Thank you so much for this video, I totally appreciate you I am in Michigan with a huge wind storm and -12° ,my furnace was working all day, at midnight it decides it doesn't want to work with code 31 and I found your video and did exactly what you told me to do and it worked!! Thank you again!!!

Thank you! It's single digits here in Colorado and i woke up to our furnace flashing code 31. This fixed it!

Thank you, saved me a trip to the parts store. This fits same code and issue for the Carrier 8000 2002 vintage.

the code 31 was the bane of my existence for a solid 2 hours I am very much a novice at hvac but it decided to happen at the exact time I installed a new smart thermostat
When I opened the vent pipe I finally found it there was a dead bird I was able to pull it out with a coat hanger then vacuum it out
    That fixed it

Thank you so much for your video! I had the same issue and viewed tons of DIY videos on how to resolve this issue. Many of them were long and had unnecessary information and their suggestions didn't fix the issue. I saw your video and it's simple and short process was worth a shot in trying. Plus we have the same model of furnace and the number of error code beeps matched. Eureka! It worked and saved me shelling out $150 for a dispatch from an HVAC tech. THANK U!!!!!!! 😁😁😁

Thank you! It was exactly the issue with the high pressure switch, but just FYI your method did not work but tapping lightly on the switch allowed it to return and fire up. Good man!

I tried the Q-tip to no avail. I verified that the pressure switch was working and tried some other trouble shooting tips from various videos, with no luck. As a last resort I disconnected the hose from the pressure switch, butted a long plastic straw to the end of it, and blew. I thought I detected a resistance the first time, that was gone when I adjusted and blew again. Furnace is now working! Thanks for your great suggestion!

Wow amazing and easy fix. There were many videos with complicated steps and more views. Yours was the easiest. I tried and it worked. In my case the pipe end which as behind the fan was hard to remove and so I removed the one which was easier. I sucked few times as you recommend and it worked. Thanks a lot for saving the night in this could plus few hundred dollars

My mom's furnace went out and it was her board that fried (too much dust build up). After replacing the board and transformer I kept getting a 31 code. So to be safe I replaced the high and low temp rollout switches and the limit switch due to the fact an "electrical fire" could have damaged these as well. Kept getting a 31 code. Called a tech which guided me through jumping the pressure switch to see if that was it. Nope. Still a 31 code so he said it may be the wiring itself. I unplugged the harness that connects to the board and simply reseated it back to the board (firmly with a little wiggle). The furnace managed to fire right up. So if you're ever changing a board out invest the extra $ in new wiring and use electric grease when attaching the harness to a new board. Hope this helps!

Just tried this. Crossing fingers. Had huge wind storm in MN the other day and that's when it started failing.

thanks! In another video, the guy drilled it out a little bit, which also worked well. I think people should try your method first because it's harmless. Thanks again

FYI there's a self test the unit will do by briefly shorting the "C" (24v) terminal to the test connection..
after brief delay, unit will test ID fan, blower (both speeds) and the igniter element. Will then give error codes.
