  • Humanity's destiny is to achieve greatness. Greatness is the essence of grace. Devotion and sacrifice, giving and caring are the essence of greatness. This is the way to build real tools for satisfaction and greatness. Such greatness is eternal. The soul cannot take real estate or bank accounts with it to future incarnations, but giving creates an eternal reality that remains until the end of time.
In Parashat BeHar we get the tools to understand the essence of true liberty - the freedom to be happy without dependence or addiction to external factors. Freedom comes with taking responsibility for the greatness that each of us can and must achieve on our own.

I love how the Torah demands sustainable farming practices. Very "green."
And my Dad once gave me similar advice: "The world don't owe you nothing!"
Personal responsibility is tantamount, especially in spiritual terms: We are all in charge of our own happiness and growth.
In a sense "Behar" guarantees that one is never stuck as a "slave" to anything, addictions, bad habits, relationships etc. One is always redeemable mentally and spiritually.
Wonderful insights, Rav. Been really down lately, so I really needed this reminder. Mahalo shalom!✡️🤙🌺
