just a reminder this anime is quite old, but the 3d cgi used are top notch even compared to todays use of cgi in anime... and most surprisingly of all... this animation use of cgi is far better than netflix's ex-arms
Seriously, I think I'll never see a fight scene so technically well made and shivering than BRS. No need for annoying slow-motion screaming to keep up the hype, those extremely satisfying mechanical sounds and focus on general sound effects to make it as sensory as possible, the amazing camera angles and movements gliding through the scenario... Just beautiful
part of it, is that the characters fighting, BRS and Chariot are egos. they can't speak, and lack most human emotions, which is what allows the artists to focus JUST on the nitty gritty of the fight itself.
i watch this anime just because of shit like this. if it was just filled to the brim with this stuff, i would love it so much. i will never get over dem damn sexy turret animations.
What I love about Black Rock Shooter is that if this scene was in any other anime, someone watching on the sidelines would have gone "Oh! Rock just used her Black Rock Minigun Jutsu/Bankai/Whatever! It lowers her mobility but increases her firepower greatly!" while someone else watching with wide eyes would be thinking "I've never seen Rock so serious before..." and also the whole change from Cannon to Minigun would have taken three episodes.
@benharbour same here. when the cannon transformed I was excited as hell. the animation quality is incredible.. I also really love how much the camera moves around and emphasizes the action.

Loved this part. But I still think they should have continued the story from the OVA when they made the anime series. Cuz I did only watch the series to the end because of the great battle scenes and the great animation(I hate how they totally changed Yomi`s personality in this anime)

@@jourdanfarquharson4697 while this is true, it really takes away from the scene, if you have seen something like evangalion where im pretty sure the mechs are all 2d, the quality is so much cleaner than trying to mix cgi with 2d animation. but again, i do agree the cgi , while still disappointing was used really well and i understand that this type of stuff would not be cheap to animate compared to rendering
@@ghostreaperlord5944 things in this era like honkai impact game have done this very well. I dont see how it takes away from the scene in the case of this anime. Most of the fight details are visible and arent overly shiny. Chariots spider was smoothly done rather than using drawn out scenes for one action or a still frame for its attacks. Character physics and aninmation are more consistent rather than throwing a whole buget into a few scenes and having the rest of the animation being poor quality. Of course this makes series end up shorter. While ruby may not be that asetheically pleasing, the ice queendom adaptation is a good example of why 2d can fail on delivering an combst idea better suited with cgi that is done right for its intendend purpose.
