    We are getting closer and closer to real meat textures and tastes and its unbelievable. I recently saw a Tiktoker named FutureLettuce post a video using leftover seitan starch water to make bacon. This is a common method and I actually have a few videos on the subject.. but then he flipped.. whole new method that was awesome! I wanted to take it to another level and give you a thick cut pork belly that had a lot of the same textures and tastes as REAL braised pork belly!

It helps, to see whether I'd actually like to make this myself! Screw the algorithm, making you take away an essential part of your videos!!

To this day (and I am coming up being vegan for 8 years) I start to drool when I smell bacon and sausages being cooked. So this channel is my heaven!!!! I can still be a fully fledged vegan and enjoy my fake burgers, fake pork belly and so on 😂 but I totally understand how someone who did not grow up with meat would not find his stuff appetizing!

    I don’t wanna sound rude, but I’m not sure if this is healthy for vegans or vegetarians. It’s like being always hungry for meat? I mean always looking for meat flavor and texture of something in theory you don’t like to eat.... it quite doesn’t make sense to me... if i don’t like onions, I’m not going like crazy trying to get the perfect onion flavor and texture without actual onions.... make sense?

    • @sarahjo9975
      @sarahjo9975 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Using the onion idea, think of it this way (several examples, since there are many reasons why people like these recipes): What if you *loved* the taste of onions, but you ended up allergic to them? Or if onions were super expensive and you just wanted a good and affordable alternative? Or if you found out all the onions in the world were only sold by a company that only used it's profits to hurt people and you didn't want to support them doing that? Or you didn't eat onions for religious reasons (which, fun fact, I recently learned is actually a thing with Jains and some Hindus). All these types of people would love a good onion substitute. It's kinda the same deal with this recipe and meat. Lots of reasons, so we're glad an alternative exists. And if you *don't* want it for your own reasons, that's okay, too!

That affects the TH-cam algorithm and the video doesn't get suggested. Anytime I remove the taste test and just do a simple taste test in the beginning, like I did here, then the audience retention is closer to 60% or higher at the very end of the video meaning a lot more people watched the whole video. From the hundreds of videos I've made I would say less than quarter of people actually want to see the taste tests. And honestly if you feel misrepresented by “vegan pork belly” and don’t understand what that means or what it is... then... damn I don’t know. There is something wrong there

      Can I ask.... do you think pork belly is healthy? Hahaha fruits and vegetables are vegan. That’s healthy? Is Mac and cheese healthy because that’s not vegan. There are healthy foods and unhealthy junk foods in any way of eating.

    Maybe try making a vegan pork shoulder! It would be interested to see how you would get it that specific texture. Plus, it would help vegan people a bunch that are drooling over a lot of meat based Chinese food and such.

      some people don't want to abuse pigs, who are more intelligent than dogs.
      The real question should be, why abuse and kill pigs when you can recreate the experience you get and enjoy from that without harming the pig?
      A simple concept even a little kid can understand.

      @@doyoulikeoats5084 its not abuse if u give them a happy pasture to run in and play...if u take cate of them dony let them get sick..and eat the whole animal so nothing goes to waste. havint animals on pasture creates an ecosystem...chickens pecking and moving manure, eating buys and spreading seeds, cows fertalizing/ trimming the grass, not letting it get crazy, like it all works..pigs eating and cleaning the areas. we tame them as to not let all vegetation go extinct. i assume anyway. plus people feel better on their natural diet of fruits, veg and meat.

      @@doyoulikeoats5084 vegans like to support big pharma, big corporation, recycling disaster, killing of many small animals, destruction of soil, destruction of water. they buy fake foods wrapped in plastic because its vegan..made with sludge and plant pastes. they support mcdonalds/bk/tyson.
      .anything that also owns stocks in or also sells anything "Plant based" its disgusting lol but if u eat only plants...u will not be well. eating a good mix from ur local farm works. but sadly there are a lot of people to feed and thats their excuse.

      @@Asachara i don’t think vegans would support a corporation that uses so much meat like McDonalds, I feel like that kind of defeats the purpose you know? But anyways vegans aren’t a monolith so no they don’t really don’t all do whatever you said they do
