      Samsung's S series tablets are priced substantially higher than the Oneplus Tab so it's to be expected that they would offer more. If you compare it to the A series the Oneplus Tab is a much better option.

    I think OnePlus knocked this tablet out of the park. Finally a proper aspect ratio for an Android tablet. Apple has had it right the whole time but I even think OP's is a better aspect ratio. There is so much to like about it. I was worried that it wasn't OLED but that display is fantastic

    OnePlus Pad secret feature... USB 2.0 type-c. This is a major deal breaker for me and it's sad that the one single port ruins what you can connect + lose important features. I can maybe understand USB 2.0 speeds for phones, but not for home media devices in 2023. This would have been an instant buy for me, but now have to buy some other tablet.

    • @michael_c2
      @michael_c2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I don't really even care about the data speeds I just wanted to video output. It would be one thing if it was not being promoted as a productivity solution and was more of a glorified smart home display or something but with the keyboard and everything... It is a very loose needs screen mirroring / video output.
      Really would be better if it had a proper desktop mode. Part of that is Google's fault for not incorporating one that actually works into Android natively but hasn't stopped Motorola and Samsung for having some kind of desktop mode. LG as well when it existed.

    • @Living_Dead_Girrl
      @Living_Dead_Girrl ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michael_c2 You don't even care about data speeds on the only USB port?? But you're blaming Google for not "incorporating a native desktop mode" for Android OS... While giving credit to Motorola, Samsung, and LG for just "figuring out a way" on their own? Nah, they used Android's architecture to adapt Android's OS & it's overhauling of app rendering tools they did years ago to centralize Android for all modded OSes. It's literally Google Webview doing all the work!! You want desktop apps? Change the user-agent. Or that tablet developer can do it if they wanted to.
      Google gives dev all the tools they need to for any tablet OS to natively show apps or web-apps in desktop mode. That's simply changing the user-agent to desktop on Android System Webview. Unlike Apple, Android allows app devs to use it's free developer suite, FOSS dev library, and easily incorporate the latest coding languages & integrations so that dev can fully control aspect ratios & layouts for their app in every anticipated view. Because of most browsers, outside of Safari, i.e. Chromium-based & FireFox, have long developed past the problem of fixed screen aspect ratios limited by predefining layout for each possible user-agent, webpages are able to freely reflow and reload properly when resized/multitasking.
      So I take issue with blaming Google, which is actually blaming Android's extremely open development that gives developers absolutely every tool from beginning to end, for FREE. This resource, mind you, is regularly used by app developers on iOS in order to save money & have a fully realized vision for their app thanks to being able to build a working interactive model, before having to go thru the nightmare of coding it to iOS's closed source standards, unintuitive coding requiring far more redundant work & no autofill or code checking tools (like even old school Android Studio offers), and finite templates carried over from the days when there were just desktop apps, and iOS apps. Apple's notorious for launching entirely new and complex operating systems for new hardware that may not even last, and dumping the work on developers to just invest a huge budget into specially developing a custom app that'll only be for this one niche Apple device, with absolutely no templates or developer tools from Apple to help easily port and adapt their existing app to this completely new platform.
      Android does the opposite. Android OS enables 3rd party OSes to experiment to their heart's desire on new innovative hardware, and provides a solid foundation and tools to help devs easily adapt apps to fit, and work in various iterations without having to get each app developer to agree to design a special app just for that experimental flip phone, or whatever. This means total app usability, and device longevity - while most iPad OS apps still don't fit the newer aspect ratio changed 4 years ago to be more square for no reason, let alone TONS of the most popular apps on the market still don't have an iPad version (see: Instagram). However, because of Android's usage of web-apps and the ability to simply change the user-agent in webview, an optimized desktop Instagram layout is able to automatically work and fill the screen on an Android tablet.
      For example, Android dev tools include tutorials and an endless library of extremely project/theme specific UI templates, a highly adaptable and future-proof design & usability framework, even preselected color pallets & color guides/gradients, plus endless free open source fonts, icon packs, svgs, vector shapes, and stock images/wallpapers. Android worked overtime to centralize the OS and security & OS upgrade releases to streamline this process for all the companies building the actual phones - and they did this despite releasing their own flagship Google brand phone for the first time: The Pixel. Unlike Apple, they are the opposite of anti-competitive. So, if an app or service isn't working - that's not on Google or Android, that's on the app developer being lazy about updating their app to the new Android standards set back in 2018!! This is why there are now more Android tablets and foldables being developed now, than since the first tablets were ever developed.... And then killed by the iPad because so many companies went out of business trying to undercut pricing of their competitors, and not porting the advancements in smartphones to their tablets they essentially designed to be large media viewing screens or mini computers.

    • @Living_Dead_Girrl
      @Living_Dead_Girrl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's literally insane in this day and age any tablet would use anything less than USB-C 3.0. It's also very deceptive, IMO, to implement USB-C, just to use obsolete 2.0 speeds. That's no faster than an ancient micro-USB input!! Even majority of USB-A inputs are faster than 2.0. I understand not doing thunderbolt, or whatever you wanna call a non-trademarked version of UBS 3.1 or 3.2, but removing 3.0 which is already used in all of OnePlus's mid-range to "flagship" phones, is seriously going out of their way to inconvenience users. It's like the lightning charger iPads... The battery always drains faster than lightening chargers can charge. Removes the portability and on-the-go sale point, that separates a tablet from a laptop. It forces users to worry about battery packs and finding an outlet to charge their tablet. OnePlus has lost its way... I mean it's just OPPO now. Battery draining Color OS. All I've ever wanted was a stock Android tablet on an AMOLED screen with, ideally, 2 USB-C 3.1 ports (and AUX input & SD card slot would be AMAZING too). Android OS is strong enough on its own to do all this multitasking, OP is doing way too much, and forcing users to go to the iOS settings menu for everything instead of quick settings or automation... Is insane. Adding in that lil "sidebar" option is laughable. Just use Jina Drawer, or one of the dozen or so Android drawer apps, that have incredibly powerful and highly customizable features.
      There's a lot about the OP Pad that's problematic... Including OP's subpar hardware in recent years, and years long history of releasing updates that break devices when a newer one gets released every single 6 months. They're no longer innovative with their hardware or designs. They're just conforming now, and borderline ripping off iOS. I desperately want an Android tablet... Still waiting. Stuck on the sluggish extremely limited iPad Pro until then. So many limitations being on Android phone and iPad.

    Good review. Nice device for SINGLE USERS only. It's HOPELESS for families. Seriously don't buy it, I did and took delivery today and quickly discovered one MASSIVE failing. There's no option to switch users from the lock screen, so it's hopeless as a family device. Oneplus won't even recognise it's an issue. Their solution is that the last user must first login, the switch to the next user because they think that's more secure.... So it's more secure that everyone must share their passwords around to be able to change users. Rigggght. Take a look at your competitors and get back to selling phones. Time to return the device and buy a Pixel Tablet.
