Thanks for this video! I neglected to paint reference marks on my gears before removing them.
I was confident someone would have an easy-to-understand tutorial for proper alignment. Yours is the best!

Been putting together my first full engine for a spec 944. Every time I look for the inside knowledge on TH-cam it's always your info that is most usefull..useful... thanks!!

Thank you very much sir. The class is called 944 Spec. Not spec 944. That’s an SCCA class

You should write a manual of your own, Tim. You know sooo much. It needs to be captured.

    Always great 944 input
Thanks for the info - had to double check my balance shaft sprockets were correctly aligned.
Got a vibration at around 3200 rpm and only there with both clutch depressed and released .
Engine mounts are ok , but i did replace the rubber clutch with a spring plate . Something out of balance possibly? Crank pilot bearing newish , but torque tube end shaft that locates in pilot bearing could be worn - could that be an issue do you think?

Thanks for the nice words. I don't think the tip of the shaft is the problem. Your vibration is classis clutch disc failing symptom, but you have a new clutch. Drive shaft? Tranny? Not sure.

I just bought a 944 turbo and it vibrates pretty bad. The previous owner had a Ford dealership do all the service on the car.

Hey Tim it’s sandy. Do you think some time you could make a video going into detail the auto belt tensioner? How to get proper belt tension with it?

There's nothing to it. Compress it, install it, release it. Check for freedom of movement and tighten it down.

With the o on the lower, was it up how you had it laying on the bench in the video?

It was sitting on the "bench" upside down from how it's actually installed on the engine yes, but if you put the keyway up and the O shows up in the rectangle window, you've got it right. The mark on the lower section of the rear belt cover is near the bottom of the "installed" pulley.

Then you have dumbshits that put them on BACKWARD!!!!!! You know...... LOL Also even if you're spring tensioner doesn't have the holes in it for the balance shaft tool, you can use the recesses molded into the tensioner lever.
