    This is one of the best explanations I've ever heard on this subject. It was even explained better than anyone at the field who ever tried to explain it to me.

      Thanks. That was my objective. I watched heaps of other videos, tried all kinds of things, worked out how it all worked, then put together this series of videos to share what I learned.

    Thanks. I was looking to do my first ever mix, THR > ELE, on my NX8. So, the second half of your video gave me all I needed to know.
    Somehow, in the mixing, I managed to get Mix 0 to disappear but have two Mix 1. No matter. It works and it is only this one mix that I need for the model.

      Hi Bill, Glad it came out good. There certainly are times when going through setting a radio up that strange things happen!

    Thanks Jim I really appreciate your taking the time to explain this. Up until this video I was pretty much in the dark about this subject.

      Thanks, Tony. Recently I have benefited from using mixing on some very 'common' applications. The most recent is a glider that 'needed' a reversed servo for one of the flaps. I could have either purchased a reverse servo or a reversing "cable" with the electronics to do the same thing. But given that I didn't have either on hand, the simple thing was to put each servo on a separate channel, and use mixing to reverse the one, being 'negatively' linked to the other, which was controlled by the transmitter flap channel. It also allowed 'fine tuning' to get both flaps precisely the same in operation - should have been right without it, but for some reason, they did need just a little adjustment.

    Thanks. Will try this out to tame a vintage model that climbs too steeply at full throttle, so I don't have to hold down elevator so much.

      Yes, that should work.

    Great explanation thanks, just have flight modes to nail now.
    Have tried and failed to mix flaps with ailerons to work as full span ailerons whilst retaining functional flaps, can do it as a sailplane (DX6e) but no channel left for motor and flaps wont work

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  ปีที่แล้ว

      What you are trying to set up is 'flaperons'. To do that, each aileron needs it's own channel. The trick is then that the "Aircraft type" in the transmitter that is for flaperons doesn't also have ordinary flaps. I haven't tried it, but I reckon that if you chose the flaperon aircraft type, then set up flaps on a separate channel, you should be able to mix the flaperons with the flaps. Of course, with all of this, it's easy to run out of channels real quick!

    Jim, I am new to RCing and I need help with the controls for my Blade 230s Helicopter. I think what I need help with the most at this point is the "sticks" they respond to quickly, I think I need them to be not so responsive. How do I go about making them less sensitive? Oh, I almost forgot, I have a NX6 transmitter. Thank you for any help you can give.

    • @RCJim

      I'm not into helicopters, but I would expect that setting higher levels of expo, and/or lower rate levels in that same D/R & Expo menu would help.

    Hi Jim, can I ask how you got the blue plane pic on your Home Screen and also the green text? I have the NX8 and have the same orange and black screen but my plane and text are both orange orange. 🇬🇧

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave, Go into Palette Utilities, select "Personalize This Model", click "NEXT" in the Palette Editor, then under "Model FG/BG" (foreground/background), select the first set of numbers. Those three numbers are for the levels of red, green and blue. When you select it, it will then show you numbers for R, G and B. Set red and green to zero, then dial in the level of blue that you want. Let me know if that works for you! Jim

      @@RCJim Hi Jim, that’s worked a treat mate!!!! I would never have worked that out. Thank you very much for that. 👊🏻🇬🇧

  • @Anoldphotographer

    Only one question, didn't you just set up elevator rather than down elevator?

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I assume you are asking about the throttle to elevator mix. Pushing the elevator stick forward is moving into positive values, and pushing it forward makes the plane go down. So what I said in the video is correct.

    • @Anoldphotographer
      @Anoldphotographer ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the explanation, I have flown for years but am just now in need of mixing because my new plane really climbs when I apply anything above half throttle.

    This is One aspect the DXs cant do for craft with Flaps. Such a shame, The DXs is a good transmitter except for this short coming.

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the flap setup procedure is a great upgrade with the NX. Unfortunately, that's a big drawback with my new Radiomaster. With both it and the DX you need to manually, but you still can set up flaps and have them deploy slowly, if you want.
