Hakeem eventually got 2 chips in the 90s, but it makes you wonder if the 1986 team stayed together they would have been a continuing threat to the Lakers.
@@John-ct9zs if Sampson never got injured and he played at a high level along with dream I think they could've got one on the bulls. MJ already admitted they had no answer for Hakeem
Rockets have had some of my all time favorite players on their rosters, Steve Francis, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Cuttino Mobley, Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady.
I was a teenager watching this in Houston at an apartment. It was almost midnight in Houston and when ralph made that shot I yelled at the top of my lungs that the neighbor called to see if we were ok
Great vid!! I was 11 when this all went down. But....left out of that game 7 vs LA - Magic missing a wide open layup late & of course, Dream pimp slapping Kupchak!!
Clyde is my favorite player but there was a reason he went 14th in the draft. He was a gifted athlete but could not shoot. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jack ramsey he developed his game and became the super star we all know. But coming out of college all he was a very athletic prospect
@@NickIntoTech I remember in the interview IN 87. Magic said that they wanted HOUSTON rather than SEATTLE to face in the WCF.. I would want to watch that rematch between LAKERS-ROCKETS in 87 WCF.. but THE SONICS have other ideas

A Celtics fan, I was 17 years old and stayed up til about 1am Boston time, to watch this game hoping the Lakers would pull it off because I so desperately wanted to see the '86 Celtics take them down. I sat stunned when he made that shot and was so pissed off. Beating the Rockets win the '86 title was just so anti-climactic.
The Sampson shot started my Rocket fandom....I've been a die hard fan ever since
I'm celtics fan I saw this after watching the 86 banner documentary, why didnt the rockets keep holding off the lakers ?

With a healthy sampson and the great Hakeem this was a Dominating team they ran the fast break and they dominated the post great memories great shot
And it could've been with Drexler instead of Rodney McCray.
I will never forget Sampson's 2 second shot!!!
Yes bro I swear it was a great shot ended it in 5.

Uno de mis momentos favoritos
It goes!!! It's over!!! Not exactly what the Celtics wished for but a Championship is just that, a Championship.
I remember I was in middle school when this playoff run happened.
Go rockets 💪👊💪💪
How bout that game 6 performance against Boston? What a legend.
When I think of Twin Towers, I think Sampson and Olajuwon.
_go rockets_ *-yay-*
Wow , always forget how Houston got all that talent
The rockets used to be built on the tall centers! In recent years, there is a great switch to the small ball movement!
That's cuz the NBA doesn't represent real basketball anymore
Hey Rockets channel, where's that motivational video "WHEN DID IT START FOR YOU?" It was taken down.
Ultimately the final tally was Magic 3, Bird 1
4:09 And to think, that breakaway pass could've been Peterson to Clyde Drexler instead of to McCray! Still smdh.
Could you imagine if Clyde would've been on this 86 Rockets team?!

The Lakers got humiliated so bad by these 86 Rockets.

Even the 86 MAVS would beat those 87 SONICS.. they are just lucky SAMPSON GETS HURT
For context should have included Olajuwon punching Kupchak
Good stuff rockets i love that we ruined a potential 3peat from the lakers .
No one has 3 peated since LA though.
How he made that shot
Only by this shot he becamed a Hof, nothing bad for a less than 5 times all-star.

The Basketball HOF isn’t for just NBA players. Sampson had a great college career. That’s why he’s in the hall of fame.

The Lakers purposely blew the Houston series to deny the Celtics the satisfaction of avenging the 85 finals.
