I investigated the Torqhead setup and even called the company (and spoke to the owner) My car is a 92 Corvette Lt1. It just so happens that the 92-93 Corvette is not supported. I wanted to do the Torqhead thing, but for some reason I can't. Maybe it's the OBD1. Don't know.!

Yea your right.. No one wants to work on our LT1 engines.. Either i get a super high price or no response on adding mods to my Impala SS.. Always trying to talk me into LS swap.
I know right! When they came out, everyone was doing crap to 'em. It's like they forgot! And when I took my vette in for a new clutch, it was all about, " but it's a corvette" is why a part would be double, or the labor and all. Ya know, it's fairly easy to work on. You barely have to bend over to change the fuel pump!
I know this was posted a while ago, so I would hope there are lots of miles on the car now and more people that have done this. Have you (or anyone else that follows this cannel that has made this modification) had any problems with it? Also wondering if you or any followers have had any issues passing smog tests with this kit on? My opti is dying and I'm considering this modification, but the car is my daily driver so it will need to pass NV smog check annually. If anyone has done this mod please let me know if it causes you to fail smog check. Thanks.
Hello! So I have sold the vehicle a few years back. Overall I didn't have issues with the Torqhead products; just getting the tuning dialed in with my 383 was the biggest challenge. Their setup is mostly designed around stock parts, which is ideal. I did pass an Ohio smog check with it here as well; not a visual inspection, but just a pcm check.
Question! Is the engine bay brace making any noticeable difference? I'm looking for a way to brace the front end since you know, they really sag after all this time and heavy load.
I’ll have to get back to you. I honestly haven’t driven the car much with or without yet. I’m sure it can’t hurt, but who knows how much it really helps...
My optispark on my 95 Lt1 impala has 2 vacuum lines at the bottom of the old optispark and the new optispark has only 1 place for a vacuum line at the top of the optispark... can you help me please?
It was overkill. My 383 setup ran better with the stock throttle body. I think you need some massive head work, cam, etc to make the most out of that 58mm. Plus it didn’t idle great with it.
@@RubberCityMotoring Yes i know a 58mm is overkill, it is on anything that small, you'd want a lot more displacment for a 58mm. I'm more interested in the quality of the unit, they make the same in 52mm which is what my Callaway has factory fitted. Mine is worn and i need a replacement. TPiS seems about the only place that has them, short of a BBK, and those a total f***en junk.
@@RubberCityMotoring Thanks mate, so far no one has been able to tell me what they were like. Most of the reason it idles worse is due to the IAC path being split out into the main plenum, instead of feeding into the IAC ports where it is meant to go. No idea why all the after markets do that, it causes split BLMs and piss poor idle, but they all seem to think it is just fine.
I’m about to say forget it and get one of these kits. I’ve been trying to figure out why my LT1 sputters/misses when it is warm. It happens randomly and my mechanic couldn’t recreate the problem (of course). I’ve tried fuel filter, ICM, cleaned my MAF, fuel system cleaner, and I’m about to try a coil and MAP sensor. I’m starting to get the feeling that it might be an opti.
Same situation here, turned out to be the seal behind the water pump leaking oil all over my Opti. Now that my car is sitting in my garage with everything removed, I thinking I'll get this kit, put everything back together and be done with it. That way I can walk out to my car someday, start it and have the reliability of an LS with the classic sound of an LT. Best of both worlds. Imo
