    1.4 mild is clearly a more practical and balanced car

    We have just taken delivery of this model. Had a Vitara petrol automatic before. Both very similar in many respects. This is quieter than the Vitara, especially at low speeds and, obviously, when working in EV mode. I agree that the gearbox is rather unusual. It just seems an awful lot of complicated engineering for relatively little reward in efficiency/fuel consumption - but it's early days yet in our ownership and I have no comparative figures to report. A degree of engine braking is evident and a nice feature, when in Eco mode. It is a well finished car and pleasant to drive and functional for the money. I am pleased with Suzuki but would like there to be a choice of an all-electric version with, say, a 300-mile range - it shouldn't be too long a wait. I should also mention that the change from engine to electric and vice-versa is seamless, with no sudden movement or detection of the engine starting.

    The dealer has been trying to upgrade me to s cross but no thanks. I will stick to my 1.4l petrol vitara

      Hello Fayzur, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment 👍🏽.

    The trick with the gearbox is to use the paddle to put it into petrol mode and you will pull away very smartly. Otherwise the car takes a split second to think electric or petrol try it and let me know what you think?

      I can't Mark, the car went back to Suzuki weeks ago, it wasn't my car buddy. Thanks for watching.

    Is the automatic transmission in 1.4 l better than in this 1.5 l. We are really considering buying it, but we are tired of shifting gears, so we would like an automatic. Also, is the gas mileage lower in the 1.5 l ??

      If you're looking at a brand new S-Cross it's worth bearing mind that it's only available with the AGS, which I think is poor to be honest.

    I have heard that the manual version is better than the automatic.

      In my opinion it is - thanks for watching.

    Nice review . Like Suzuki as a brand but this one is just too slow for me . Give it another 80 bhp then I would be up for a test drive 👍🏼.

      Eso no va a ocurrir, así que estás destinado a prederte el test de un buen coche, aunque en este caso yo preferiría un MHEV

    And engine data you provided seems wrong? Did you make a mistake and took info from some other Suzuki?

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've just realised top speed is wrong (not sure how I got that wrong, it should be 108mph).
      I've double checked everything else and that appears to be correct?

    Boot space per data on net is 430l and by my eyes it look like 430 rather than 293 🧐

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      430 is for the mild hybrid version 👍🏽

      @@CarObsession Yes, I discovered that afterwards. Owing to the battery in the rear, the floor only has the higher position option in this model, whereas it can be dropped in the mild version, giving increased boot space.

    Thank god we don't have this abomination in New Zealand. We only get the 1.4 turbo MHEV engine in our Vitaras and S-Crosses, with six speed manual or torque converter automatic.
    The meager fuel savings if the MHEV are not tempting enough to get me to upgrade from my 1.4 Vitara turbo though.

    Just lift the foot of the accelerator for a sec, and don’t be impatient. You seem to be driving this in boy racer style.

      Driving this like a boy racer? I would beg to differ 😅. Thanks for watching.
      P.S. No matter what kind of driving I've done, the gearbox has been annoyance - watch my first drive with the Vitara Hybrid and you will find the same thing. I'm also not the only road tester to be critical of the gearbox, but I appreciate the feedback 👍🏽

      I enjoy reading your reviews. I’m long retired now and passed through that boy racer stages, going from Hillman Imp to MG Midget in my youth, then lots of cars including Mazda MX5, Mini, BMW, etc, etc, finishing up with 3 Jaguars before retirement. Then moved on to 4WD Peugeot then Jeep 4WD better to deal with winter conditions here in North of Scotland. Our roads are commonly empty therefore driving a Jaguar (at legal speed) was a delight. Just taken delivery of a Suzuki S-Cross 4WD Automatic after due trial. A car not considered at all previously. It is what it is so fingers crossed.😊
