    Release the plums - lol! I know that sentiment. I love this list. For me it was the yellow construction helmet - only in two obscure train sets in 1978 - then brought back in 2010. I had paid $30 for mine and you can get them for less than 5 cents now. Fortunately though - I know mine are the actual 70s version which has a very minor mold difference.

      Oh wow! That's so interesting! I love learning stuff like that! You would think a yellow construction hat would have been very common! I know what you mean about the mold differences. I marked my yellow 1x2 channel bricks from the Public Works Center as vintage in my BL Store so people would know they are the 80s version and not the 2020s version.

      Hello there. Have you ever seen the Lego cone piece #6039 in blue? I was going through a bin of used Lego bricks and came across this piece wrapped in a ziplock bag.

    Really interesting how pieces can go decades between releases in certain colors. I wonder if set designers are ever aware of these rare part/color combos and try and find a way to work them back into newer sets?

      I don't know about parts in a specific color, but I know lego destroys moulds every 5 years if they're not used, and designers will work in closer-to-end-of-life parts if they can to keep them alive so to speak.

    Cool List! It's interesting how LEGO does part and color combinations. So if a part in a color is in "Stock" or currently being produced then production of that part is cheaper. If the part existed in that color but not in stock or in production, then it cost LEGO more, sort of. And parts that where never produced in a color means they have to create a new ID number, more "COST"? OR so I have been told, and gets a meeting at LEGO to get approved. So a part brought back to life after decades of not being in that color probably generated a meeting at LEGO, and that makes me smile... LOL

    • @donm2255
      @donm2255 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every company want's to reduce it sku count. Each sku requires an additional color change in production and inventory space. Adding another sku requires someone to justify adding the new part. If a company keeps adding sku's, then at some point they have to add another warehouse to store them. For every person at Lego trying to get a new part/color combination added, there are most likely two people trying to eliminate a part.

    I own the Black Pearl from 2011 and for the longest time the Part 64647 Plume Feather in Black was exclusive to that set. I remember the price of it being anywhere between $12-$15. They rereleased it in 2022 and it devalued it significantly to like $0.20! Such a bummer but the use of that part now is great, especially for the Madam Pince figure for Harry Potter.

    I wanted to make a stargate display, complete with jaffa, and I found lego 'Anubis' minifig parts... I got a few heads and torsos, not cheap, and the legs were $10 a piece I think? Might have been more.... and the print on the legs was so basic...
    I just got plain black legs. You really can't tell the difference.
    Hope you find your blue feather at a good price some day 💙

    Two of them for me were the white lightsaber hilt and inquisitor hilt. Both used to command fairly high prices being exclusive to only a few sets - sets including Jek-14 and Inquisitor minifigs, respectively. Now they've released them in a lot more.

    I recently was putting together a 6989 mega core magnetizer, and needed the black dish. I didn’t realize this part was rare at one time. By the looks of the scuffed up one I ended up with it must be original from the early 90’s. The reason I got a 6989 was because of you and a video you had of one, thanks.

  • @nickslate2171

    I always love it when I'm happily building in BL Studio and go to look at the cost only to find that some piece is $23 because it was only in one set in the 90s. A 1x1 clear cone and some 1x6 green tiles were the latest to bite me. But getting 26604 in reddish brown last year was amazing for recreating brick buildings. The Lego overlords give and they take...

  • @thomasneumiller2858
    @thomasneumiller2858 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is happening currently with the 1x6 tile in green! It only came out in one very uncommon set in 2009, and then wasn’t seen again until just this January when it showed up in the new Technic Mack electric garbage truck. The Bricklink price guide tells a story of the value dropping a lot since January.

    For those of us who focus on sets and minifigs that contain bricks found in light gray, dark gray and brown, rather than the bluish grays and red brown, the reissued pieces are a headache. There are a lot of sellers out there that don’t know, or just don’t care, about the correct color or casting marks. I’ve got a bins of hip and leg assemblies and torsos that were sold as both “vintage and correct” and were neither, and don’t get me started on the yellow construction helmet or seamless legs. I appreciate you helping educate the community.

    The 1x1 sand blue plate was MIA for 20 years from 2003 (Knockturn Alley, 4720) to 2023, when it came back in the Disney Castle, Ninjago City Markets, and Fantastical Tree House. It is also available on PaB now. These used to be going for like $5 each (!!). Also the 2x4 tile in Dark Green was exclusive to the Owen & Blue BrickHeadz set (41614) in 2018 but randomly showed up in PaB in 2023. These also used to be like $5+ on Bricklink.

    The 2 x 2 inverted dish in transparent yellow. First appeared in two Classic Space sets from 1986, two parts packs from 1989 and 1991, then was not seen again until last year (2023) in some Star Wars set. That's a 37 year hiatus between official sets. Was commanding a price of between 5 to 6 USD. Now the cheapest one can pick it up for is USD 4 cents!!

    I would love for more plumes to be released lol. Another example of a part is the 2x2 corner plate in sand green. It was only released in 5 sets between 2000-2011, and most of them came in the Statue of Liberty and UCS Yoda sets, so a rare part. I was finishing completing a UCS Yoda and needed a few to complete the set, paid almost $2 per piece! Now it’s since been released in many sets since 2020 with the reintroduction in the Boba Fett helmet set and more. 😅 they also lost about 90% of their value
