I honestly never even considered the Dumb Ways To Die song/video an ad, it never really gave me that vibe. I've always just considered it as a part of the game, or a theme song for it. Guess that's a good sign though, I loved watching the video every time I reinstalled the game!

@@artiomgera6686 a boomer is a "baby boomer", which is anyone born between about 1946-1964, and a zoomer is "gen z" which is anyone born between 1997-2012. Those are the real definitions, but online, "boomer" just mean old person, and "zoomer" means young person. Both terms are usually used to make fun of the people.

This is a super late reply but for the city it was made for (Melbourne) you would not forget. They had posters and stickers of the little characters all around train stations and bus stops etc with a message to be safe around trains for close to 10 years. I think the campaign worked extremely well and had a much larger reach than ever expected, last year the train company sold the IP to some game company

For those that want a great (unreleased) ad to watch, look up “F*ck you baltimore”. A used car place in baltimore back a few years ago had a contest for best ad, this one was the best but they couldn’t air it
You have got to do a marketing Monday on mobile game ads. It’s so surreal to watch you break down what makes an ad good and then TH-cam plays the shittiest ads conceivable immediately after.

If you wanna see some funny ads from overseas, the Dutch "Even Apeldoorn Bellen" ads are incredibly funny, and usually has no dialogue so you do not have to know Dutch to understand them. You should check them out.

Berries and creme is a timeless ad. It may not be "funny" now but you have to realize this shit came out in like 2005 when the internet culture and memes were not relevant at all. This was wayyyyyyyy ahead of its time.

I think Atrioc forgot the most successful ad campaign of all time: The FDA's "it's gay to smoke" ad. It completely stopped all teen smoking.
I'm Canadian. Whenever I see American ads that are trying to make me laugh, I always find them way over the top and I feel like they're trying to communicate with me like I'm stupid. To me they always look like they're something that would appeal to 14 years olds. I looked into it once and turns out that there is a very different way to advertise to Canadians. Canadians like ads to be informative above all else and also like ads that tell a story. Dumb humor rarely works.
