Cal Newport explains a #CoreIdea about Deep Work. Cal explains the background of his book, "Deep Work".
Cal explains three things in the video.
    What is Deep Work?
    Why is Deep Work important?
How can someone do Deep Work better.
Deep Work is an activity and it's focusing without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. Deep Work matters because it's the effort that move the needle in a given project. There is a difference between Deep and Shallow work.
Measuring Deep Work is critical to get better at it. Scheduling Deep Work is also very important.

The "work" I do used to be deep. Then the corporate greed crept in and they started adding more tasks in order to have less people doing the tasks. In healthcare it's become the norm. and that is why there are so many medical mistakes, small and large.

I needed to hear that. Oddly enough, I feel like I struggle with shallow work sometimes too, because I now know that my phone has to be in another room, etc. when I do deep work, but, when I’m doing shallow work I tend to let myself check my email several times and so on.
So I’m going to play with the idea of making my shallow work not so shallow!
And I’m going to get the book, obviously.

Cal knows the real deal, he creates value and one can identify that, so he gives trustworthy tools. I also bet Cal leaves with no remorse for the content he creates, in contrast to all the crap-"creators" whose only motivation is to persuade you to drip your money. This guy is a gem! and he also sets EXAMPLE.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:16 "Deep *Work," yazarı Cal Newport, derin çalışmanın özünü anlatıyor.
01:38 Deep *work, dikkat dağıtmadan belli bir zihinsel görevle yoğunlaşmak demektir.
04:09 Deep *work, moral bir hiyerarşi değildir.

this was a long video to say, "if you want to actually be productive or learn, schedule time for the task that is completely distraction free. completely. it's largely difficult tasks that are skill or thought based work that require this. and it helps to be mindful of how much time am i spending on deep work and how much time i'm spending on shallow work, which is also needed as well (such as routine emails, taking care of invoices, and other logistical tasks)."

    Is this considered Deep Work?
    Hello,
I’ve recently accepted my first salesman job and it is by far the hardest thing that I have ever done in my entire life. I’m really struggling with understanding the process completely and producing better results because of it. Normally when a challenge presents itself at work I can conquer it but with this salesman job I can’t. Everyday when I’m at work I try extremely hard to produce flawless results, and when I don’t I try even harder to produce those results. When that doesn’t work I try even harder than that, finally when all of my strength is gone and nothing works I still try even harder and I finally get that flawless result that I worked for. I’ve applied this tactic to all of my past jobs that came with difficult task and it had always worked. Now with this new salesman job I’ve done that I’ve applied this same tactic but it’s not working at all.

7:17 But in my experience there's no comparison between the focus on a physical sport than on a mental task. With physical - as long as is demanding and meaningful (if you hate your guts and can't stop thinking you want to shoot yourself is gonna be hard to concentrate) - the adrenaline, sweat, pain and all the body coodination keeps you focused much easily, and if It's a at the gym the tasks are really intuitive.
But with mental work, a lot of it is on your imagination and when you have the same kind of pressure on you body becomes easy to meander (have you experimented thinking about the ig feed or a talk wth a 600 pounds barbell in your back or while recovering this almost death experince and getting ready to go again? Yeah, quite hard right? But maybe talks, interruptions and people stealing your machines and breaking your plans might cause this, than you have to try to avoid or roll with punches).

Incredible work! This is amazing content. I came across something similar, and it was breathtaking. "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide" by Matthew Cove
