- Spy Rock Lookout - Free Dispersed Camping/Boondocking in the Ozark National Forest Arkansas - I decided to camp out at one of my favorite camping spots in the Ozark National Forest. There are several hiking trails nearby and you can see spy rock from my campsite. Beautiful and very scenic area of the Ozarks. I also discuss about my upcoming trip to New Mexico and Arizona. Great camping spot. You also need to visit "Hanging Rock" about five miles further down the road. Great lookout spot!
What a coindence I was in Redding Camp Dec. 19
Interesting.... I saw a family of about five walking the road I had assumed from Redding Camp, they hiked to Spy Rock.
Thanks for the link here for the tow hitch extension . As a trucker I used my F350 for a while as a Hotshot truck pulling a 38ft gooseneck , then went back to the Freightliner . So the truck has a flatbed set up for commercial use , a sticker on the bumper rated to pull 18,000 and vertical weight of 1,800lb. But unfortunately the receiver hitch is welded in to only accept a 2in receiver tube .

Thanks for posting the video. I’m in Quartzite now. My permit expires on the 28th. There’s plenty of geocaches to search out around here on the TW200. I’ll be heading to Alamo Lake for the new year. We’ll be passing each other as you head west and I’m heading back east. Sadly I have to be back at work on the 10th. Stay safe, well and positive. Merry Xmas.

Merry Christmas 🎄. I'd recommend Hot Well Dunes BLM in New Mexico. Stay during the week for the hot tubs. It can be noisy with the ATVs riding the dunes on the weekends. Only $3.00 per night. Currently on BLM just north of Yuma on the California side. Cheers, Steve

Nice content, I really appreciate the camp coordinates! I have been looking to do some dispersed camping but haven't found many resources online for spots in the Mark Twain or Ozark forests.

Just came back from SE New Mexico and cold at night there is much more bearable than the Ozarks. Despise warmer than normal Nov/Dec in the Ozarks you def got out at the right time
I've been keeping an eye on Southern NM temps. The temps are going to be decent. I just mainly want the day time temps to be at least 60's. LOL Being freezing at night don't bother me, I just throw another blanket on me.

How many hours will one of generators run on a tank of gas?
The fuel tank is about .95 gallons. I would probably last about 6 hours under 50% load. I do have the external fuel tank. I have a 12 gallon and a 6 gallon use. Works great.
I spreaded my mother ashes last year there, she love it visiting spy-rock

Great video Mark. I always look forward to your work. This is Chiefonelung. Somehow I messed up my Yahoo account. Anyway happy to comment on this one. I envy you on your trip west. I wish I could stow away in your tool box.Hopefully you can make it to Sitting Bull Falls out from Carlsbad N. M. I volunteered there for 5 months in 2015. There is no public campground, but lots of dispersed spots out Dark Canyon road on your way to the falls. The park is a day use area. Be sure to hike up the narrow trail to the top and see the springs boil out of the ground. Lots of private pools for a skinny dip. (freeze your B#%%'s) off. The water stays 58 degrees year round. Much too cold for this old man. The drinking water there is great. It comes out of a well from a deep aquifer. The campground host should have no problem allowing you to get water. ...................There is a couple of unmarked good camping spots just outside the gate on the right..................I hope that you have a safe, healthy, and fun trip. Enjoy your time in the desert. I did a tour at Nellis and at D-M, bot back in the 70's and learned to love it, especially in the winter. Safe travels.

I think I stopped there three different times. I'll be doing it again this time also, I'll put my stay there in one of my videos. I meant to last year, but forgot. I've stayed down the road at Redding a few times. Since I have the Senior Pass, I don't mind paying a little bit for the running water and hot showers, not to mention the beautiful view of the Mulberry River. I don't have an RV. Just a Kia, but it works for me right now. After watching your video, I stayed at Crystal Campground on my way to Arizona last month. The campground was nice, but I thought the road in was pretty narrow with steep dropoffs on both sides for the last mile or so. I was glad I didn't run into any traffic. I think I'll check out Big Fir next time. Merry Christmas.

I just looked at the map and realized you were camped just east of Mountainburg and Lake Fort Smith State Park. We have camped at the park when we had our fifth wheel. Looking forward to exploring the national forest in that area!
