It seems that a Japanese phone number is required to receive an SMS upon registration. I'm in Australia and I have a tried entering in an Australian phone number using the app but no SMS is received in Australia ??? Nowhere on the internet can I find any international tourist visiting Japan saying they have successfully used the app with a SIM card within Japan. Basically a tourist cannot have a Japanese phone number and so therefore cannot receive SMS messaging. Commonly WhatsApp is the messaging service often used when in Japan, as I have done during my 8 visits. Is there anyone who has successfully used the hello cycling app in Japan by the use of a SIM card for whatsapp for messaging ?
