I’d recommend trying to implement a logbook for towers you’ve used. It would log the towers as “logged” when after placing the tower and as “completed” when they fully upgrade the tower. This incentivizes players to try out each tower and see their benefits. Also the tower list UI on the right could be bigger so it’s easier to look at to reference the tower levels and xp.
The tower UI on the right should have each tower’s stats separated by a blank line, it’s a lot to look at and dissect at the moment and I only looked at it when I was wondering what it was, not for any game information. The health and money graphic should be above or below the cost of towers and rerolls, for the first couple rounds I was confused about how the money worked. - in addition to the health/money moving, adding towers which cost HEALTH to buy/upgrade could be a fun risk to gamble with. For example, have one extra, fourth ‘available towers’ slot to buy from which you can only purchase with health and only gets rerolled after every round, maybe?
@@magistrateaeph That first suggestion is a super good idea! Inspired by SAP, I like it a lot and it would incentivise players to come back to the game after winning which I've been having trouble with. The UI can actually be scaled from the settings but since my laptop has such odd dimensions it's hard to know what's a good scale for everyone else's monitors. I might change the default up a bit... Thanks!
@@malign3158 Yeah those first two problems would be solved I think when I get the tutorial working... There's actually a tutorial in the game but for some reason it seems like it's not showing up. Health idea is fully sick, that'd be an awesome way to gamble with health, especially when it's so limited. Unfortunately the way I programmed the game was super head empty and I didn't account for a potential additional shop space, but I'm working on a new tower defense as we speak that will have that mechanic 100%!
Only super confident or very instinctual players would go for tower combinations right off the bat instead of easing in with 'safe' towers. Olexa is secretly a TD Gamer in disguise.

One question that popped into my mind was how many max tower slots does the rent sign give you? Or does the rent sign not count towards your max towers? Because if you place it down, [if] it uses a tower slot and gives ONE back, it doesn't quite add up because you would of had as many free slots before placing it down as you would after, with the debuff of losing 2 gold a round.
Yeah so the rent tower is initially really bad, because as you said it's just that -2. But if you level it up (by getting a ton of rent towers around an xpbooster for example) they grant more slots which can go pretty hard
@@OlexaYT Ahh interesting, so you aern't necessarily encouraged to immediately upgrade towers, instead have multiple of the same. But you couldn't of been playing it too wrong, you did end up winning in the end. :) @orlandoscalzo2712 I see, so it acts as a high risk high reward tower. If you can't get it upgraded relatively quickly, you might end up crippling yourself, but if you can manage it, it gives you a massive buff. Interesting! I like it.
looks to me like the upgrade tower works kinda like the cow in SAP, you could just buy and sell to get it's effect, or you could keep it and combine for an even greater effect later on (maybe 2xp per level instead of 1?) It also likely increases the range so other towers that aren't adjacent also level up.
This isn’t how the game works. Tier and level are different. Tier is just saying how rare the tower is. You unlock new tiers throughout your run. Level is the power of the tower that you can upgrade. I fed two tier 3s bazookas to a tier 3 bazooka because all bazookas are tier 3.
Just so confidently incorrect it’s crazy. Tier isn’t the level of the tower. If you rewind just 30 seconds you’ll see me buy the first metropolis which is also tier 2. Tier just indicates a higher quality tower, every two rounds you unlock the next tier. Then you can level up the tower by adding more of the same tower to it.
Around 13:22 you buy a T2 black hole and T2 metropolis... only to give 1xp to their T1 versions - kinda sad, that the game doesn't upgrade that, when you could have sold the existing ones and replaced them for an instant tier upgrade +2 coins
That’s not how it works I don’t think. Those are tier 2 towers by default, then you level up to 3 on the tower. It’s just a higher tier than the lower level towers you start with Tldr: tier doesn’t equal level
@@OlexaYT ah, nvm, could've sworn I saw you place down a tower labeled as T2 that started at level 2 as well. Not exactly the best game design choice then though xD

When he finally realized the fridge was sitting there frozen all the time XD
"Is your fridge running"
"No? It's on the freezer"
*Several rounds later*
"Oh."
Came here for this comment
The game looks fun but that fridge just annoyed me so much the entire video
This gives me massive early 2010s flash game vibes

I mean, I figured that out several rounds before he did. It's pretty obvious if you pay attention even just a bit, which Olexa *never* does.
The Amp seems actually insane with the black hole
Urge everyone to go buy this game its actually super fun to play and is a good time killer
Item gives a second pass to kill enemies that he's struggling to kill "I don't think we need it"
Bruh.

So I played a littttle wrong actually. You can place as many of one tower as you want. The towers listed on the right are solely for tower types.

GMTK game jam is a thing that might be intetesting
Definitely wanna check some out
I like the theme this year
it feels that some items to buy should be spells or si you do once and not towers. like the xp up. otherwise looks simplistic but fun.

Seeing people playing these hidden gems in similar genres as my game gives me hope :) Amazing game btw, looks super fun!
the cash system (tower costing 3, and rolling costing 1) reminds me of Super Auto Pets (another cool strategy game)
Yup it’s inspired by sap

Maybe he talks like me
Anybody loves these visuals really??
You should check Island Defense 👌

It takes inspiration from SAP with the way they do the dice to symbolize what tier they’re from. It could be a little more clear yeah
