    I just wanted to thank you for your Carrier 8000 video; it helped a lot. Last year I replaced the igniter on my nephew's furnace and this year it would not start which I tracked down from the blinking codes to be the induction motor. But something I had not noticed last year and which concerned me when I replaced the induction motor was that the flame showed up between and outside of the outer tubes a little. Looking at your video I could see that your furnace did the same thing. Thanks for making this video available. It really helped.

    The blue flames are so cool only natural gas furnace can make this possible!

      why? I have seen some really beautiful flame from LPG.

    Thanks for the help. Before seeing your video, I was trying to locate the flame sensor on my Weathermaker 8000 - I am glad I found your video! I gave mine a cleaning and so far it's working better.
    I was having the intermittent problem of the hot surfaces coming on, the gas fires up then the gas would shut off- randomly. Other times it would work fine.

    What year did Carrier stop making the 58 gs/gp upshot burner style gas furnaces, they were my favorite!

    I have a 58wav111 which was installed in 1997 (17 years ago). It is working fine. I've had some A/C contractor come out to give me estimates on a new A/C. They all say I should replace the furnace at the same time because these furnaces can only be expected to last 20 years. Any comment about that?

    • @springws14lbss

      Did you end up replacing it yet? I would get the heat exchanger thoroughly inspected to see if a replacement would be needed.

      Had mine since September 1993 still going strong in 2023. Only had to replace the blower under warranty when it was new and recently the igniter. That's it

    What's going on when the draft inducer makes a high pitched squeal when the furnace starts?

    • @montrose5paulina
      @montrose5paulina 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P G Crawford Did you find the solution for the squeal of the inducer? I replaced mine but i can still hear a noise coming from the inducer. I noticed if I put pressure on the inducer bracket, the noise goes away. I was thinking about putting wider rubber washers/hose on the 3 screws.

      It does not have one, the burners are lit automatically by a hot surface igniter.

  • @springws14lbss

    Is it digital or manual? There are some older, manual, heat only thermostats that don't have the option of controlling the fan separately.

    Is a hybrid system worth it and cost effective? Or is it cheaper to just be pure natural gas.

    • @springws14lbss
      @springws14lbss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would all depend on the rate of your gas and electricity.

    • @BroadwayLTDProductions
      @BroadwayLTDProductions ปีที่แล้ว

      In most parts of the country, NG is really cheap so the added cost of installing a heat pump instead of an air conditioner is typically not worth it. Now if you have a propane or oil furnace, that’s a different story!

    Is it a concern that the "draft induser" sounds like squeaky? Runs great and warms up the house but it sounds quietly like a bad belt on a car

    • @springws14lbss
      @springws14lbss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably has a bearing that is starting to go bad and will likely need to be replaced soon.

    We have this furnace in our house. It will not come on by it’s self we have to flip the switch off and on for it to come on. When it is on it does not complete the cycle it turns off and throws the over heating code, any clue what could be wrong?

    • @springws14lbss
      @springws14lbss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its giving you an overheating code, check the filter to make sure it isn't dirty. Also check and make sure none of the return air vents are blocked.

    When you say you also have a heat pump, does that mean you have a hybrid heat system?

  • @jackdaniels615
    @jackdaniels615 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just because you have nice blue flames when the blower comes on doesn't mean the heat exchanger isn't cracked. These carrier style furnaces are known for cracking.

    • @springws14lbss
      @springws14lbss  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True, but in extreme cases of heat exchanger cracking, the blower can cause the burner flames to change shape or flutter.

  • @ukickmeikicku

    I had a newer version of this furnace for 12 years. according to the HVAC ppl the AC was wired wrong and delivered 120V to the control board instead of 24V. Since the furnace was installed by them 12 years ago and took 12 years to catch fire apparently, yet they were astounded as to how it went so long psh. and 2 weeks after being forced to install a new "high efficiency" am i regretting not asking the installers more questions. I don't know what model carrier I had but it was 80% efficiency 2 stage and installed in 2006. the new one is an Amana GMSS96 (goodman) and the inducer blower sounds like a mini jet taking off. Then the blower comes on and sounds like a wind storm, is there anything I can do?? or have i just had the worst furnace installed in my home?

    • @springws14lbss
      @springws14lbss  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the newer furnace the same size as the old one? Since its new and has no dust on the blower wheel, its probably moving more air, thus creating more noise.

    • @springws14lbss

      It was disconnected at the T-Stat because a "dual fuel" thermostat was not installed. The thermostat has since been replaced with a Honeywell VisionPRO 8000.

  • @MrShaneMWilliams

    Got the same unit. Right now it'll be a bit slow going through all the stages to get going, and when the flames actually get going, they will only stay on for a few minutes at most, then they will go out. Should I just start pulling stuff off and cleaning it? It's not too dirty in there.

    • @andrewredmon4197

      Check and see if you are getting any error codes on the control board first. Otherwise, might need the flame sensor cleaned.

    Can someone explain the filter operation to me. I can leave the filter in for 6-months, and when I take it out to change it, the filter looks new, except for the 1-inch that is sticking out of the furnace. It this the norm?

    I have a a problem with my Weathermaker. It seems to be the same model as the one featured in the video. When I reset it and it runs the course of igniting the gas, it will shut off gas flow after 8 seconds or so. And then it will reignite them shortly after. It heats my house intermittently and inefficiently. At times it will be be working but most of the time it seems to be blowing cold air.
