    Pretty inspiring mate!
I’m 50 this year and having skated for most of my teens and early twenties I’m giving it a go again! - despite practically living in skate parks in my earlier days, they seem so intimidating now! Thanks for the motivation!

I’ve had to realise how important timing is. Like in my head I keep telling myself POP FIRST before even thinking of moving your other foot 🤘🏻

So true! There's so many steps to skating I tend to forget some along the way haha

Part of my warm up routine is doing shove its, backside and frontside, in every stance and i´m able to land most of them first try by now. Switch pop shove is definitely one of the harder ones, i usually do them without popping to concentrate more on keeping my shoulders straight before i add the pop.
You should try switch frontside shoves as well, they are easier to scoop than regular ones imo and i can pop them pretty high. It is harder to stay on the board after landing though, most of the times i have to revert after landing just like you did after landing the switch pop shove it.

Thanks for this! I do hear alot of people like switch front shuvs. I tend to forget to jump back with it haha. I do love a front shuv though!!

the switch shuv reverts you were doing are a lot harder to me than regular switch shuvs. for me the secret is to just dip my forward shoulder when going switch and it keeps me from opening up my shoulders and turning.

I'm kind of like you in the sense that I learned switch shove reverts before switch shoves because they felt more natural to me. Now I can't switch shove revert but I can switch pop shove on flat every try and can do them off obstacles. The secret I find is one having your shoulders parallel to the board and being comfortable doing tricks in your opposite stance and riding away in that same stance. For this i'd recommend doing fakie tricks and learning to get ride away comfortably in your opposite stance before reverting back to your original stance. The next tip, and this is what will eventually unlock sw bs bigspins, sw 360 shove its, sw impossibles etc. is before you scoop, make sure to lean your weight onto your heelside and that will give you the leverage your back foot needs to scoop the trick. Once you learn this little hack, I guarantee the switch scoop will come much more naturally. Also doesnt hurt to mess around with nollie shoves because not only is it an easier trick but it will have you better equipped to scoop the trick

if you do the heelside thing, it's also extremely helpful in ensuring the board stays under you and you don't have to focus on jumping forward or whatever may be the case

also it may help to angle your front foot like you would for a fs shove while still keeping it on the bolts rather than what you seem to be doing by having it parallel

I can barely do natural pop shuvits, it looks cold down there by the way.

Yeah, winter is chilly. Good to have a run of a couple of days with no rain though

Regular back shuv is more difficult for me

Both versions are frustrating imo. Give me a front shuv anyday haha

Wetness is wetness, Melbourne's winter is not great. To be fair, yeah there is no snow but it would also be cool to be in Canada
