I just got an aircraft that had the XM+ in it. WOULD NOT BIND. I ended up flashing the firmware to make it compatible with my QX7. THEN with the help of this vid, I finally got it all to work. Thank you for this vid !
Thanks for the video. I also have a XM+ and X7. Lights stayed red/green, flashing new version (2.0.2) did not help. But an older firmware version did work! (XM+170313) On the receiver it reads: "XM Plus V4.1 20151009". Maybe this info helps someone else.
Hey Edrone i put in a brand new xm+ receiver into my taranis qx7 for my HGLRS Arrow3 4s and the green light and the red light come on but while holding the bind button and when i repower the quad i get only red lights on my xm+ reciever? It will not arm and the receiver will not respond? Can you tell me why this is happening?

I bought this reciever for my first build. It never lit up when powered. Went to check and see if it was getting power with ohm meter and accidentally touched the 5v connection to the ground. All lights on the fc went off instantly. Now fc will work when powered by usb but nothing when connected to battery. I guess maybe fried whatever regulates the power on the fc. Anyways, ordered new fc and receiver. Can i solder the new reciever to the new fc and power it with usb and bind it before connecting it to a battery or does the reciever need to be powered by a battery?
Depends on the flight controller and your PC USB port some will pass enough voltage to power receiver, and some wont I would say try it with USB first and if your receiver does not show activity in the receiver tab then you will need to use lipo to power up the receiver
I think it's bound but now but I've got a flashing a green light on the transmitter but can't arm it. I'll hit you up later in the week. Thank you so much brother!!!👍
Hey man I got my xm+ to bind but when I first power on I get the flashing red to green lights then it will randomly switch from solid green to solid red and back to solid green. I also get no response from the tx in betaflight. Any suggestions?
Norcorider209 you may need to flash the receiver with different firmware the tara taranis is capable of doing this you have to hook up your taranis to your PC load the firmware to your taranis FCC in the USA CE everywhere else then you hook your taranis to your receiver and flash firmware you will need to make a cable though to connect to your receiver and to your transmitter
edrone this is actually the 2nd receiver I’ve tried I had solid red and green on the first one. Set up a servo cable for the smart port to flash it but I would get a bottom pin no response error. The new one bound no problem but does that funky shit. I’ve had a rooster built for 3 weeks that I can’t get into the air. I have been extremely discouraged by it. I guess I have a cool paper weight though.
edrone from left to right on the smart port gnd 5v s. I flashed it with 170313 rssi 16 a little bit ago and everything seems to work good now! Solid green light and no more switching to red. My computer crashed on me a few days ago and all my buddy’s with betaflight are out of town until tomorrow so I’ll have to wait on that. Thanks man I appreciate it.
Hello, If you done this got it to bind and it turned green and everything, but you go to set up arming in betaflight but its not recognizing the qx7. What could that be. My buddy got a qx7 and xm plus from my other buddy and its doing this. The only thing i can think is maybe he didnt set up a completely new model on the qx7 and hes trying to use the model that was already on it when he got it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Though if he is trying to use an existing model that was on the qx7 when he got it and creating a new model with his quad/fc could this be or cause problems?
My bind was successful. But when I plug into betaflight the receiver tab isn't picking up stick inputs? Someone help please. This is my first drone. Thanks
Try unplugging power couple times while the receiver tab is open also do you have the correct uart enabled for your serial rx in the ports tab plus make sure to select serial based receiver and sbus in the configuration tab
for some reason on the drone it has a green light but the controller has no indication if biend connected and when i plug it in to betaflight it says nothings connected but the light is still green pls help
Doesn't work for me. :( When I start the quad regularly it flashes red and when I push the button on the transmitter while powering it up it light green and red up without flashing and so it doesn't bind to my QX7. Anyone help?
What firmware does it have? And where are you located? You want to make sure you have the correct version of firmware for your location example eu for outside United States or fcc for United States
ITS NOT WORKING IVE TRIED FOR SO LONG ON GETTING MY RECEIVER TO TURN GREEN HOW DO I DO IT. NOW IT FLASHES GREEN WHEN I TRY TO BIND IT. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry my friend you are having trouble you have to make sure the bind button is pushed down all the way while you power it up sometimes it may feel like its depressed but it may not be you may want to get someone to help you out as it's very difficult by yourself
If you have access protocol you need to register the receiver by holding down on the bind button and clicking on register on your transmitter once you do that you will then power cycle then will click bind on your radio And then power up your receiver And complete the buying process by pushing OK on the transmitter

What do you have your receiver set to in the configuration tab? Also what uart is your receiver soldered to? Is that the same in betaflight you have to set the correct uart for your serial receiver
I have my Receiver set to Serial-based receiver and SBUS for Serial Receiver Provider. I have my receiver soldered to uart 4 which I have now enabled the Serial Rx under ports. I have not set peripherals to anything. It's on disabled and Auto. After all of this, I still cannot get a response with the Taranis. @@edrone_
Make sure you the bind button is clicking when you push and hold it down. It is very easy to think the button is pressed when it's actually not. Also depending on which firmware and protocol you are using on your radio can make a difference also. If you have a frsky receiver with access protocol firmware and your radio is not set to access it won't work either.
