Josh. Tbh I love everything you do in your vlogs they are always informative and interesting. I do like it when you make stuff and when you tinker with the tractors and cars. 👍🏻
I like it all. Makes what I am trying to do on my 3 acres look insignificant. I have tried many of the things you are doing for myself. Some with success, some not so much. Keep it up.
I noticed Wranglerstar was the most popular when he was building stuff and just talking about what he finds meaningful in life. We sort of know what you are doing, but not so much about who you are, where you came from and why you want to build a farm. Camarata is doing stuff, breaking something and then fixing it. It's more of a simpler formula. Either of those is OK, and so is the occasional product shilling. The only channels that haven't worked out are the ones where they stop being humble, or they get prissy with their audience (which is probably really hard to stomach when someone is telling you which end of a cow is the front or whatever...) 😹

Hey Josh! Dad was a Master Plumber, and all three of his boys got to be Assistants as soon as we were big enough to lug a tool box or use a shovel. It seems like every job started out with digging an exceedingly fine hole and/or ditch, doing the job, then filling the ditch or hole back in! Nice to see that some things haven't changed!
I hope you make very detailed maps for all the pipes and junctions you just installed. Archive it good for your future generations. Having to dig up and trace unmarked water lines at work, proving to be miserable. Glad to see you got it moving smoothly!
You can buy some inexpensive tape that you bury with your pipe that is easily found with an inexpensive metal detector. The tape is also a bright color in the event you dig close to your water line you’ll hopefully see it. I know hindsight is easy but I’m new to your channel I’m enjoying it so far.

Not living there I appreciate your off grid ideas. Solar and water like this would allow us to camp. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for the video. I install water tanks for a living, and the tank that you have looks to be an above ground tank, which means it is *not* rated to be buried at all, or there is a good chance it will collapse. The only safe way to install a tank and protect it from freezing is to use an underground cistern. I've seen far too many people try to do just this only to have their tank collapse in a few months. You'll notice that underground tanks have support ribbing to keep them structurally sound after burial. This tank does not have support ribs. Underground tanks cannot be used above ground, and above ground tanks cannot be used underground

Hey Josh have you thought of having a T handle bar made that is long enough to fit down into your hand hole and can set onto the stim of the valve? That way you can just turn the T handle to open and close the ball valve. We have these at work to open and close valves in our sump pits.

Josh, have you thought about building a shed over the water tank with some of your milled lumber & insulating the hell out of it ? You could also build a hell of a rock wall using all the rocks you keep digging up. Have a great day 😊.
Have you watched Anchor Brand Ranch? He has waterers everywhere. The pipe runs into a box with float valve. When the box gets full (meaning the water trough is full) the float valve turns the water off. This way you don't have to do it by hand.
you are just seeing the beginings of a self sufficient water tank setup..tune in next week and I'll show you my water trough installs for the cows...we're gonna do 2 different water tank setups...you'll love it...and all this will be totally automated with float valves and such
yep....that's a solution...but not a very long lasting solution my brotha, cow steps on a bucket lid in the pasture and falls through...probably have to stick with something a little tougher
If you ever do any more in ground applications with water valve try a curb stop valve they work way better and you don't have to bend a ball valve handle. But whatever works for you just here to help.
can't use a curb stop for a water tank like this..it will drain the tank my friend...curb stop valve is $85 v/s $26 ball valve. The frost free mirafount tanks have a curb stop valve ...the ball valves will only be used for the tire water tanks
They make them without drain backs so they won't drain your tank. I do agree with the price difference they are a lot more expensive and your ball valve will be just fine. Anyway keep up the good work I love watching your videos!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer If you turn the ball valve on its side so the lever is in a vertical orientation, and then adust the lever's mounting angle so it's at a 45 degree angle on its mounting bolt (===./.===) instead of a 90 degree one, then a straight rod down the hole and loosely bolted to the end of the lever will let you operate the valve. That way you won't need a special tool, you can just reach in and pull the rod up or down. Same idea as a gearstick coupled to the gearbox with a rod.
Josh. I have to say this and I’m sorry. I nearly wet myself laughing when the pipe burst. One of the funniest things I’ve seen for a long, long time. Your getting there though mate. I absolutely loved this Vlog. Wooo getting wet times. 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
@Matta he has to keep all the water lines, and especially the valves, below the frost line. The ground freezes and so would the lines and valves if closer to the surface. Remember Josh is building this as close to maintenance free as possible.
Josh, is there a small vent hole in the tank? As you fill the tank, air in the tank needs to escape, so as not to build too much pressure, allowing water to fill. You may need an air valve to to off and on, when the solar pump turns off and on.
I see your bolling ball idea and it looks like it could work but I also noticed your drain pipe has a cap on it. Unless you take the cap off and leave it off the tank will not drain. That presents a problem of having a pipe with no cap that a calf can step into and brake a leg.
I Live in northern CAL I have the same tank on my land for over 20 years now - ( it’s buried) it is safe to open the the small lid and let the rain fill the tank ? I’m checked the level it’s drop about 2 feet in 20 years ) we built this house ~
Thanks for the awesome videos! Your video on how to hang a farm gate was super helpful. What is the type / size water line you are using? I like the idea of the flexible hose. I’m getting ready to start my water line project on the my 3 acres property my wife and I just purchased. Keep up the great work!
bhahhaha....thanks! That was pretty funny...and I was lucky I didn't hurt myself! Welcome to the channel! I've got a complete water system video coming out soon!
Im planning on using water storage tank, live in alaska . Thinking id build a little house well insulated for my tank also spray outside of tank with insulation.
I would have "Over-Engineered" this hole py lining the bottom and sides with Lanscape Fabric, placed about 4" of Pea Gravel, Placed the Tank (made Connections), then Backfill around the Tank with more Pea Gravel (leaving some excess Landscape fabric to cover the edges. Then add some River Rock on top of that to soil level...
the entire reason for the screenings is that rock won't work buddy....need something very gentle that's like sand...geotextile could have been used here...but wasn't neccesary...I've got some folks commenting that I should have poured it in concrete....shew...expensive...however...no rock! That's the entire reason for the screenings...pea gravel would have made this a giant french drain...in other words the whole pit would be full of water all the time
yep...take a minute and go back to some of my recent water system vids...it's pretty darn simple...put it in the hold my brotha...make connections like I'm showing ya here...but I'm no "pro plumber" but I take the advice of the pros
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Thank you! That pipe is called plex right? Here in Texas the soil moves so much that PVC will break in the summers due to the ground drying up and moving. I heard the plex pipe will move some and wont be as prone to breaking.
Any advise , I don’t have a well and I need to run water into the house gravity won’t generate enough pressure and suggestions I have a cistern that looks like yours , thanks for all your videos , inspirational !!!
Home Depot just went up almost $800.00 in price over the past week. They had 2000 gallon tanks for $1999.00 for a couple years , as of yesterday I noticed they now want $2799.00 for the same tank.

That’s awesome enjoy your channel do a lot of work pretty fine course the good work to
Thanks for the awesome videos! Your video on how to hang a farm gate was super helpful. What is the type / size water line you are using? I like the idea of the flexible hose. I’m getting ready to start my water line project on the my 3 acres property my wife and I just purchased. Keep up the great work!
1 1/4 inch 160 PSI poly pipe...could have gone as small as 3/4 but I wanted the volume in case we ever decide to irrigate
I had to subscribe as soon as your hat blew off from the hose 😂😂😂 great video!
bhahhaha....thanks! That was pretty funny...and I was lucky I didn't hurt myself! Welcome to the channel! I've got a complete water system video coming out soon!
11:52, all you need to know
Is there a follow up video on this and how did it work ? Did you fill all the way to ground level with sand or fill with dirt ?
Im planning on using water storage tank, live in alaska . Thinking id build a little house well insulated for my tank also spray outside of tank with insulation.
Lol😂 now that’s good pressure
I enjoy video, because they educated me much appreciate friend 💓
Just what you need, something to wake you up with a nice organic shower 🤣.
Josh , I thought I was going to wet myself when that hose blow your hat off ! LOL 😂🤠
That's the entire reason for the screenings...pea gravel would have made this a giant french drain...in other words the whole pit would be full of water all the time
that thumb's really handy.
Nice work
Thanks
The black pipe you're using, do you have videos on how to use and install that?
yep...take a minute and go back to some of my recent water system vids...it's pretty darn simple...put it in the hold my brotha...make connections like I'm showing ya here...but I'm no "pro plumber" but I take the advice of the pros
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Thank you! That pipe is called plex right? Here in Texas the soil moves so much that PVC will break in the summers due to the ground drying up and moving. I heard the plex pipe will move some and wont be as prone to breaking.
🙋🏼♂️. Rock n roll 🚧
wow,lots of air
nice very good , awesome work man , one question how do you get the water into your house from the tank ?
I have a different well for my home..this is for livestock
Any advise , I don’t have a well and I need to run water into the house gravity won’t generate enough pressure and suggestions I have a cistern that looks like yours , thanks for all your videos , inspirational !!!
That seams like a reasonably price for 1500 gallons.
Home Depot just went up almost $800.00 in price over the past week. They had 2000 gallon tanks for $1999.00 for a couple years , as of yesterday I noticed they now want $2799.00 for the same tank.
