  • Day 4 of the ferry flight from Houston, Texas to Sacramento, California. Andrew King flew a Great Lakes Biplane and I flew the PT-22. We made many fuel stops along the way but we really enjoyed the adventure. Being a ferry pilot is a lot of fun but can be very dangerous too.
    You can catch my other video's of ferrying aircraft, walk arounds, and just having some aviation fun. Aviation has been a huge part of my life. Thanks for watching.

    What a great treat to see the Ryan in such good condition. My Mother was a member of the OX-5 club and the Ryan still holds s special place in my memories. Dewey, thank you!

    Spectacular video. What a "long fun" adventure. Reminds me of flying a Cessna 150 from Hayward to Las Vegas thru the desert and Mojave (were I met Jeana Yeager and saw the Voyager before it made it's around the world flight). How do you compare the central valley in CA to the area around Jamestown? Aside from less green.

    Time to hop on the old elliptical. What shall I watch? Dewey has a new video! Looks like an 18:47 workout! Edit: and Delano is near MY old stomping grounds. Would love to go back and fly the foothills of the sierras. Where did you cross the range to get into The Valley?

      Tehachapi pass. Had to climb up to 6500 feet and I followed the highway. It has calm winds so that was a plus.

      @@DeweyDavenport I figured. I’ve driven that 1000 times and thought it was the only reasonable place to cross without going through Southern California and up the coast. I dream of taking that flight myself to go back home and visit friends and family. Tehachapi can be precarious. The winds can be pretty gnarly.

    Dewey, does your Champ have wooden wing spars?
    I need some guidance about how safe they are compared to aluminum.
    Thanks!

      @DeweyDavenport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, my champ has wooden spars. Most Champs are. I think it depends on how well you take care of your aircraft.

    Awesome video trip Dewey! Did the Kinner R540 burn a lot of oil on your trip? How often did you have to add? I heard they run through quite a bit.
