Satele DID use a green single bladed lightsaber for a time, but did go back to the blue saber staff. I believe this was around when she very first became Grandmaster of the Jedi.
Actually the saber staff wasn’t exactly forbidden more like it was discouraged. Even the lightsaber pike was discouraged by some masters. Although it does not have any connotations in either direction. Some knights openly used the saber staff without a problem. Just some masters thought it dished out too much damage for too little gain.
The saber staff isn't merely for offense, yes that was a focus. The second blade allows for increased defense as well, creating a wall of protection of both blades and blasters.
This is great! Really great! Satele was really special. And a daughter of Revan and Bastila😁I remember Bastila. She had her flaws but she was good. Brave, honorable, brave, decent. After being routed by the Eternal Empire it only makes sense that she would learn to embrace both the dark and light side. It may make the Jedi seem a bit hypocritical, but quite the opposite, in fact. The dark side can only influence you if you allow it to. But learning to embrace it in the most dire of circumstances allows one to defeat a stronger opponent without succumbing to fear, passion, madness, or power. It is only meant as a last resort, and by an exceptionally gifted force user.
Hmmm not quite even using the dark side at all is corruptive and using it repeatedly even as a last resort can and would eventually lead to the dark side power corrupts and the dark side is easy power. Revan mastered both but once he became revan reborn certain dark side abilities were closed to him. Force lightning for example. However because of his knowledge of it he could use absorption and reflection not only to rejuvenate himself but also send it back at his opponent with much greater power like he did with darth nilus. But this works both ways certain abilities are also closed to the sith such as force heal something Revan could also use to great affect when he was revan reborn but not as a sith. Knowledge and balance in the force makes one extremely powerful but one must remain firmly in the light to maintain this power. This is why Grey Jedi don’t exist as you can’t use force heal and force lightning at the same time they are opposites. And any character who would be grey Jedi would eventually become a sith.

Satele is a direct descendant of Revan and Bastila. Bastila's preferred weapon was a saberstaff. What better way to honor an ancestor than to learn and use their fighting style? And it also needs to be understood what era Satele served as grandmaster in. Fighting sith every other day, darth malgus, vitiate, the cinzia incident, etc. There were a lot of big battles, and huge threats to the galaxy in her time. So, naturally, a more devastating weapon was necessary.
I back the comment made already. She believed in justice, in the light side of the source from a powerful family, so was high in the source power and proud of her inheritance. As a weapon of mercy ending any conflict early, like who is going to argue with her. The law, is the law. The dark side is always a possibility and with her enthusiasm for good, should always be in back of her mind. Also, would love to see full episodes of her life. Surely worth following
In the Star Wars (tabletop) RPGs dual wield (bladed) light sabers are the hardest to master, but it is possible. My (light side) character in a campaign that I played had a dual wield, dual length light saber and was fully proficient with it. Deflecting blaster bolts from storm troopers became an art form in an of itself.
Seeing as how ObiWan saw his own master slain by one, I'm sure he wanted nothing to do wth one. And since none of tne Jedi liked it or knew how to use it, no one would have been able to teach him. After he became Vader, his options were severely limited .
Your Jo-staff, bamboo staff, *Some humble, relaxed female Jedi walking with beskar buckets being hanged by a light saberstaff ,while the bucket is full of lightsaber crystals showing the utility in a peaceful way.*
I feel like KOTOR and the Force Unleashed games are criminally underrated and overlooked by a bunch of ppl even tho their not Canon despite them being potential stories with really amazing characters especially Darth Revan who everybody wanted so badly
"In combat, your mind tries to keep track of each blade separately, effectively doubling the number of possibilities. But the two blades are connected: by knowing the location of one, you are automatically aware of the location of the other. In actual practice, the double-bladed lightsaber is more limited than the traditional lightsaber. It can do more damage, but it is less precise. It requires longer, sweeping movements that don't transition well into a quick stab or thrust."
@@Epyon18572I read all 3 of those books in 5 days. Amazing trilogy! Those could be the next 3 big movies right there. They have gold in their hands and they keep trying to shine up shit lol! Bane was a BEAST!
Wow, the content is so interesting it seem to only last for a couple of minutes.... I surely want to know much more about Satele that even before watching. Like some pointed out, a pity we'll never going to see a show of her; or not, the most likely Disney would ruin her as they did with Luke. Let her be for now is definitely better thought.
Bad example as he turned to the Dark Side and tried to kill all Clones, at the time of his "death" by the same troopers, under his command. But if you like the SW jedi installments you get to know that Cal's Master, Jaro Tapal, used a double bladed lightsaber or staff, and he seemed one of the coolest minds and Jedi on the Galaxy
Darth Zannah proved the double bladed lightsaber could be used for defense. Two blades, twice the potential to block. That would be a good Jedi way to look at it.
The Jedi are somewhat correct in their assessment of the Saberstaff being a more offensive weapon but they fail to see it’s potential for defensive tactics as well. If the Saberstaff is paired with Form III Soresu it could potentially create an impenetrable defensive wall that can be used to shield the user and possibly others as well.
Staffs evennin their simplest an most basic form are very good at defense and even crowd control an even made of just wood can be utterly devastating an lethal in the right hands. Saber staffs are basically the sword staff cousin but like lightsabers is just a very advanced bladed weapon. The classic Jedi especially of Yoda an pre Yodas time forgot no weapon in an of itself is the problem it's more the person
A question that always comes to me during the trailer of satele and her master vs malgus and his master is when there is that brief saber lock between satele and malgus's master. Right after it goes back to apprentice vs apprentice and master vs master. Is there some disadvantage for two force wielders who use double bladed sabers against each other? Why didnt satele press the attack against malgus's master?
Maul also had his saberstaff damaged like this by Ob-Wan Kenobi, but was able to discard the damaged section and fight on single blade style. Perhaps Anakin should have considered the saberstaff, since he was always gettign his lightsabers damaged...
I think the handle would need be made of Beskar to withstand it. Other ones that got chopped were some other spacemetal. Like the stuff the Aluminum Falcon was made of😊
"What stops an opponent from cutting the saber staff through the handle during battle?" Well, i would say it's the wielder's skill and then simply the fact that you just don't want your blade to be destroyed, so you do everything to not let it happen.....dunno, it's just a wild guess 😉 *facepalm*
What if when Grogu activated the seeing stone on Tython it opens a rift in the force to a time with some of the most powerful force users existed!! 2 ancient Jed’aii master & Ranger are pulled through and arrive just a few minutes before the dark troopers have taken Grogu!! Arriving in time to defeat the squad of Dark Troopers with there force imbued Steel swords they stop Grogu from getting taken. Still Luke arrives on Tython sensing the stones calling which both Jed’aii train young Skywalker & Grogu. Grogu’s master allows Djinn Djarin to stick around during Grogu’s training even going with the Mandalorian on his missions and to help the Mandalorian’s take back there homeworld!!!
I blame Satele Shan for my love of double-bladed blue lightsabers. Something about watching her in those trailers as a kid just stuck with me. And it makes no sense to me. Because by all means, if I was a Jedi, I'd most likely be carrying a single bladed green lightsaber due to my simplistic nature and love of learning.
I wonder what the clone wars would be like and how it would end if satele was the grandmaster (during the clone wars) instead of yoda do you think order 66 still would happen
I think it would. Order 66 was thought about back with Plagueis. Sidious saw it through, brilliantly designing it to occur when the Jedi were on the cusp of victory, knowing it would catch them off guard, but Plagueis planted that seed to create a trap.
I know this is off topic of the video but I did want to ask anyways. Do you think you could make a video talking about your opinions on Rey and predictions/hopes for the Rey movie. I understand that she is some sort of a “controversial” character in Star Wars. But I only say that bc of the writing and her story line. Do you think the Rey movie could be good? Or do you think it would be bad? And how do you think it will play out?
I know that woman! Satele Shan shes that Jedi that fought Darth Malgus in the cinematic Old Republic trailers that fight was legendary and outright badass compared to the fights from the Prequels and Force Unleashed i swear when seeing those trailers it felt like i was watching a genuine Star Wars animation but as a cinematic movie even tho it was a PC game (sadly). I never knew who Satele was tho i just know that she was a badass warrior who was at the peak of her power and man it looked cool she fought in a sense where the Old Jedi use to fight when they use to be warriors before becoming peacekeepers for a corrupt senate, the Old Republic showed us what the Jedi use to be like before the High Republic in the Prequels and im pretty sure back then rules of attachment didn’t apply to anyone until much later, with all that being said its really shameful knowing we’ll never get to have the KOTOR storyline as long as Disney keeps destroying the franchise
It 'was' Satele that was responsible for aiding the Outlander in defeating Vaalkorian/Viitiate at the end of the Fallen saga. Call all else about her what ye will.
The reason for the staff to exist is that the sith usually figth where outnumbered, the staff its better for those situations so that was Satele's case thats my theory
What the hell? Because they weren't forbidden in her time. Jedi Shadows were prone to carrying double-bladed lightsabers. Jedi Shadows usually wore white/black robes occasionally donning armoured leg plating and/or chest plating (this was due to the fact that they were trained to always expect a battle). Remember that the saber-staff is one of four options of the game.
This is who they could have used for inspiration for Rey but no! Kathleen Kennedy had to shit over the franchise with her personal beefs, queefs and issues
Since satele probably isint going to be movie cannon ever, i dont understand why they didnt make rey's story more like hers. I think its fair to say she is one if not the most beloved jedi from the old republic. (depends on your take on revan) That didnt just happen for nothing...
I told everyone that Luke skywalker grandfather behide everything not palpatine lord Vader father king Darth plagues wise fool yaaa All he in new movies I can’t wait number one Sith all time Darth plagues wise
You state that the sith made advancements in the saber. But in original cannon when the Sith came from Korriban the first time they did not have lightsabrs only the Jedi did, Swtor is not the best source for Jedi lore if you look at the tales of the Jedi by Dark Horse comics you will find that SWTOR borrowed heavily from these stories but changed them. Sith did not have sabers until there return to the core worlds and they captured them from fallen Jedi.
Is it not possible to use the dual bladed saber as a staff and when desired shut one down and use it as a traditional lightsaber? Or could another jedi too easily cause problems with this idea?
In the trailer called the return I think satele threw her staff to her master and he then dual wields her staff in both single blade and double blade in one hand and his single blade in his other hand. Malgus does the same in response
I think the Jedi put too much fear into saber-staff for it can still serve a symbol the single blade. If was grand master of the Jedi I would encourage the order to build which ever version of the weapon they want just not the wipe and make it is also uses them. Now with saber staff I would try to convince them to twice and become a pair of single blades like Darth Bane’s lightsaber master
Idk how tf a regular saber is a "tool to build" like.... it's still a weapon, regardless of any interpretation. Its just visually less intimidating than a sbaerstaff, but still as deadly. Jedi are being dishonest about this.
while i believe this video is good backed up by starwars sources i still dislike the idea the sith would use a saberstaff first. The concept of a saberstaff is inherently inferior to a single blade. You have two blades of which only one can face the enemy at a time at the same time you lack the leverage as well as reach a real staff or spear would grant for you can not hold it by the blades. At the same time you are sacrificing quick and precise movements of the wrist and rely on long and relatively time consuming turns and spinns of the whole body. You gain the possibility to activate and deactivate one blade but so could a user of a single blade do but with Forceusers with superhuman reflexes reaction speeds, precognition and in the worst case even training against such tactics this advantage becomes almost non existant and to draw a second smaller single bladed saber which can be stored hidden because of its small size would be as if not more effective. Also the size of the saberstaff tells the enemy right from the start what they have to expect if its used as a single blade. All this does not really point to an agressive setup. Instead it provides "looks". It looks like a staff. A weapon someone would carry around who wants means to defent themself but without carrying an actual sword and the aggressive Message behind a true blade. We know that Jedi tend to use the lightsaber only as a last resort and we know that the jedi dislike weapons. Because of this a jedi who wants a ceremonial weapon a weapon that says "i am using a staff i don't mean to fight but i will if i have to" is more likely to develop a doublebladed lightsaber. And a jedi with their philosophy of non aggressiveness is far more likely to actually choose a weapon that doesn't give him the best possible chances in battle.

Where do the “movie” clips come from?
Can you talk about satile and her master as a whole
I very liked the double lightsaber
Where is this footage from? What game is this?
Are there any books with Satele?
like revan darks side + light side of the force
It doesn’t matter Vader father behide everything king Darth plagues wise is number one I told u
If the Saber staff was seen as a sign of death, why did the temple guardians use them?
Thank u im tired of ppl saying exar kun invented saberstaff , my favorite sith are Tulak Horde, Freedon Nadd,Exar Kun,Darth Revan,Darth Marr
The answer is obviously because she is a fucking boss
Since satele probably isint going to be movie cannon ever, i dont understand why they didnt make rey's story more like hers. I think its fair to say she is one if not the most beloved jedi from the old republic. (depends on your take on revan) That didnt just happen for nothing...
It’s about length and reach
She is the G.O.A.T.
I cannot get enough of this channel 🥲❤️
Ironically the sabre staff mimics a quarter staff which is a defensive weapon. But yeah, by all means, lets see it as inherently offense minded.
Its frowned upon but not really forbidden per say
I think the Jedi put too much fear into saber-staff for it can still serve a symbol the single blade. If was grand master of the Jedi I would encourage the order to build which ever version of the weapon they want just not the wipe and make it is also uses them. Now with saber staff I would try to convince them to twice and become a pair of single blades like Darth Bane’s lightsaber master
info about her master? can't find anything. google search equals zero.... how do you even spell his name?
i thought satele used form 4 ataru?
So who trained her if no Jedi want use it?
Idk how tf a regular saber is a "tool to build" like.... it's still a weapon, regardless of any interpretation. Its just visually less intimidating than a sbaerstaff, but still as deadly. Jedi are being dishonest about this.
lol forbidden then you see like 50 players run by with the exact one in the background
Its funny the jedi throw shade at the saber staff when the modern saber itself is a dark jedi and sith invention, cake and eat it or what?
while i believe this video is good backed up by starwars sources i still dislike the idea the sith would use a saberstaff first.
Let me guess: Because she wanted too!
Light Sabres aren’t dark or light.
Kathleen Kennedy: There are no strong females in Star Wars.
Day 364 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
I would rather go with Maul's version. It can separate into two individual sabers that can connect into a saber staff or wield dual blades.
She's such a hypocrite. (Yes, I am still mad at her about you-know-what, thank you very much.)
NNNNNNOOOOOOO
it's not "forbidden"
not to be ruse, but i think you pronounce Juyo incorrectly. i hear it pronounced Jew-Yoh, not Jew-Yah, more often
Almost First!!!
