O'Brien's sister wrote a long, brutal piece about John and explained that he tried to physically drink himself to death like his novel's character and found it too painful and drawn out. The agony was too unbearable. He said he would see demons coming out of the walls after the prolonged binges and he would never die at the end, he'd wake up in the hospital and his father would have to wheel him home, so he shot himself instead. In his box of belongings was the novel, "Better" and his Warner Bros contract. Really sad story.

I liked it all."[145] Following his graduation in 1989, he entered a drug rehabilitation program at age 22, and remained sober for 23 years. However, he relapsed in 2013, and admitted himself to drug rehabilitation for about ten days in May of that year."

Depressing if only for the fact that they hired a beautiful woman off the street and said to her "you wanna play Johnny Depp's obese mother in a hollywood movie?!" and then she agreed because who wouldnt, and then they fed her lemon glazes and cobblers and pies and made her 500 pounds just to make people sad when they watch the movie, and it didnt even lead to a movie career.
