Its a Catch 22, i love phones with physical keyboards but I have gotten used to not carrying the extra weight. I grew up with HTCs with slide out keyboards and I miss them sometimes.
This makes me miss the days when Samsung used to make keyboard cases/cover for their flagship with software support in One UI to boot! The S8 is the last flagship that they made an official keyboard case for.
Definitely not something I would buy, but I can appreciate how slim they made it around the sides and corners. I don't know if I missed it or not, but how does it fair if you were to drop the phone? Especially if it hits on the top edges
Pro Tip: Using voice transcription really offloads the need to have a physical keyboard. Also, pressing on the space bar on virtual keyboard enables a trackpad to move the cursor to edit text quickly.
I bought on when they first came out for the iPhone 14 Pro. It was OK. It eventually broke after about 5 months. For me, the added length and inconvenience wasn't worth the added function. It won't fit in stands, chargers, pockets, etc. If they could make it easily snap on and off, that would be better. So snap-on rather than "case" I think would be better.
I'm really torn about the MCON. Do I buy in now, gut the controller with a Dremmel and put in a bluetooth keyboard or wait until the MCON keyboard comes out.
@ClicksKeys Currently Android 12 on a Moto g Stylus 2022. I expect to get a Moto g stylus 2024 with Android 14 in the future. I don't have the budget or the desire for a flagship phone. I don't know how Clicks for Android would work because there are no physical standards for Android phones. Maybe if you dump the phone case and produce a keyboard that plugs in via usb-c but staying attached to the phone would be an issue.
There was a slide out keyboard option a few years back that got sued by BlackBerry. That was an easier to handle design it seems. Regardless excellent video once again!
I've been wanting one of these for a while. I HATE virtual keyboards. Unfortunately, at that price and knowing that it's one phone-drop away from being rendered unusable on the replacement phone, I haven't been able to justify the expense. I'll get one one day though.
Swipe typing is so much faster than this or tap typing on phones. The only reason I'd want this is to practise some coding algorithms on the go, but it doesn't look like it'd be good for that, either.
Great, now maybe a slide-out horizontal version? Who remembers the amazing HTC Touch? I think that the Magsafe ring could be used to make a horizontal slide-out (and pivot) keyboard, using the exact same principle as the upcoming OhSnap M-Con game slide-out controller, only with a large keypad. It'd be quite thick, but for some I think it'd be a good trade-off.
Appreciate the feedback! Trust me when I say we looked at all the orientations for our first product :-) Horizontal is tough because of the width of the overall form factor and the amount of reaching your thumbs would have to do. Not ideal for fast thumb typing.
Ooph, i love that there is some activity in the cell phone keyboard market, but this looks like it would feel like typing on a plank of hardwood flooring.
The arrangement of the keyboard in a square, vertically aligned format as opposed to the normal staggered keys like a normal keyboard or the blackberry makes this very difficult to get used to
Very expensive to go back to a blackberry feel. IMHO humans hanging on to old tech that didnt work well to start with. I see no use case for this expensive keyboard. Let the market sort it out. I see this item having very limited demand.
This is so smart. Nobody ever thought of this. I’m sure a cheap plastic keyboard case will be in use in one year. I’m sure it’s worth the money. I’m sure I’ll carry that around in my pocket to make it as long as an old school wireless phone.
@ people who enjoy it are wrong. With the built-in keyboard, you have the swipe function and you could use the microphone. You have better AutoCorrect.
No, it's not cheap. But hear me out... People pay $399 for an Apple Magic keyboard all day without blnking an eye (27% of the cost of an iPad). At $140, Clicks is 14% of the cost of an iPhone 16 Pro. And it changes how you use your phone. Sure, I'm biased but it tracks...
This is the crossover episode I wanted! Really love both your channels.
This is for those wanting positive feedback of physical keys. Those with a tough time steadying their fingers on a virtual keyboard will like this.
BlackBerry nostalgia. Mr Mobile has always been nostalgic.
Now add a sd card slot and headphone jack to this. I will instantly buy it
👍 and I don't own an iPhone
Came here to comment this!
That’s actually a great idea
I totally agree
That’s actually a great idea! May be add a camera shortcut button too
Brings back fond memories of my Palm Pre. Great review.
Hey Lon, wouldve loved seeing you slide this into your pocket to see how big it is. Thanks for a great video regardless!

This case is a MUST have for iPhone 16 owners - extremely useful buddies
Would be cool if it could slide up/down like an old school cell phone.

Whoa. Do you realize how much better the video is with your overhead lights off?

I want the MCON kid to make a slideout keyboard next so we can get a Sidekick style vibe on any phone.
I'd probably buy Clicks if it were for Android.

@@justanotherstanczyk What Android are you guys rocking?

Tempting purchase but phone won’t fit in my small pocket.

This Case To Having A BlackBerry Bold Design Architecture Model ⌨️📲
This is such...... :-) Things the world does definitely not need.

Jay Leno Phone.
Man, sometimes I miss T9 lol
Is that a Clicks Keyboard in your pocket... 😂
This with the M-Con controller would be crazy
Amazing new device turns your phone into a stick!
hi lon have you seen LGR's new video he comments watching the 1993 Consumer Electronics Show ! lol so good.
It's on my list for tonight!

@@ericB3444 people who like stuff i don’t like are wrong. chocolate ice cream is the only ice cream worth buying.
Pricey though. $140 is a lot for this, even if I’d get a lot of utility out of it.

Smartphones with fisical keyboars need to return, but this form factor....
Physical.
This launched A YEAR AGO and it flopped.
Launched a year ago and they are still in business- this is their second revision of the product
Why not just get a small size BT keyboard??
Because it won’t be attached to the phone. Kinda obvious.
🤡
$159. Oof
hot garbage.
"its not for everyone". that optimistic! more accurately, "its for a very select few"
