Imagine having a cool unique build, getting it on build battles and having cross say "This build is starting to struggle" after running head first into a brig cannon shot and dying.
Changing that Threadling build was a bad call. Deducting points for a change the submitter didn't ask for was even worse. Cross clearly didn't realize that Thread of Fury was meant to lean into the Survival power of Weavewalk by giving lots of Melee energy just for throwing or breaking the Tangles, which make Threadlings due to Swarmers, and would suspend enemies too. The melees can also inflict Unraveling on their own, and Final Warning can as well. I think Thread of Fury gives both offensive power and defensive utility. He should have at least done the first 10 waves before modifying it and saying it's better. Can't know if it's better without actually trying it properly first
For the Weavewalk build Thread of Fury actually makes sense because Weavewalk requires/consumes melee charges. Of course the swap you made would spawn more on weapon kills, but Weavewalk also stacks Threadlings and you get more uses because of the Melee energy gain. I think you could say it's dealers choice. The need for final warning is obsolete. Ive been using a similar swarmers build for as long as ive owned lightfall as goofy as it sounds, monte carlo is the goat for weavewalk because it allows you to stalk up on threadlings much more often, and the weavers call is straight up better because of the massive threadling armies you can create, plus the new forbearance will demo and chain reaction, plus the intrinsic trait, you will make tons of grenade energy and a decent amount of melee energy which just makes the build so much better, and with demo there is no need for thread of generation, so you can run thread of warding. On top of all this, with monte carlo you can also use weavewalk as a form of get-out-of-jail-free-card. Because you wont have to worry about running out of melee energy
The damage output from final warning is absolutely ludicrous enough that you can easily put it as the focal point of your build, which makes it very odd that the guy in the vid used swarmers considering the only unique thing that swarmers provides when using final warning is 2 threadlings per tangle, theres like 5 other exotics that would be at least 5 times better than that. literally no reason to use swarmers over veritys brow. 2 threadlings per tangle, vs 250% grenade recharge, and 100% grenade damage PLUS 1000% grenade recharge rate to allies within 20m for 5 secs, youre net threadling count (and damage) will be significantly higher with veritys on top of your teammates loving you the extra regen lol. with the amount of add clear from threadlings and unravel with FW as well as the insane single target damage you'll need to use weavewalk a hell of a lot less, so no need to use something gen melee energy like monte, the best defence is a good offence
@@unknown963_.-5 its up to you, the best thing about the melee is it applies unravel, but FW does that when 'fully' charged so just like with swarmers, going full strength is a bit redundant, I would prioritise discipline, recov/resil, then strength. 32:43 yeah this has been happening to me a lot as well, consecration will sometimes just hog your melee energy and do nothing. I still haven’t figured out what might be causing it but it’s a pain to suddenly lose your melee ability in high end content lmao
One that is very underrated: Astrocyte Verse. Hear me out!! Remember, blinking near enemies makes them Volatile, there’s no cool down on how often you can apply this debuff doing this, the only cool down is for Blink itself which even then Astrocyte let’s you do more frequently. When defending from ads this is an insanely good tool for crowd control that lets you free up a perk from weapons with volatile rounds with a different perk. Also, as a PvP main, this is fun to pair with Repulser Brace with Retold Tale. Edit: My source, I’ve been a Voidwalker main since D1 Day 1.
I have a similar Swarmers build with some changes to aspects and fragments but the centrepiece is actually Indebted Kindness with Permability. Once you turn it Strand and get unraveling rounds, its unstoppable. Using Quicksilver Storm for more tangles, decent burst damage, and overload... its very fun and addicting. Plus the 3 artifact mods that are strand focused are S tier with Swarmers
For the strand build I use the wanderer and the consume grenade aspects so they do more damage while also keeping the unravel and the aoe suspend EDIT: you can go out of weavewalk by recasting it mid air once u have 5 thradlings and also if you consume your grenade it creates 5 threadlings instead of 3 just from the grenade
I love you cross but I don’t agree with changing the swarmers build. Even less deducting points because YOU changed it. With that being said, I will be taking a look at that build cause I’ve been trying to figure out a solid weavewalk build, thank you to the creator whoever you are
14:34 Your struggle was from focusing on the 4 little enemies instead of the Brig that was charging to blast you into oblivion. I saw it coming 4 seconds out ✌️
I think the real strength of the Ruinous Effigy build is CC paired with some damage. It’s not a boss melting build but with Blinding, Suspending, and Suppressing, there’s always an avenue to hold down an area and kill off at least the weaker ads.
1:13 That throwing knife build is kind of like my build but i use ophidia spathe with skyburner one hit with skyburner and then knife to ignite is so much fun, and if i run out of knifes gamblers dodge to get them back and with skyburners doing scorch using ember of singeing i get my dodge back fast so its just a loop of scorch and ignitions, but at the same time as im doing all that i get gunpowder gamble to do even more damage,
Vesper should be used kind of like how you'd use your barricade, to close choke points. Ruinous was meant to keep you alive while you were surrounded so you could build another rift. And I honestly value the blinding from arc more than I value unraveling or suspending from strand here. Still, very creative and fun, might see if I can optimize it further somehow.
Yo quick question unrelated to build battles, if you’re mid solo run and your internet goes out, does it mess up your solo run for rank 11? Not sure if it’s the same as the actual triumph and having to do it all in a single run. Was stuck at the Ogre for probably 3-4 hours losing my mind and then right at the final boss my internet cut out. If I have to restart, I don’t know if my heart can take it
For the swarmers build If you dont mind having the grenade generate as is without the assistance of the fragment, you can swap thread of generation for thread of finality. Though it only spawns 1 threadling after a finisher it apparently doesn't have a cool down.
its also extraordinarily redundant to even use swarmers at all with final warning, considering the only benefit it provides is 2 threadlings per tangle, much much better off getting +250% grenade recharge rate and +100% damage PLUS 1000% grenade recharge rate to friendlies within 20m for 5 secs after throwing a grenade with veritys, youre net threadling count (and threadling damage) will be significantly higher with veritys. Swarmers just really aint it especially as the warlock melee unravels targets anyway, bungie needs to buff them to properly fit a 'summoner' type roll, maybe something like "100% more threadlings spawn from all sources but only deal 75% of the damage."
@@SikPuppy i think its more of just another source to unravel aside from only final warning. You're right though, they need something to give it the little bit of umph. And it's only with the artifact mods that both exotics are amped up a bit more. Once they leave the build will be dialed back in general.
I love this build battle series. Definitely brings many builds to light that I haven't seen before but nothing makes me want to click off the video faster than watching cross, use a build wrong. I feel like sometimes he should just let someone else use the build along with him so he can see how much better they do with it just in case he is using it wrong.
I've run the same build with athrsys embrace and conditional, and when the knife hits, it hits like a truck thanks to the stasis freeze from conditional. One of my favorite to run on hunter.
Biggest problem with the knife build, is if you don't run it regular and prep for your heavy properly.. it's hard to use in crowds and its just a downward spiral.. you NEED no less than x10 on parasite.. x20 is like dropping a super with 1 weapon mod as well (and auto loading mod to save time). It doesn't that many kills to build. But, if you only do x0-x5 on it you might do insanely low damage at 25-50k damage ranges. You kill the lower adds to nuke all the others. Throwing knife chains leading to a really well-placed parasite bomb is an instant lane kills. I feel if you learned the build or used it a little bit more ahead of time you coulda seen it's true potential for nuking everything even on boss waves. I myself prefer a similar build, but I used star eater scales (or shards for super looping) because 1 max super and 1 max parasite is INSANE damage for this content.
Ruinous effigy could probably swap Vesper of Radius for Nezerec's Sin or Swarmers and then use The Wanderer instead of Weaver's Call. Vesper isn't utilized to it's full potential plus the slam on suspended targets really wipes everything before Vesper's rift can damage anything. It's awesome but has too many moving parts IMO. Plus with The Wanderer you can throw a strand orb, suspend everything (so you don't need to get a kill with RE to suspend everything) then suppress and slam. Now you have two ways to do the loop.
The weighted knife has always been one of my favorites, especially after the Solar 3.0 update. The update took it's original effect of refreshing itself with precision kills, which got replaced by the aspect that let's any kill refresh the knife as long as you're radiant, and made it refresh your dodge instead and guarantee an ignition. Too bad they nerfed YAS, as the weighted knife was, hands down, the better option over Fan of Knives, as long as you knew how to properly throw it.
Bro did not see the chat on the initial reveal stream for Onslaught. The whole thing was just people shitting themselves over the fact that it was on midtown and reused content and a whole bunch of other bullshit, completely ignorant of what was actually being shown. People definitely had doubts on Onslaught.
Hey Cross i hope you see this. A lot of people tend to ignore high stats on armor but for strand melee you shouldn't. The higher your Strength Stat is, the lower the cooldown obviously, but what many people dont know is that it escalates the more melee charges you have. For example, Eye of Another World with 100 Strength, the cooldown is 15 seconds when you only have 1 missing melee charge out of the 3.
@@unknown963_.-5 definitely max out strength and resilience, recovery is not much needed since I'm in weave walk like half the time, it's literally Weavewalk on demand but the best part is... YOU DONT NEED A SINGLE MOD!
YES! Effigy!!! But I have a better one! I have had a Onslaught Ruinous Effigy Void Warlock, Felwinters Helm build since the second week of Onslaught started and can't believe nobody else does lol. I love it paired with my Felwinters Helm Warlock helmet, because in large waves, I can keep everything void debuffed and suppressed, all the time, first a melee kill, suppresses a bunch, then my finisher suppresses a much larger amount, then of course I get a quick kill with Ruinous, grab that transmutation sphere and keep them all that way, as my mates clear them out lol. It helped when our Hunter wasn't using Tether. I can suppress A LOT of enemies lol, over and over, 3 ways. Even the slam attack with the sphere can save you from very powerful enemies, if done right! No melee attacking with the spheres as Cross does here lol. Just keep everything suppressed 😁
I was searching the comments looking for someone who had this same idea as me. I usually use Rat King with Felwinter but I will be trying this out. Also, the Vesper with Stasis might have worked better than Strand.
@@Michael-ee4uz @Michael-ee4uz Wavesplitter works with the build too, because it suppresses targets with sustained fire after picking up orbs that empower it, but I just really enjoy Ruinous Effigy. Especially in Midtown where I can suppress huge numbers of enemies in narrow corridors with finishers, then keep them weakened with The Transmutation spheres weakening field, then finish off with the suppression slam, so synergizes perfectly with Felwinter's Helm. It's strength shines during overwhelming waves. Prioritize a melee kill, then finishers first. I see others playing with the spheres too much lol. Use Echoes Cessation, Obscurity, Starvation and Harvest, to go invisible with finishers, get your devour rounds and finishers also making nearby enemies volatile. The synergy with Effigy is excellent! I play with the same 2 friends, but have never tried this in a a matchmade scenario
@@lunamaria1048 I've used Wavesplitter recently with it. It is strong. Rat King lets you go invisible and recover health so you can close in for the finishers, going invisible on void after a finisher, rinse and repeat. It's also anti-barrier.

Plus the 3 artifact mods that are strand focused are S tier with Swarmers
the Ruinous Effigy build gives me ideas
Final warning! Plunderthabooty is smiling
Facts! He definitely brought that weapon back into the limelight with his Hunter strand build
The thumbnails on all the build battle videos are so good
Props to the vesper guy that's a super creative build and on top of that it WORKS
For the strand build I use the wanderer and the consume grenade aspects so they do more damage while also keeping the unravel and the aoe suspend
EDIT: you can go out of weavewalk by recasting it mid air once u have 5 thradlings and also if you consume your grenade it creates 5 threadlings instead of 3 just from the grenade
My favorite TH-camr of 2024 for sure. I’m glad I discovered your channel!

You guys should put the chat on screen for these videos, would love to see the live reaction to the builds mid gameplay
I love you cross but I don’t agree with changing the swarmers build. Even less deducting points because YOU changed it. With that being said, I will be taking a look at that build cause I’ve been trying to figure out a solid weavewalk build, thank you to the creator whoever you are
That music around 19:00 just hit me with a Super Fast Build mode vibe.
Yea instantly reminded me of Scar xD
I'm glad I'm not the only one!

14:34 Your struggle was from focusing on the 4 little enemies instead of the Brig that was charging to blast you into oblivion. I saw it coming 4 seconds out ✌️
I’ve been using this warlock and final warning build for months and it’s been my favorite, absolutely kills
Final warning reminds me of that Men in Black weapon that's really small but incredibly potent haha
Warlock build seems fun. Gonna have to give it a try
Editors cooking with the music vibes *chef kiss*
I think the real strength of the Ruinous Effigy build is CC paired with some damage. It’s not a boss melting build but with Blinding, Suspending, and Suppressing, there’s always an avenue to hold down an area and kill off at least the weaker ads.
The vesper effigy build is a prismatic preview
It’s hilarious that we know that unironically he can use what he put here but more
warlock strand build is INSANELY FUN, made me enjoy the game again, and I've been a hunter main since D1.
Wishkeeper is such a fun bow too
Strand hunter with mothkeepers and final warning *chef's kiss
Man, please keep going. I really enjoy your content.
Great way to start my day BUILD BATTLEEEEES
For anyone looking for the song at 19:20 it’s. Lupus Nocte - Howling
The knife bounce attempt on the brig is just insane
Love how cross sounded disappointed or upset about slash's ban bro gave the saddest "yaa"
The editor is CRUSHIN with the music
What is the song for the strand warlock build?
The Final Warning build is IDENTICAL to my Quicksilver Storm build I've been using since the start of Season of the Witch. Its dummy good.
Cross, if you have void siphon, the ruinous ball light attacks also generate orbs of power and can helo out with ammo economy
The Parasite slander is insane 😂 its a pocket nuke and with the right setup you can make it a dps monster too
Cross You should do a tournament with all the builds that have won so far to see what's the ultimate best build in the game
builds with object pickups struggle in onslaught since it seems the batteries have pickup priority.
Had two banner of war titans on the same team and went absolutely beast mode on that fallen boss with the two swords on round 50.
I was WAITING for you to finally use Final Warning in a build. Very slept on gun honestly.
He used it for a strand hunter build which is the build I use
19:30 "now entering superfast build mode"
This series needs to stay !
19:30 Got that Super Fast Build Mode I see)
Someone has gotta show him the weave walk+ witherhoard thing...
And the Community had doubts about Onslaught. While not perfect, the initiative to create these builds is something to behold 😊 👌
the community never had doubts tf
@@joshroblez9846there was lots of negativity before it released, ig u didn't see it
Bro did not see the chat on the initial reveal stream for Onslaught.
For the final warning build u want max res recov n strength right?
What good is Rat King? Lol
@@lunamaria1048 I've used Wavesplitter recently with it. It is strong. Rat King lets you go invisible and recover health so you can close in for the finishers, going invisible on void after a finisher, rinse and repeat. It's also anti-barrier.
Just a question, is the build battles ban a permaban or is it just, like, a month?
Hear me out, Hatchling weapon, swarmers, void, weakening on nades, supperssor nade, feed the void, COTG... It shreds for some reason
Cryosthesia works really well with the throwing knife build. That being said, I did not work for me in onslaught as well as it did when I used it in nightfalls
I'm so glad onslaught has transformed cross into a hunter main 😂...bout time u came to the darkside...
Yeah that first build slapped, Ima make that build
How do I submit to this? I have a build I want to show
Man, I’ve been wanting to see what Ruinous effigy could do in onslaught, Nameless built a truely mad scientist use case, and he should have won that. He unified 3 elements pretty effectively IMO
You need to try divinity with Arthys’s embrace. Make your own debuff giant crit to throw knives at.
Are those Perigean greaves!!
I created a suspend titan build... wanted to use quicksilver storm since I never really did... also watched hatchling. Thread of Rebirth is a badass fragment, the build is gnarly.
Are there no dim links this time around?
Love running threadling build with orpheus hunter. 3rd person can run anything
43 minutes of build battles! Now I gotta change my pants. Thanks cross
13:10
me obsessively trying to imagine the gameplay loop like its a mathmatics formular: ....
cross: really its simple maths
ive been using ruinous with briarbinds, thats a potent combo, youre going to have to retrieve the transmitation orb anyway, might as well pick up the child too.
