    My late dad rode in an elevator together with Carol Channing when she was in Atlanta...she had a couple of her staff along with her. He said she acted very gracious...that was dad's "brush with greatness"...

    What is so delightful and delovely about Carol is even as a great actress and smart woman, she has a certain very charming childlike quality, that is unique to her alone.
    I could watch Carol Channing read the phone book.

    Although Carol couldn't help but use gestures, she worked harder at giving clues than anyone & was a delight : ) And as always, Allen's closing: "The password tonight is..." was great. If we had shows like this on TV nowadays, maybe our current society would be in a better place.

    Alan didn't hesitate to show his incredulity at the inept answers and clues. "Twisted". Frito?" "Frito?? No!! ha hah" . I like this. It's what the audience wants to scream out at the TV but in this day and age a host would never risk insulting the players. The host had more leeway back then.

    • @kokoken1
      @kokoken1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure "delovely" was hyphenated when Cole Porter (I assume) coined it, but over time, words change in the dictionary. I remember when "cornflakes" was a clue in the '60s (for "cereal"), and I expected Dr. Goodwin to buzz it, but he didn't.
