Thanks for having me on Cross! The build battles concept is so much fun, and I can’t wait to see what people cook up as the series goes on! Don’t forget to stop by Twitch to watch it happen in person guys!
ive put the build together for my hunter from yours and its actually quite a fun way to mess around with the sidearm, thanks for this 😭 somewhat regretting not buying that nice red ornament a while back
@iAmVirro try using buried bloodline with this exact build. it blows off, considering its one shot ability and devour. it can also be used at a greater range than final warning
I HATED taking Icarus Dash off but my god haha. Almost all my Armour is Resilience, Recovery & Discipline focused! Especially on my Triple 100 Build with Sunbracers literally Strength is at like 23! But Heat Rises you don't even have to consume your Grenade!! Just float get off a few shots/kills & there's your Melee back! Use the Mod that gives Melee Energy on Grenade Kills you're RARELY without a Melee charge! If you've got higher Strength? I cant imagine not getting your Melee charge back pretty much instantly, certainly before you have the chance to use it again after your Grenades destroy all the enemies around you!
Problem is heat rises sort of becomes worse the higher the end game becomes. Exposing your self like that is a death sentence in grandmasters, but for strikes and low tier night falls it can plough through pretty damn good
With Heat Rises, you don't need to focus Discipline or Strength since kills in the air refresh your melee so fast. For Sunbracers I always do Res>Rec>Int and still have unlimited nades and melee.
Heat Rises isn't necessary either. Any proper Sunbracers build makes strength and discipline dump stats. The only reason to have either is in case your cycle gets broken, and even that can be covered by Monte Carlo or a pugilist weapon.
If bear used heat rises and pheonix dive along with ember of empyrean he could have a restoration x2 going forever as long as you get solar ability or weapon kills
LMAO 😂 he didn't use heat rises with Phoenix dive like what the f*** it's insane that he didn't optimize as it is supe easy if you know how to do the rotation correctly
Honestly I didn't really focus on the what aspects he had in his build but as soon as he said 'you don't really need a lot of strength' I assumed he used heat rises. I was really surprised he didn't because a couple kills in air even if you don't hit your melee you have your melee back.
Great to see that you added an explanation of the game play loops to the series! Looking forward to seeing more builds over the coming weeks to keep the season interesting.
Ember of benevolence should be used by every solar warlock using healing rift in gms gives a huge 400% increase to all abilities regeneration for 6 seconds every time someone just touches your rift and they walk out and back in and you will have rift back before it gone and also getting nade and Melee fast and ember of singeing for faster rift regen by 300% when scorching enemies for 3 sec
This is basically my strand build that I use. I do swap between FW and QS depending on the situation. But I find this build offers everything in 1 package. The only thing its missing is a 1 and done super. The clones not just make you “invis” but also draw aggro from your team.
I love this. I like seeing what other people are doing outside of my friend group. Making builds is my favorite part of this game, and I like trying new stuff.
idk if chat told cross, but final warning does not give itself unravel rounds, it unravels targets that are hit by a full hipfire, and bonus headshot damage when ads
Yeah it's extremely and effective especially once you learn to use it better. I'd also recommend trying a similar build like this but with foetracers. You think final warning melts now? Just wait lol.
Not sure how you could credit this build to any one person when it's just the natural buildup to Strand Hunter's kit. There are like 5 aspect combinations that actually make sense, and 4 of which use a dodge aspect. Only 2 exotics increase the uptime of those aspects being Sixth Coyote and Frostees. Shackle grenade is also an obvious pick due to it being the only one that can stun champions.
For a hunter strand build, I have surprisingly been enjoying FR0ST-EE5. You only need to invest in resilience and recovery, maybe an intelligence for luxury. Use gambler’s dodge, and threadling grenades with the strand clone (threaded specter) aspect. Arms: both Grenade and Melee Kickstart Legs: one ‘recuperation’ and one ‘better already’. Cloak: at least one ‘distribution’, one or two ‘bomber’, if you like to use finishers ‘Proximity ward’ (preferably with thread of finality fragment) You become super tanky, you have a passive speed boost and (all) ability gain, and you pick up one- maybe two orbs and your health will be completely full. Good for both PvE and PvP, tweak as needed.
Running melee kickstart makes no sense. You can just dodge to get your melee back, so all you need is grenade kickstart. Spec into mob for higher dodge uptime which also helps clone emergencies
The sunbracers build has a lot of quirks that you need to learn before you start using it, still, this one was missing a key component, that being heat rises, but when you have it correctly set up, some things to keep in mind: ◆Jump very often, as airborne kills return around 10% of your melee. if the arena is filled with adds dying from your nades you will get your entire melee charge just from jumping or hovering in the air in like one or two seconds. ◆If you lost your melee and the sunbracers perk and you have to start the loop again, start jumping right after every kill, as there's a very small window to jump even after the enemy died that will still grant you melee charge, you can get back into the loop in no time. Safer and less disruptive than trying to get jump-kills or hovering around in the open. ◆Angle your snap to hit the floor in front of the enemies feets, I'm not 100% certain why it works (something to do with splash damage), but it adds more scorch than usual which causes an ignition every time, that ignition can trigger sunbracers from adds that get killed by it, even if the enemy you ignited didn't die. ◆Don't spam your nades into the enemy like here at 10:44 because the solar nade ticks don't stack, but the fireballs that spawn do, but if you throw them into an enemy, most wont hit the target, so after landing the first one either stack the rest into a ceiling above the target so the fireballs rain into the enemy for some *_B I G_* damage or just throw them elsewhere for more add-clear so you don't waste your sunbracer perk into a single enemy. Also, not a quirk but remember to eat your nades often, that's a lot of free healing that people tend to forget lol.
this is great content, especially since we are in for a long dry period in game. can't wait to try out some of these builds. really hoping for some out of the box type titan builds that you wouldn't normally think to use
People have been sleeping on Final Warning for some reason. It's beyond powerful, and with unraveling rounds plus your maelstrom, you're a machine. Have been running this for months now. Also, shout out to Bear. Great effort man.
Virro's Build is exactly word for word PlunderThaBooty's strand hunter build. Its not unique, but I am glad that this build is being pushed. PlunderThaBooty is a great creator that has a "Will it Carry?" series where he takes original top tier builds and carries random blueberries in a gm nightfall. All of the builds I've tried from this series smack, especially his tommy's matchbook well of radiance spam build
I greatly prefer heat rises and pheonix dive over the enhanced grenade and rift on sunbracers. Eat nade for HR > melee kill > spam nades and dive for resto x2. The nade dmg in air gives you near 100% up time on melee, and you apply so much scorch time that you almost always have your drive for on demand heals and reapplying resto.
@@Saito232005Yes! I try to run all 3 Classes, I kinda sway more towards Warlock so slightly less biased view 😄 OG Liars Handshake is still even now really really good! The Titan Strand Build? Above & beyond, barely a comparison tbh. It's NUTTY! You get constant healing with Banner of War, Wormgods now boosts matching element weapons bonus damage, grapple melee counts, you have room for an Exotic Heavy (Tractor Cannon where applicable!!) Or something like Sunshot if you prefer it. There's videos of people Solo Flawless the new Dungeon & there's a video on here of a guy one phasing the Ogre. Makes it look like absolute child's play!!
Yeah, I hope next Arc season, they fix 1-2 punch and give a boost to liars. Like maybe create ionic traces on kills or increase lung distance. I know that's asking a lot but look at Celestial now and Shards.
Yo this is why I love this idea. Because that hunter build is a new idea to me and I tried it and its now my go to strand hunter build. It's a BLAST AND it's good in GMs.
Monte Carlo really is just the go to for a sunbracers build for me, just makes so much sense, then you don't even need to worry about strength or discipline whatsoever, you'll always have a melee so you'll always have grenades
Honestly really impressed by the Final Warning build. I think I've used that gun twice since I finished its quest. Might be fun to mess around with again.
I hope we get more creative builds on this series. It really shows that the “build crafting sucks” narrative just isn’t true people just need to be creative and willing to learn different play styles. There’s always only going to be a few top competitors, but there’s so much good stuff that can get you through all the content in the game
If you use Heat Rises instead of Icarus dash, kills whilst airborne return melee energy, consuming the grenade itself grants cure x2 and whilst heat rises is active, using phoenix dive grants restoration x2 (also grants initial cure on landing). Just use ember of empyrean and you’ve got infinite radiant and infinite restoration x2, with the amount of kills the grenades get whilst in the air - you get your entire melee back so you can infinitely chain throughout. If you take a bunch of damage just dive or eat another nade. Also whilst heat rises is active - phoenix dive scorches enemies, so if you hit an enemy with a snap but it doesn’t kill, the dive can cause an ignition and if the enemy dies to the ignition - sunbracers activates.
For the solar build, with heat rises and phoenix dive, you would have both 2x restoration, and any in-air kills would add like 30% of your grenade energy. You can literally bunny hop and get kills to get your melee back super fast. With that change, there is no "I missed so my build is dead" moment. If that change is made, the Solar build is literally unstoppable.
The strand clone really put the work in high level content. It's even better in solo. Not sure about final warning tho. quicksilver is just so much better, even one of the wishbows would be a good option. At least final warning gives anti barrier this season.
This series is going to be great! Love the builds and trying different things. Sometimes the meta just gets so monotonous so it's nice to optimize them (especially with the comments here). Why the ban at the end though? Is it only temporary? Poor dude.
That strand build is pretty similar to mine but i use double threadling grenades instead. Crazy high orb generation so woven mail is up most of the time and you deal ridiculous amounts of damage which in turn refunds your grenades really quickly along with the orbs and that 20% refund from a demo fusion rifle. With gamblers dodge and 6th coyote you can spam your nades, melees and specters constantly. I prefer to just blow them up for that initial explosion and the 2 threadlings though but can be used for extra survivability in harder content. Unfortunately where it falls short is its lack of intrinsic anti champion capabilities since theres no suspend and you cant always garuantee you'll be able to proc unraveling rounds when you need them so you have to rely on artifact weapon perks for those. Its really my just for fun build. Got my hunter all dressed up looking like a ninja and running around with a goldtusk sword
I love everyone coming in here and saying "Wow look at Cross copying Mactics videos." First off, Mactics Will It Build, is taking a random from the stream or discord and seeing if it's good, while adding to it. Cross is taking 2 completely unaltered, and showing what people can come up with. You guys do realize you can have the SAME IDEA without it being stolen lmao.
Monte carlo has been my go to when rocking sunbracers. Triple stack 100 anything but Strength. 10 seconds of Monte carlo damage and you can proc your melee to get 5 grenades. It's insane
Something i think that might be interesting, is if every 6 battles, you then did a team based one where you get two teams, everyone using a different one of the winning builds, and did a battle to see which of the teams of winning builds is better.
Been using a foetracer build with Final warning, mostly because it used to be bugged because foetracer got activated with final warning... but I may have to use this 6th cyote build now. I lose the 4x surge but gain more close to keep enemies off me and it looks super fun... I will have to test this out and see how it feels.
here i was thinking maybe i should take a break from d2 but these vids are soo fun to watch that its single handedly making me want to play the game more xDDD Cross really is the GOAT!
The main reason I really don't like running sunbracers is it relies too heavily on getting that melee kill. If it doesn't wanna give it to you for whatever reason (which is way too often), you don't have a build. You're basically not running an exotic for a while until it whiffs again. And obviously it just sucks as a whole if there's no trash mobs at all.
If the burn from your melee, or the ignition from your melee get a kill then it procs. Incinerator Snap is a MUST for it. And Heat Rises, the dash kills this build.
I'm loving this Strand build. I also don't think you played the other build perfectly but that one is probably still worse. Better in solo play to guarantee you get your procs. On that build you need to have the aspect equipped that gives you melee back on airborn kills so the loop is more seemless
Thanks for having me on Cross! The build battles concept is so much fun, and I can’t wait to see what people cook up as the series goes on! Don’t forget to stop by Twitch to watch it happen in person guys!

10 seconds of Monte carlo damage and you can proc your melee to get 5 grenades.
It's insane
That Strand Clone build was pretty tight, almost makes me wanna play hunter
Bear's build was like bringing Ace of Spade into the current Trials meta, an old reliable.
This series is tits!!!! Absolutely awesome I’m going to keep coming back to watch these!!!!
Bear wanted the smoke
Something i think that might be interesting, is if every 6 battles, you then did a team based one where you get two teams, everyone using a different one of the winning builds, and did a battle to see which of the teams of winning builds is better.
You should do lost sectors. Less variables. Doesn't take as much time
Been using a foetracer build with Final warning, mostly because it used to be bugged because foetracer got activated with final warning... but I may have to use this 6th cyote build now. I lose the 4x surge but gain more close to keep enemies off me and it looks super fun... I will have to test this out and see how it feels.
sunbracer builds are great but used a lot in the game because it is so strong. the clone + final warning build is somewhat unique, I might try it out
The Bear ban at the end was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
here i was thinking maybe i should take a break from d2 but these vids are soo fun to watch that its single handedly making me want to play the game more xDDD
Cross really is the GOAT!
Cross these videos are great keep it up
Pls more of this that's so cool❤
As a warlock main i kinda knew the hunter one would win cause it's actually unique, bears build is literally every wellock currently
That strand build surprised me
Man Bear woke up that day and just gave up all hope 😂😂😂
VERY funn and creative content!
I've been using the strand buld since season started and it's so good
