I became a little bored with campervanners and their cooking over the years but you two have a certain panache and warmth of character that makes it all the more enjoyable along with your narration and camera work. I never wanted to expose my life on camera as a full timer in my Citroen Berlingo but appreciate those that do, especially with such quality as yours. Keep up the good work and being ambassadors for Van life UK ! PS. I'm sure you missed a small can on your litter pick in that abandoned boat in that car park you stayed in last video!!
Another great video. Really brought back memories of me and my family's trip to Porthor in June though, as it was half term week, the beach and cafe were a heck of a lot busier than shown here! We found that the sand squeaked rather than whistled and we found you had to almost skid along it to make it 'whistle' audibly. Something the kids were only too happy to do. Repeatedly. :)
Thanks for watching. Yes we were there during term time so it was fairly quiet. We obviously didn’t have the right technique to make the sand whistle/squeak 😄
Love your happy vlogs, Thankyou,my dream is a camper van your a lovely genuine couple 💗✨ X my family live in North Wales, Snowdonia, and I also visit family on Angelsey ,south stack lighthouse on Angelsey is one of my favourite visits ,💗✨I'm off to visit them very soon x can't wait x you've brought so many happy memories Back xx
Lynn on Hubby's phone 😏, We used to flush our water tanks ( fresh & waste ), out with baby's sterilizing fluid , the one they use for bottles and we never had it smelling or slimy 😊👍, Take Care xx
We totally agree with you Ken about the driving. We live down a single track road with some very tricky bends. At this time of year, when the hedges are high and wide, it's extremely tricky. You wouldn't believe though, the number of drivers who just Co tinue to drive blind at high speed. You'd think the numerous skid marks on the road, would highlight the danger areas, but no!
That was common sense to pull over to the left on a bend like that Ken, I can think of many places where there are laybys and pull ins that allow a better view forward. One day I'd like to meet the "Life is too short" Crew too I've never seen a laundrette next to a petrol station, what a great idea:) I like the lack of people and traffic on the Llyn peninsula, maybe I'll have to visit. Sandy
Thanks Sandy. Look forward to meeting up one day when our paths cross. Those Revolution launderettes are great for campervanners. They have them all over Europe. The Llyn Peninsula would be great to explore on "Chug" 😀

Hello, New subscriber here. Really enjoy your channel. Have been binge watching over the last couple of days. Would love to do what you both do. Thank you for visiting whistling sands. It does whistle ( well it did in 1978. LOL.). More like a squeak really on bare feet. My dad lost his wedding ring on that beach in 1978. Wonder if it's still there.
Sorry the Guinness caramels weren’t up to much. Poor Carol looked like she was really struggling 🤣. Enjoyed the very blustery vlog. Van looked very cosy. Trying to work out if Ken was more ecstatic about the fruit loaf or the hot dogs. ( audible foodometer was a close call) don’t let anyone put you off your chilli sauce! Most impressed at carol’s bed linen changing skills in such a small space. We have to make ours indoors before we go away. Guess we will just be very smelly on a long trip 😬 E 🧙♂️
Carol doesn’t like toffees at the best of times and those were particularly chewy. Surprising what you can do in a small space when you put your mind to it 😀
Hi Ken and Carol, must have just missed you by a day. We went to Anglesey yesterday evening and stayed over, south stack, was quite busy till nine o'clock so we decided to find another venue. Thursday Drove down to Black rock sands, through criccieth then on some of the narrowest roads I have ever been on, eventually found the a487 and back to Caernarfon. It rained consistently till four thirty, but I have always been lucky like that! You really do find the most out of the ways places. I think I need more tuition! Look forward to the next. Andy.
Waste tanks of big camper vans: Its all in the dark and you can empty it often enough. Darkness = less bakteria growth. So it stays quite "clean". Also the fresh water tank: You can put in some silver stuff to keep it bacteria free but also keeping it dark helps a lot. Never had problems and you boil the water anyway not drinking it from the tub.
Another great video guys. North Wales looks beautiful. Sorry I haven't commented in ages but I've still been watching although I've been watching on my smart TV and I can't leave a comment or like. If anyone out there knows how to like whilst watching on a smart TV let me know please. 😊👍
That’s fine Spiral, we appreciate you watching. On a smart TV you can cursor down to a menu where there are three dots on the left hand side. Click the dots and you will see the like symbol. You still can’t leave a comment though.
Another great vlogI hindsight would it not have been better to reverse back up the hill and drive forward into the parking space ? Well done for the litter pick, it helps us all. You are right about ‘grey’ tanks, as an ex submarine engineer it was always preferable to clean the ‘black’ tank rather than the ‘grey’ tank. I enjoy your driving insights, please keep them up. Regards AJ
I remember so many of the place names from a holiday in North Wales many years ago. I can recall looking at Bardsey Island from that headland and it was incredibly windy then too!
the best way to keep your washing up grease free, is to clean the plates etc with paper towels, which we do before washing up, easier to throw away the paper towels in the bin.😉Then you wash.
Walked to Whistling Sands from Porth Iago a little further up the coast. Used to camp above a lovely sandy bay there. Scuba dived south of an island called the Meth of shore and found ivory tusks.
Hi . With reference to dirty dishes we use kitchen towel to remove main residue followed by wet wipes to remove grease prior to washing up . This means we use very little water in a bowl which is hardly dirty afterwards . Happy Travels . Vince
Hi Ken Charlie ,very interesting blog wind was a little strong looks like Charlie enjoys the wind ,how long have you both been touring in your little camper van,we are thinking of doing Wales we done west coast and isle of sky last June so pretty,we have to high a motorhome and automatic as only one leg ,lost it in a accident at work so if you find it let me know lol ,loved this blog as always till next time take care keep safe,John 👀🇬🇧🇬🇧🥂🌹👏👏🥇🥇
Watchya Ken x Carol lovely vlog again 👊👍 I think the litterbugs image of our community is way over hyped by media and the anti RV brigade and unfair to some extent ? Yes it is vehicles trashing our countryside ! but its not all down to Campervaners/Rv’ers ! As you know Ken all the Campervaners/RV folk and community we know do litter picks as a norm ? I wonder how may Tonnes of other folks trash we responsible camper vanners pick up a year !! OMG Guinness Choc I need that in my life LOL 😂 x You know I love the Black Nectar 😜 ATB Ken and hugs to Mrs Whiplash and your Giddy Aunt 😂 😘👊👍🚐 x
Hi Stephen. Yes, tonnes of other people’s rubbish must have been collected by now. I don’t think there was enough Guinness in those toffees for your liking 😁 Mrs Whiplash sends her regards, hope you are well. Looking forward to your next adventure 👍😀🚐❤️
So easy to forget how small this van is considering all the equipment you have in it, swivel seat and pop top makes it look a lot more spacious. I walked past 3 NV200's today and they reminded me of the real size of the van. Very well designed 👽👍 Why did it take you over 10 mins to say "Yummy" ? Normally just takes a couple of mins lol 😜
We forget how small the van is sometimes until we see it in the videos from the outside! The yummies are all for real and last as long as is warranted in relation to the taste 😁😁😁
Ken, when we were travelling full time here in Oz I too picked up the rubbish left by other inconsiderate people, I used a cheap picker upper thing, so no longer had to bend or wear gloves to collect. Any driving advice is good advice but I get saddened here in Oz with brand new young drivers who still do not know how to correctly navigate a traffic island ! even though they have had compulsory driver training. We have far too many young deaths from traffic accidents involving just the one vehicle and speed too.
It is sad to see how reckless some people are in their driving these days. Well done picking up the litter, if only everyone would just take it home with them and keep everywhere tidy. We can only hope for better things in the future ☺️
I have been dog sitting for the last few days so morning and evening walks with involuntary litter picking, beer bottles /cans, crisp packets, fish and chip boxes ,pizza boxes etc. Would the reintroduction of capital punishment help ? 😀
nope they mostly get away with it... always strikes me how un-aware folks are about even the esthetic point: It does not hurt their eyes or heart to see litter everywhere in nature. Its an ugly sight to see cigaret boxes, plastic bags and bottles etc. all over the landscape. It certainly hurts MY senses and makes me angry. its about education - messy and indifferent people never learned better, sadly. Thanks for your picking up work - you give a good example and plant some awareness of how nice Nature looks when clean and pure. AND tells me I am not crazy because I do the same if its of any use (some places are way too dirty to even start).
Hi Carol and Ken, Your vlogs are very enjoyable, we have always watched them and find them very relaxing. Beautiful scenery, great photography and interesting facts. Your driving tips seem to be very well received, I've been reading through your comments. I certainly find the tips good. I can see this being a regular thing for you to do (I hope). My biggest bugbear is tailgaters, I get so annoyed at them. I usually pull in and let them overtake at the earliest opportunity, I'd rather have them in front of me than behind. Is there a correct thing to do when you're being tailgated? Keep making these wonderful vlogs, it's lovely following you around the country, so many interesting, beautiful places and of course seeing you both enjoy your travels. Ian and Angie.
Hi Ian. Tailgating is very common these days and one of the biggest causes of accidents after speed. They tailgate because you are not going fast enough. My initial tactic is to maintain my chosen speed until a suitable place for them to overtake then I slow down a bit so its very easy to pass. If they are an idiot then pulling over is the only thing to do. Once a tailgater has passed be on the lookout for an accident up ahead as they tend to make poor decisions. 👍. As you clearly know, never speed up for a tailgater.
Loving the vlogs guys. Just out of interest, how long does it take to wash and dry your washing at one of those outdoor launderettes. I don't know why i ask but always wonder when i see you use one😆. Lovely pictures at the end bunny👍
Beautiful .....I'am considering to convert my Skoda Yeti...in a minimal sleeping van...without comfort...just one person.....Shitting ..(we shall see) ...and washing ( even when 10 l in the van) ...exploring...the countryside...into Belgium...
We don't actually have a waste water tank but use a container either in the sink or outside under the waste flow pipe to collect the waste water in small amounts. Your tip would be good for motorhomes and caravans with waste water tanks 👍🙂

Great video as normal guys. lovely to see the stills at the end.a great set of pictures which all add to the memory of the trip.enjoy it while you can we are enjoying watching you
Thanks Dave. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🙂
I’m very grateful for your driving tips. The 2 times I was in Ireland I searched long on TH-cam to find advice while driving on roads that twisted and turned and were no bigger than a paper clip! Haha. Carol, your photos were beautiful. You’ve an eye for beauty and detail. Good to see you wash your bedding!!! I never doubted you didn’t! Take care. Mary
Thank you Mary. Glad you enjoyed the photos 👍🙂
We love watching your video's. They are excellent. Haven't got through all of them yet but what we have seen has been superb.
Sorry we haven't commented before but we've certainly given the thumbs up to all the one's we have watched. 👍
Yourself and Carol are such lovely people and on one video it upset us to see you were criticised for your pronunciation of Betws y Coed !! Well I'm Welsh and I thought the majority of your pronunciations were excellent . You and Carol have always been so positive about your experiences in Wales and never have a bad word to say, so a big thank you for that.
Please continue with your driving tips it is much appreciated and you have our full respect for the job you used to do as a Police Officer. We can only imagine what horrors you would have seen as a traffic officer and putting your life on the line helping to keep us all safe. 👍👍😊
Thank you 🙏
Ps loving your Sussex and South of England video's 👍👍
Thanks for your lovely comment Andy and all those thumbs up 🙂 I wasn't actually a traffic officer but did do the Police advanced driving course. Glad you are enjoying our videos. Best wishes to you and your family 😀👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Thank you.
Sorry I made that assumption but I'm sure the Police advanced driving course was pretty hard. We really appreciate your driving tips and once again thank you for the work you done as a Police Officer . We are so shocked to see what our Police Officer's have to put up with on a daily basis and the risks involved. ☹
Best Wishes to you both
Your comments are getting braver Ken, I am howlig with laughter about the glove comment
😁😁😁
I became a little bored with campervanners and their cooking over the years but you two have a certain panache and warmth of character that makes it all the more enjoyable along with your narration and camera work. I never wanted to expose my life on camera as a full timer in my Citroen Berlingo but appreciate those that do, especially with such quality as yours. Keep up the good work and being ambassadors for Van life UK ! PS. I'm sure you missed a small can on your litter pick in that abandoned boat in that car park you stayed in last video!!
Thanks for watching Julian. Hope life is good in your Berlingo. Take care 👍🙂
As the saying goes, ‘pack it in, pack it out’ ~ Such gorgeous scenery ~ your videos bring us to a happy place - Best to you both!
Thank you so much Heather 👍🙂
Porthor looks amazing !
I could watch those waves all day too.
Must put this on our bucket list 🌊
Well worth a visit Emma 👍🙂
Love your happy vlogs, Thankyou,my dream is a camper van your a lovely genuine couple 💗✨ X my family live in North Wales, Snowdonia, and I also visit family on Angelsey ,south stack lighthouse on Angelsey is one of my favourite visits ,💗✨I'm off to visit them very soon x can't wait x you've brought so many happy memories Back xx
Glad you enjoyed it and we could bring back some happy memories 🙂
Another lovely video. So enjoying your north Wales trip.
Thanks Sally, glad you enjoyed it 🙂👍
Lynn on Hubby's phone 😏, We used to flush our water tanks ( fresh & waste ), out with baby's sterilizing fluid , the one they use for bottles and we never had it smelling or slimy 😊👍, Take Care xx
Some people will never learn until they have an accident and then it may be too late!
I enjoy your driving tips and each video gives a great insight to the local area. I am so tempted to visit to see these wonderful views.
Thanks Denise. We really enjoyed the area and would recommend anyone to visit 👍🙂
That was common sense to pull over to the left on a bend like that Ken, I can think of many places where there are laybys and pull ins that allow a better view forward.
One day I'd like to meet the "Life is too short" Crew too
I've never seen a laundrette next to a petrol station, what a great idea:)
I like the lack of people and traffic on the Llyn peninsula, maybe I'll have to visit.
Sandy
Thanks Sandy. Look forward to meeting up one day when our paths cross. Those Revolution launderettes are great for campervanners. They have them all over Europe. The Llyn Peninsula would be great to explore on "Chug" 😀
Another great watch …. Jane always liked the practical elements so admire your washing routine. That toffee I could see carol was struggling with lol and laughed out loud at the miss whiplash comment. Driving Wonk you have joined the club now ….
Thanks Stew. Glad you enjoyed it. Proud to be a member of the Parking on the Wonk club 😀
Nothing quite like being cosied up in the van when it’s wild outside. Love the scenery and photos but God, I’m starving now! 😋
Sorry about all the food ☺️ We always have to go on a diet after a trip in the little red camper 😁
@@LifeistooshortCK Please don't apologise! It's nice to see people enjoying their food ... and I can enjoy it through you but without the calories 😂
Hi Carol and Ken Very enjoyable video as always particularly liked the post card pics at the end. People that do not appreciate motoring advice are very shallow minded. Reminds me of comments made when issuing tickets for no seat belts being used! Regards Crawford
I enjoy your driving tips Ken, it's always useful to get them especially from you with your experience x
Thanks Heather 🙂
I am enjoying your driving advice so when I am able to cross the pond and visit your part of the world, I will have a better idea as to how to drive.
Glad you are enjoying the videos. Hope you get to visit the UK soon 🙂👍
Ahoy Pirates! Lovely vlog again! Thanks for the funny moments also! XD Made my morning, as always! .) The sea is back, aye! Filled my heart with enormous joy, thank you, dear folks! :) Carol's photos I love to the moon and back! Hats off. Ken, you can solve anything that comes up, true handyman, aye! .) Keep going and sharing, with you in heart and soul! Captain of the good old Blackthorne
Glad you enjoyed it Kata especially the wild sea. Take care Captain 👍😀❤️
We love watching your vlogs, really entertaining and informative. We are looking forward to starting our full-time van travel in our VW Transporter Campervan soon. We find your tips and advice to be really helpful so please ignore the haters, arm chair experts that they are! Keep up the great work! Julio & Jenny - Sydney Australia.
Thank you so much Julio and Jenny. Have fun on your travels. Stay safe 👍😀
Thanks for subscribing Sue. Good to know the sand does actually whistle. Sorry we didn't find your Dad's ring.
Great vlog Ken and Carol. Dont know why people take offence at good advice its free. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🙂
Sorry the Guinness caramels weren’t up to much.
Andy.
Sounds like you had a great trip Andy despite the rain. The scenery around that area is lovely and well worth a few narrow roads for the best views 😁
Keep the advice coming Ken. If someone doesn’t want to listen, no one is forcing them to.
Thanks Gary 🙂
Great vid and advice is always good like sounding your horn on a blind bend keep up the great vids and advice all the best donny
Thanks Donny 👍
Thank you - this area seems timeless - hasn't changed too much in forty years!
Still wild and windy that’s for sure 👍🙂
Another great video guys. North Wales looks beautiful. Sorry I haven't commented in ages but I've still been watching although I've been watching on my smart TV and I can't leave a comment or like. If anyone out there knows how to like whilst watching on a smart TV let me know please. 😊👍
That’s fine Spiral, we appreciate you watching. On a smart TV you can cursor down to a menu where there are three dots on the left hand side. Click the dots and you will see the like symbol. You still can’t leave a comment though.
@@LifeistooshortCK oh thanks that's good to know. 👍
Lovely photos x
Thanks so much Mandy 😊
Nice photos Carol 👍🏻
Thank you Gillian 🙏
Another great vlogI hindsight would it not have been better to reverse back up the hill and drive forward into the parking space ? Well done for the litter pick, it helps us all. You are right about ‘grey’ tanks, as an ex submarine engineer it was always preferable to clean the ‘black’ tank rather than the ‘grey’ tank. I enjoy your driving insights, please keep them up. Regards AJ
On watching it back I thought the same certainly would have been easier. 👍
What a food fest tonight!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I can feel a diet coming on 😁
I remember so many of the place names from a holiday in North Wales many years ago. I can recall looking at Bardsey Island from that headland and it was incredibly windy then too!
Glad to bring back some good memories for you Steve ☺️
I know exactly where that is...we pick sloes there every october.then go to the harbour🌻
We loved it there 🥰
the best way to keep your washing up grease free, is to clean the plates etc with paper towels, which we do before washing up, easier to throw away the paper towels in the bin.😉Then you wash.
That’s a great tip, thanks 🙂👍
Wow
Love it
❤💕❤💕❤💕❤❤💕
Thank you 🙏
Walked to Whistling Sands from Porth Iago a little further up the coast. Used to camp above a lovely sandy bay there. Scuba dived south of an island called the Meth of shore and found ivory tusks.
Wow that was quite a find ❤️
Miss whiplash gloves, I'm in for a treat..... Kenneth, what do you mean??????
😁😁😁
I enjoyed the day out, being by the sea , is relaxing , I like where we went, food 😋 i enjoy the company
it was a very relaxing day.
stay safe .
Glad you enjoyed it Moira 😀👍
Guinness is Guinness and chocolate is chocolate. We'll leave it at that! :-)
Well said 👍🙂
Hi . With reference to dirty dishes we use kitchen towel to remove main residue followed by wet wipes to remove grease prior to washing up . This means we use very little water in a bowl which is hardly dirty afterwards . Happy Travels . Vince
Good tips. Thanks Vince 👍🙂
Sorry about the leg. We will keep an eye out 😁👍. Campervanning since Oct 2019
Looking forward to the “isle of man “ trip……when do you get here..? I’ll meet and say hi if possible, will definitely keep an eye out for you 👍🇮🇲💪
Thanks Andy. Not long now 😁
@@LifeistooshortCK Liz my missus , has sent you an email with plenty of info on our wonderful island , hope it helps 👍🇮🇲
You have obviously been kept very busy. Fines for dropping litter are not cutting it as they are not enforced.
nope they mostly get away with it... always strikes me how un-aware folks are about even the esthetic point: It does not hurt their eyes or heart to see litter everywhere in nature.
AND tells me I am not crazy because I do the same if its of any use (some places are way too dirty to even start).
sorry for ranting.
@@MollyGrue1 As has been said many times, "Can't educate stupid "
Your a star for picking up after other people, it’s a shame that the people who litter don’t care, and then the wrong people get the blame.
Thanks Anthony☺️
Hi Carol and Ken,
Your vlogs are very enjoyable, we have always watched them and find them very relaxing.
Might i ask how old you both were when you retired?😊 enjoy the drone footage. Be safe out there.
@@nelsonmiller-oe7co 48 and 47.
Never mind the sand that didn't whistle, after that dainty child's serve of chips, you would have both been whistlin' Dixie! 🤭
Loving the vlogs guys. Just out of interest, how long does it take to wash and dry your washing at one of those outdoor launderettes. I don't know why i ask but always wonder when i see you use one😆. Lovely pictures at the end bunny👍
Thank you so much. The washing takes about 45 mins and then we do a 30 min dry cycle 🙂
Beautiful .....I'am considering to convert my Skoda Yeti...in a minimal sleeping van...without comfort...just one person.....Shitting ..(we shall see) ...and washing ( even when 10 l in the van) ...exploring...the countryside...into Belgium...
Sounds like a great plan and a great way to get around exploring without the expense of hotels and campsites 👍🙂
Try a small splash of blue loo in you waste water tank!
We don't actually have a waste water tank but use a container either in the sink or outside under the waste flow pipe to collect the waste water in small amounts. Your tip would be good for motorhomes and caravans with waste water tanks 👍🙂
Oh I wish we had those washers and drying places here. How long does it take to do a full wash and dry?
From memory the wash was about 40-45 mins and the dry about 15-20 mins 🙂
