I have an R100 Canon camera. I am so happy Sigma is authorized to make 3rd party lenses. I am saving up for this Sigma 18-50mm lens. I don't think I will ever buy a kit lens for my R100 as now the offerings of Sigma are so affordable and high quality for a hobbiest like myself.
Hello! Great video! With this lens you can take nice portraits with bokeh? I don’t know if I need this zoom lens or go with a 50mm prime lens for my Sony a6700, what would you recommend? I already have the Sigma 10-18mm f 2.8. I trust 100% your opinion and I let you choose what’s best for me as a newbie 🙏🏼🙏🏼. Maybe pairing the 10-18mm with a prime is better or would you choose this 18-50mm to pair with the other zoom? Thanks so much!!!!! ❤
Nice review/addition for a line screaming for options. It's minus weather sealing but at the price a sensible consideration for the R7, even if that sensor is stretching its capabilities for some more serious work. No IBIS below the R7 and no IS here it's not, personally, a reason for me to ''upgrade'' to RF-S from EF-S and I did in FF. More choice is welcomed.......
I currently use the R7 with an Ef-S 17-55mm F2.8 Is Usm with adapter, it is an old and heavy lens but it works great, in terms of quality is it a good option to sell the canon and buy the sigma for an R7? A comparison between the two lenses would be great.
Excellent review this lens in unmatched right now when it comes to price and quality. It's a shame there isn't IS but let's see how it performs on the r50 when I get it.
I think I will try and see if I can get this at a lower price in Hong Kong. This seems like a great versatile street photography, and travel lens. I will be my virgin trip with the Canon R7.
Great review! Can't wait to use this lens. Can you switch the focus ring to a control ring in the camera body? I hope so, it's possible with the rf 18-150 mm.
@@WilkinsonCameras Meanwhile I purchased this lens and to my surprise and delight, the focus ring can indeed be set to a control ring in the body of the R10 and R7!
Beautiful all around purpose lens came in time for a wedding shoot for my r7 Love the macro capabilities and simplicity of this lens above being a contemporary lens it’s very versatile and it’s consistent aperture is satisfying produce beautiful photos, affordable light to carry around …..tested it in low light it’s fast and af subject delivers quite amazing Looking forward to 1.4 primes for the r7 great for video paired this body with a r6 and you on your way Highly recommended happy shooting
Maybe since this is the first lens that use first-party RF AF system so the AF performance is massively different, and a match for R7 so you pretty much get full performance at all range but unless your lowlight situation isn't good for 2.8 then I would keep the Sigma 18-35mm
It depends on what camera body you shoot with. If you have an APS-C EOS R camera then yes I would trade in your EF lens for this lens, better focal length, compatible with most EOS R features and you won't have to use an adapter. If you have a DSLR then I would keep your current lens and look to upgrade to the EOS R system. If you want to get a quote for your EF lens for a part exchange with the new one then head to this link where you'll find some useful information: www.wilkinson.co.uk/part-exchange/ Hope this helps 😊
Another review where the narration and video sequence don't match each other. The girl talks about the lens being sharp from edge to edge for landscapes. In the video we see a photo of the flowers at open aperture with a blurred background. Yes, I realize that meticulousness of the level of Gerald Undon, for example, is the exception in today's youtube. Who will look at these charts and graphs - the consumer understands nothing about them. But this level of discrepancy between words and examples is something from religion - take our word for it, because look how cool and awesome it is - can it shoot badly? Yes it can, in a number of scenarios. This lens is a set of compromises. And at open aperture, it's not sharp enough for 32 megapixels at cropped. It can handle 24. I'm not talking about specific color reproduction of sigma, microcontrast, and sigma's specialty - the object against the blurred background looks as if it was pasted there by collage, and all because of the specific features of the transition from sharp image to blur zone.
@@superstringsbro It’s still the best choice for Canon apsc. It’s also very good in real life. Some people are too obsessed with the torture test that are test charts. No one is looking at an image at 200% I know that I’m going to take great photos with that lens
I will have to disagree with this, when this lens comes available in-store and if you're local to one of our Wilkinson Cameras stores then please do pay us a visit and try this lens for yourself, I promise you'll be surprised!
the versatility of this lens is remarkable! its a "do everything" lens!
I just wish it was a little cheaper.

Footages are super awsome . Now I have a perfect pair of lens for my R7 camera.
You'll love it!
Hi thanks for great review! I would love to get this lens but do you think is an issue with R50 which has no IBIS?
Thank you very much, your review helps me for my R7 as a compact choice over my ef L lens as a walk around. Cheers

Actually it is said to have some weather sealing
It still cannot beat Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art
obviously...that's an Art lens ^^

The Digital Picture website has a tool to compare test charts for different lenses, can help to show some of the differences
how's the video quality will it be wobbly when u do panning?

I hope Canon will bring a cheap 28-75mm F2.8 with IS for mid-level users.
Good review, shame not to specify that this lens is varifocal so you cannot zoom and keep focus in video ...
Thank you! 😊
Sorry for that, we've got so much information to cram into a short video. We'll keep this in mind for future lens reviews.
Think the ef 1.8 for the 18-35 is worth keeping over this? I could use the 50 in the zoom for weddings.

I really hope they bring out a 16-55mm F2.8 for full frame, i neeeed this!

Are you going to review sigma 10 18 on that r7 soon?
Good lens and camera amazing.
hopefully you reply - what do you think about trading in the 18-35 art lens EF for this lens

No stabilization for r10 or r50 👎
Boo hoo. Both are sub $1K

This is no help at all. When are they producing a full frame wide fast lens? Waste of a lens for crop. Sad ... Sigh
Do u own a full frame R system camera?
Not everyone uses full frame, if it's no help to you then just...don't buy it?
Except that the r7 is one of canons best selling cameras
