    I would recommend adding salt to the mix it makes it more durable for exterior use, generally speaking 2lbs salt to 10 lbs of type S lime, mix in water and let sit for 2 hours, remix and it's ready to go.

    We started lime washing our house last year (october/november). Then it got cold and we couldn't continue. Half of the house is done though haha. Using coffee to tint it is a really nice touch! I might have to go over what we did now using your recipe haha.

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY

    • @christianbatchelor1448
      @christianbatchelor1448 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @astro_case, I'm wondering how it turned out with splitting up the lime wash project between seasons? I am looking to lime wash my home soon, and I am worried that I may have to split up the project between a couple months.
      My main concern is that if the lime wash cures under different weather conditions it might look like different sections have different colors. Are my concerns valid?

    • @astro_case
      @astro_case ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianbatchelor1448 I got it completed! Splitting it up in 2 sections wasn't that bad. Now it's all done, I'm not sure if I like it haha. I didn't think about our gutter, soffit, and fascia not being completely white, so they don't match hue wise. Not sure what your situation is, but maybe consider tinting the lime wash to a warm white or slightly off white.

    • @astro_case
      @astro_case ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianbatchelor1448 I don't think you'll have issues of the lime wash changing colors due to different application times. But I'm not an expert haha.

    Looks amazing!! Quick question, I might have missed the answer so forgive me if this answer is a repeat. I noticed when you washed off the fist trial, it came off with water. How do you protect it from weather to last? Also, can you spray it on with a sprayer? Thanks so much for the videos, really enjoying them and you. • @KelseyRomitoDIY

      Totally forgot to say this in the video. The lime wash takes about 5 days to fully bond with the brick. Until then, it can be washed off with water. I don’t think you can spray it but I’ve never tried it.

    Hi Kelsey! I'm about to take the dive into limewashing! I wanted a cream color as well. So you feel like the coffee was worth it? On the videos, it still looks pretty white. Just wondering if you'd do it with coffee again.

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY
      @KelseyRomitoDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I would still do the coffee again. You’re right, it’s still pretty white. But I tested a bunch of different formulas before I started and the lime alone was even whiter.

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY

  • @juliaterrell1513

    How is your limewash holding up? I have a red brick home. Do you think it would require 3 coats to get it as white as yours? Just found your Chanel and I have been binging on your videoes!

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY
      @KelseyRomitoDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for being here! I’ll be honest- the lime wash is peeling a little bit- mostly on the sides, which makes me think it’s my fault for not being as careful on the sides as I was on the front. I’ve wondered if the romabio lime wash does this but for the amount of money it saved me, I would do the diy version again. Especially because I don’t mind if I have to do some touch ups every now and then.
      As far as coverage, maybe try a small spot and see if you can achieve the look you want. If you don’t like it, you can wash it off within a few days.

      Nope no bleach in the pressure washer. Just water. And I absolutely hurt myself! Mainly small cuts and BRUISES from trying to carry heavy things. I had so many bruises on my legs from the lime wash project because I’m scared of heights so my legs were LOCKED to that ladder. 🤣🤣 I used to get my nails done all the time but there’s no point now because my poor hands are always messed up and covered in paint and stain. 😂😂
