- Today we are cracking into our latest project! The 2008 335i with the infamous BMW N54 engine. This engine is incredibly prone to carbon buildup due to the direct injection. Ive done this repair several times so this is how I like to walnut blast and clean the back of the intake valves on these engines! I will be sure to link any tools down below that may be helpful!
Hey @fcpeuro , it sure would be great to work together! Shoot me an email lets chat :)

Great news on smogging Kismet. That really baffled us....what is next for that pretty girl?!! You certainly endeavored to persevere, and I am thrilled. Taking good care of that forty year old lady. Keep in touch. Peace out!
Hey Denise! Yeah it was a big win. She’s about ready to take you for a ride!!! Talk soon :)
You’re awesome man. Keep making the great videos, and I truly hope this TH-cam thing works out the way you want it to! Can’t wait to see you crunch in more hours on this car for us.
Appreciate you! I hope so too
The gasket looks like Laguna Seca raceway! Lol
It kinda does!
Can’t wait to see this n54 fired up
Excited to share it with:)
Love these before and afters! So satisfying
Me too Bethany! Excited to share the next part with y’all :)
@@DayOffDIY can’t wait!
Great work on your day off!
Thanks mate!
Those valves are looking mint! The media blaster seems like a great investment for future projects as well:) Keep em coming boss!
Appreciate you dude! Yeah it’s worth having around, I doubt this will be my last N54 :)
Man this job would kill me (tree nut allergy). All this hard work and preparation will pay dividends when she's back on the road! 🔥🔥🔥 video
This is going to be another beautiful car.😁
Hope so!
I have done timing belts, timing chains, and everything else on all my cars before. But, shooting walnuts deliberately into my 328xi to clean carbon scares the crap out of me, lol.
aaaaawwwww the cute PUPPERS!!!
Nice job. I recently cleaned my intake valves on my 335i. Carb cleaner breaks down the carbon buildup. Bunched up cable ties used as a brush inside the intake port. A wet vac to suck out the spent carb cleaner and repeat until clean. A compressor and brake cleaner helps with a final cleanup to finish. Just thought I’d mention that for anyone wanting to do the job cheaper. By the way, I personally prefer your longer videos than just snapshots of jobs.
excellent job 👍🏻
So satisfying, can't wait to see her run!
editing the next video now :)
Yess the 335i was such a beautiful car. Looking forward to this
Same here!
Using the spray can intake valve cleaners every 15k miles as maintenance is a good idea once you walnut blast
Not a bad idea! Just sneak a straw into the intake charge pipe maybe?
Nice work
Thanks!
Always good to see a new video from you man, really interesting build this!
Appreciate it!!!
awesome content
Nice. Interesting to see the process. Satisfying result.
Thank you! Cheers!
Man these intakes are looking awesome. I will think about getting me one of these wallnut blasters so i can give Mine a nice cleaning too.
This e90 is getting the love it deserves.
Good job on that one.
Pumped to see the next steps :)
Take care of you bud see ya on your next Video. :)
Much love Serhan! It’s worth it if you have an N54, the media blaster itself was less than $100
Someone give this man an E36!
I will definitely get one eventually
Each time I eat wall nuts I am saving a BMW
lol! Saving n54s one walnut at a time
10:25 a racing track 😅
Spent shells...LOL
🔫
👍👍👍
So I have a 2011 335i with the N55. I asked a local shop about doing this and they said I shouldn't need it because that engine uses Valvetronic...?
What year BMW and models would you recommend for reliability for a first time bmw owner ?
E36, E46, E39 are all great starter chassis to get into. The M54 is my favorite engine, the N52 is also another reliable blw engine thats easier to work on. both are great options!
@@DayOffDIY thank you brother I may purchase one soon 👍🏼
Coast motor work Huntington Beach?
That’s my old shop
10:25 ahh I see what you did there😂
😉
i have this car! when do you recommend to do this?
Roughly every 60-100k. If you pull the spark plugs and put a boroscope camera down the cylinder you can look for carbon buildup on the back of the valves if the intake valves are open
You can also pull the manifold to look
