Hi Adam thank you for your comments on my Hilleberg 'Soulo' video.. This is a cracking review that you have done here. Two iconic tents reviewed side by side and you have answered a lot of questions regarding internal volume and lots more. I have previously owned a laser comp and two quasar's but much happier with the Hilleberg. The laser comp is just not robust enough in my opinion for summit camping as here in Northern Ireland is always very windy! Tom
Hi Tom. It was good to see another video up from you and even better to see you got a Soulo. Thanks for that Tom 👍 Was hoping the 7up tins came across better than a tape measure. You're right there, i don't think my Laser would have lasted in the weekends weather. The Soulo has bags of room inside, so on nights when you're stuck in it, you don't feel too claustrophobic 👍 Adam.
Thanks for watching and for taking the time comment 👍 You'll not regret buying a Soulo, I'm just back from using mine last night in gusts just under 70mph 😃 Adam
Thanks Sean for the comment 🤩 I didnt want to waffle on and bring the tape measure out as the video would drag on for 2 hours, so at least this way it was done quick and still gave a decent idea of space....hopefully 😂👍
Brilliant video mate thank you. I already have a Soulo (along with other tents) and absolutely love it! Been looking at the Laser Compact 1 though due to its real small pack size I believe, especially when packing seperate to the poles, plus very light weight. Think this will be a good option for some multi day hikes. Thanks for a great comparison 👍🏻 ATB... Chris Oh and gave you a sub pal, love watching other videos of people with our wonderful hobby 😊🏕⛰✌🏼
It’s not actually black, its the darker green colour and they just look black on the videos (i thought the same when i was first looking at hillebergs)
Thanks Ade 👍👍 Yes, completely agree with you. The Soulo is an absolute gift to set up in the wind and rain, whereas the Laser would be more difficult. That could be my next video review of them...setting them up in gale force winds 😂 Thanks for watching and subbing mate
After a whole days thought while driving my tuck, today Ive decided to buy the Terra Nova Laser Comp 1 but can't see it for £300. Coming on at £360.79. Firstly thanks for the review. I did look at the Hilleberg Soulo many times but as said the weight issue is just to big a difference for me to even consider buying it. Along with the price I think many people would think the same. I am a new camper to making video's and made many mistakes buying items. I think I bought 4 chopping board before deciding on a Bamboo board. My first camp weight was over 30 kilos. LMAO. YEP 30 KILOS and had to choose a camp site close to the noisy road which wasn't ideal but treking 2 miles up hills was a No no. So I decided to evaluate my next back pack on my next trip trying to save weight. I must say that for me there is not nearly enough room in the Terra Nova as compared to my Jackal III Person Tent but come to a conclusion that it's just for sleeping in. I still like the Jackal III and will keep it for maybe not so far a walk locations. Again thanks for the review and making my mind up. 2 days I been searching and the weight is what sold me the Terra Nova Laser Comp 1. Iv'e still yet to buy so if you see it a wee bit chaper send us a message. I am looking forward to making you tube videos. Thanks mate.
Thanks for the kind comment mate. Glad it helped out in some shape or form and the tent you have decided on is an absolute belter 👍 I kept mine in the end instead of selling it as I think I'll still have a place for it with it being so strong yet lightweight. 30kg is something else, you can't even take 30kg on a 2 week holiday these days 😂😂 Looking forward to seeing your own videos and ill be sure to subscribe 👍 Thanks. Adam.
@@amcoutdoors suppose you defo get the use out of it tbf. This camper conversion (or my attempt at a conversion) bleeds my dry lol. Anyway, thanks again mate, looking forward to the next one
That’s a great video. Are you able to sit up in the Terra Nova please? I’ve 6’2” and considering it as a lightweight option for multi-day long distance walks. Thanks
Thanks very much Rob 👍👍 It's very tight. You can sit fully upright but your head would be hitting the inner. I used it for about 3 years or more and it didn't annoy me but it's definitely not as spacious in height when compared to the Soulo which I dont hit my head in. As a lightweight option though, it should be considered but if you're stuck in the tent for a few days because of the weather, I'd say it's going to annoy you. Thanks again for watching and commenting 👍 Adam
Nice one mate. It looks like you might have got some nice lighting up the North Coast tonight but the wind is seriously strong tonight. At least the midgies will be kept at bay 😂 Have a good one up there 👍
Great review of the Soulo,i bought one 2 months ago but haven't used it yet.. Just been reading a lot of comments on condensation in the Soulo.... How do you find it
Thanks for the comment Damien. They're a great tent, you will enjoy using it 👍🏻 Condensation isn't overly bad if you leave the external door vent open at night. Mine is usually pitched on summits where there is usually wind blowing so this helps. It's nothing bad and it's definitely not a big enough issue to put you off using it. I hope you get many good nights in yours 👍🏻
Nice video, Subscribed! I have the Soulo and a one man Zephyros. Quite happy with both, though they are opposite ends of the scale they give me good options for whatever I intend doing,( long hikes in good weather I will use the Zephyros, otherwise it’s the Soulo.
Thanks very much for watching and subbing, really appreciate it 👍 I had the Zephyros as well and it was a great tent, very similar to the Laser. I know exactly what you mean and I think this is half the reason why I have held onto the laser, it's there for summer camping and the option of going very lightweight. The Soulo is a great tent, its the best piece of camping equipment I have.
Nice comparison, in terms of all year round 1 man tent options you wouldn’t be able to do much better than to own those 2. TN for summer, Soulo for anything in bad weather.
Thanks for watching mate 👍👍 I'd 100% agree with you there 👍 Even in summer though, I'm finding myself in the Soulo just because I like it that much 👍😂 Fingers crossed for snow this winter to really test it
AMC Outdoors I’ve done the same. Find it hard to pick my Alpkit Soloist over the heavier Soulo even when the weather great just because the Soulo is so spacious.
For me it's not about how much the tent cost its the weight. This is the reason I wouldn't choose the Hilleberg due to weight. Just trying to save 1 kilos in my back packs is imperative as I like to take the kitchen sink with me or as close as.

Really comprehensive and helpful thank you!
Excellent review, nicely paced 🙏 subscribed
Love the laser, nice and light for multi day hikes, the only thing putting me of is the inner ground sheet having no bathtub,
Been waiting for this one. Great informative video. Genius idea with the 7-Up cans, can genuinely get a feel for the size of the tents 👍🏻
Thanks Sean for the comment 🤩 I didnt want to waffle on and bring the tape measure out as the video would drag on for 2 hours, so at least this way it was done quick and still gave a decent idea of space....hopefully 😂👍

Great review!! I’m wondering is this Soulo a military version?
I can’t find black ones on Hilleberg website...
It’s not actually black, its the darker green colour and they just look black on the videos (i thought the same when i was first looking at hillebergs)
A great review. The set up time difference for me is a fair old factor - nothing worse than battling the wind and rain whilst setting up. Just subbed

Great review of the two tents. The Laser is definitely cosy though hard to beat for little weight in the rucsac😊
Thanks very much Gerry 😀
Buy the 2 person version mate!
Great video mate thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thanks for watching Simon 👍👍
Nice review, that laser comp must be a old one cause they done a newer version with a different inner door..
They actually do a few different ones now.
Cheers Adam. Great video. Don't think I could ever justify near a grand for a tent. Wish I could though lol

I’m not sure if I’ve seen a black Soulo before, or is it dark green?
It's just the standard green finish 👍 Black would look pretty cool though now that you mention it. Thanks for watching.
