with the wallrider, you best bet I would pit maneuver him.
A tricky course, a Super GT high on helium, a non-stop whatsapp and a wall rider. What could possibly go wrong?

Imagine a sim racing game where slamming yourself into a wall makes you faster...
Apparently, the GT devs couldn't imagine the opposite of that.

@@mdhcccc Assetto Corsa and iRacing are two racing games with alot better stimulation. GT isn't even a sim, it's an arcade racer, as clearly shown in this vid. Always has been...
Edit: also, not a full on sim but Forza Motorsport games has more realistic physics than GT.
Haven't watched in a while, but the quality has definitely gone up. Thanks for not using autotune anymore, I really respect the honesty.

Some races do have a level of damage, but probably not in this specific race, which seems like an oversight. At least they should have turned wall contact penalties on
Scraping the wall = totally allowed
Getting bump drafted = 5 second penalty

I believe the high-pitched (and sometimes manifests as low-pitched) effect is a result of a bitrate issue, Super GT.
