It’s hard to beat a new tent mate. Looks pretty sturdy there. It will be good to see you out using it in the mountains like you say. Great size inside it as well 👍
Yes, mate. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I remember you saying about trekking pole tents not being your thing, I was sceptical, but weight and space might be the deciding factor here for me. That 2-man tent i have that weighs a kg. It seems like a 1 person, and this one actually feels like a roomy 2 person
Hi. I know it can vary depending on terrain and weather etc, but generally what do you set your poles at? I have the BD FLZ poles that range from 125-140. I’m a fair weather camper but I’m still worried even at the poles’ minimum, 125cm is still too high.
To be honest, I’ve pitched the X-Mid 2P a few times now, but I haven’t had the chance to spend a night in it yet since I only recently got it. When setting it up, I’ve found that keeping the guy-line stakes really short works best-it pulls the base closer to the ground. I don’t worry too much about the pole height; I just adjust them until the tent feels nice and taut. In this video, the wind wasn’t crazy strong, but it wasn’t calm either-there were occasional gusts that would’ve tested my Nordisk Telemark 2.2 LW tent. I’m planning to do an overnight soon and really put the X-Mid through its paces in proper terrain. I’ve also ordered extra guy-lines and stakes to reinforce the sides, and I’m confident that with these tweaks, the X-Mid will hold up well in strong winds. You just know when something feels right, if you know what I mean. I’ve got an MSR Hubba Hubba 2 and a Nordisk Telemark 2.2, both marketed as 3-season tents, and this one’s the same. I do have a 4-season tent, but I rarely use it. I’m hoping the X-Mid will become my go-to. The Hubba Hubba and Nordisk are great, but they really struggle in strong winds unless you’ve got a natural windbreak. The X-Mid 2P, though, feels like a game-changer-it’s spacious enough to actually "live in" when you’re out for multiple days. Honestly, the interior space is just perfect. Can’t wait to give it a proper test!
Very good 👌

@ I’m a big believer in horses for courses mate and needs must. If your going on a multi day hike and camp trekking poles are the way to go.
