Some really great hints n’ tips! Thoroughly enjoyed this one. I’m also not a fan of those compilations where there’s little transition between the songs due to the contrasting styles / artists. It is nice to take a gamble on a record every now and again particularly, as you said, if it’s at a low price.
Seeing Oxygene brought a smile to my face. My dad loved that album and it was regularly on the turntable when I was growing up.
Excellent idea for a video 👌.
    Have a nice weekend.

@@RetroEdUK Oh sweet! Yeah, Oxygene is one heck of an album. I love it!
Thanks heaps for having a look and sharing the vid. Very kind of you! I'm hoping that this might help a few people in getting started with their hunting as it can feel like slim pickings out there unless you venture a little off the beaten path.

Greats tips, I was always looking at potentially getting into vinyl but, I do have enough stuff to collect already! 😂

@@pappabeargaming I hear ya! Too much stuff is a major burden. LPs take up pretty minor space but there's no point in owning something that has no use/purpose.
I love the collection I have. Almost exclusively stuff I'd only listen to in the game room but enjoyable for me.
Thanks for checking it out! 😁👍

Great vid, chalked full of fantastic collecting tips! I look for those stickers as well! 😅 Most of the time, if i haven't heard of it, i won't pick it up, unless it's got a really wild cover! 😜 Oh.. and it's got to be CHEAP! Like a dollar or less! 😅

Getting harder to find a bargain. One of my local op shops stopped stocking records this year, now they've just stopped stocking CDs. Apparently the whole chain is doing the same. Hoping others don't follow suit!

Traveling Wiburys FTW! One thing I always look for is the instruments cited in the credits. That can often give you a good idea what genre the album is when buying blind.

Great tip! The Travelling Wilburys were fun! Fun trying to pick out who did what on the album. A lot of their weird history would have been very hard to find out about before the days of the internet!

If you go to flea markets , antique shows , I found if you have a great musical knowledge you will find incredible deals on bands and genres many don't know much about .., if a popular bands stuff is up many will look it up take the time to find what high price they can ask and will sell it for ridiculous prices .., I have found great deals on early obscure prog rock , and early metal albums like Krokus , Saxon , Samson , .., 5 bucks or 10 bucks at most , however , good luck getting a Pink Floyd Dark Side or Zepp 4 for under 30 bucks .., so know your stuff , expand your horizons and you will find some true gems for cheap ..,

@@Matias-music-71 Great stuff! Well done on your scores. Yeah I've certainly found that antique stores and record shops really do try to sell their big named bands for way over what I can get them for on eBay. Would certainly be great to have a solid knowledge of lots of fringe music from the eras. I still rely heavily on the tips I have in this video. I am finding that I'm starting to recall more and more each time I'm digging.
My nearest record store is a 40min drive away so it's the op shops for me.
Thanks heaps for watching and for the great comment. 😁👍

@@TheGameroomAwakens , no worries mate , other tip is to look at local adds , once in a blue moon you may get an ad of a someone selling for a deceased relative or someone divorced , so on .., but be fair , dont be one who rips another off if they ask way too little say it is worth a bit more , how about I offer you this ..,

some record shops here in melbourne have 5 buck sections i get excellent stuff from thoser, op shops you need to go to every day so the one time they get good stuff you get it, lol. ive been collecting records since the 80s , there is a lot of OZ stuff from the 60s and 70s that is extremely hard to find but you never know what will turn up in op shops, over the years i have found a lot of rare and interesting stuff in op shops, but im pretty obsessive and spend hours going around to op shops in my local area. i found a copy of the only LP by OZ 70s band Galadriel (1971) in an op shop in Eltham, its worth a fair bit and is impossible to find. same with Universal Radio by Dragon found that in Preston for a buck. take it easy mate

@@richardfinlayson1524 Thanks a bunch for checking this out even though you'd be well and truly better than this than myself after all those years collecting. It's great finding those albums you never usually see. I've found a few old and more obscure Australian rock and punk but I've passed most on after a few listens to see if it was worth keeping. I always hope I'll find Weddings Parties Anything The Big Argue. Saw it once for $30 but didn't grab it as I was new to collecting and hoped I'd find it cheaper. Have never seen it again. Oh well.

@@richardfinlayson1524 I'd love to find them that cheap! I've scoured many a pawn shop, antique shop, op shop, etc. with no luck yet. I love going through all the stacks at the Mill Markets down in Geelong when I get the chance but haven't tried Melbourne's offerings. Last time I was down I looked at some reviews and websites and the prices were a put off. $60 for a Fleetwood Mac Rumours! Too much for me. Any good recommendations would be welcomed for sure. 😁
