The Chofetz Chaim brought forth the notion that HaKodesh Baruch Hoo gave Adam Rishone and Chava the opportunity to confess and repent in Gan Eden after partaking in the avera. They chose to deny any wrongdoing, by placing the blame on another, rather than confessing and repenting. Hence, they were sent to a lower realm (Earth). It works similarly here. To err is human. Confess and repent in order to reconnect to The Truth, and return to Gan Eden, or be relegated to a realm lower than this. The beauty in The Chofetz Chiam's wisdom shines for its simplicity. Being a tzadeek is easy, just be holy. And never forget, no liar even gets a trial for liars cannot be in His presence (it is impossible for them to reconnect). Lies are like poison, confession is like vomiting out the toxicity. In many interrogation videos, one can see that when criminals confess they often experience a great sense of relief.
