YES. I’ve BEEN saying this! Humankind had the right idea just awful implementation; you feel detached from your Civ if you can evolve from the Phoenicians to the Japanese. But to evolve from the Marajoara > Guarani > Tamoyo Confederation > Brazil would be awesome. It would be a little difficult/ahistorical due to the overlapping cultural ties between many nations today, as well as the asynchronous development of cultures/our uneven knowledge of cultural/civil development in certain regions of the world (the New World being the best example) but it would be awesome if you start the game by choosing a culture group (Germanic, Nordic, Nilotic, Bantu, Iberian, Gaelic, Hindu, Olmec, etc.) and upon advancing to a new era, you can choose one of their cultural descendants. Each one would have different strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to snowball into one play style all game or pivot at any point. Upon advancing, you can retain an ancestral trait, a passive buff similar to leader abilities, to retain into the next era.

When the Pyramids were shown, the narration might be talking about a religious victory. 'Let us all for death prepare' sounds a lot like some sort of religious analogy, as well as the pyramids being somewhat important for ancient egyptian faith. So maybe religious victory is confirmed ???
This is probably just the intro sequence. We don't actually have much info about the gameplay itself. However, the title reveal shows us a) we staying on hexagons and b) the edges ressemble rivers, possibly hinting at them being more involved this time around. There's also , on the website, what appears to be a screenshot of gameplay behind the 404 error message.
My impression from this trailer is Civ 7 will still be animated but in a more serious and gritty art form. Looks like there will be the major civs playable at the launch of the game and most of the main victory conditions are still in place. I was hoping for a 2024 October release so maybe a Febuary 2025 release instead. Time will tell but I too am looking forward to Civ 7.
Of course my first look at the trailer is on Ursa's channel! I'm very surprised the rocket in the science scene didn't fly up into a zodiac constellation laden sky - I agree with Ursa, no clear sign of religion but I can't believe they would cut that as it's such a major facet of the game. No world council either. The trailer style suggests a stylised but more gritty rather than cartoony look but I don't think we can make any judgement on game graphics at this stage, if you look back at the Civ6 announcement trailer it did not hint at the cartoon style.
As a musician, I sincerely hope they rework great musicians. If you could choose between 3 buildings in your government plaza, why not in your theater square? They really missed an opportunity in civ 6, we needed a concert hall choice for our tier 2 building! Because needing to build a broadcast center for Mozart’s music never made sense, especially since rock bands were in the game
2:38 I'm in the Civ 5 side when it comes to leaders. I particulary love the sceneries in civ 5. I have Dido in mind where you get to see her at night on some sort of promontoire, looking at the Mediterranean sea. Oh my lord it is gorgeous! It's like being in the Virgile's Aeneid. I'm missing that. ALso you're using the civ 5 wood, jungle and tundra version instead of the fancy cartoony one in civ 6!
My DX12 version looks weird. There's glitchy shadow, botched hairs, beards, etc. But the game run just fine. Load time is quick fast, AI turn also relatively quick. But the DX11 runs just fine.
I would like to see civs based on nations not used. Like Andorre or however you spell that beautiful little place I would love to see between France and Spain. Imagine if they were the largest empire in the Civ 7 universe!
I would really like to see a more diverse loyalty sysytem, whith for exemple the differents ethnicities in your empire and each having different priorities so you would need to have balance in the gouvernement to satisfy everyone. And also when settling would be fun to have some local tribes here and there on the map to exchange stuff and let your empire settle near them so they could either join your cities for more population or being annoying because they don't like you.
A new era approaches, Ursa, and destiny beckons. Will you be the one to stand the next test of time, or will you finally fade into tragic obscurity like all of those lost to history? There's several spoken word hints of religion, with talk over the pyramids of life after death, talk later of "beyond this world's life", then they end with all the narrators repeating "So it shall be" Going visual with religion would involve imagery of particular religions, always touchy with the adherents of all the other religions, while you can always mold religious talk into something vague and generic that fits every religion out there. As for when in 2025 it comes out, if they're going for a gameplay showcase in 8/24, doesn't that mean that an at least halfway playable at least early version of the game is going to be playable by then?
